What game do you think currently has the most toxic gaming base?

It's definitely League of Legends, always has been, half the battle in each match is always your own team's chat, it's incredibly rare to play a single match were the chat isn't toxic AF, nowadays even when playing the more fun casual modes like ARAM someone is always bitching about something, I swear if the game wasn't fully free it would be dead long ago.

That and it also has the most annoying communication mechanic ever, the "missing enemy" alert, it's supposed to be used to alert teammates of enemy presence but everyone uses it to make fun of others when they make mistakes due to it's annoying sound.

Gears of War Reloaded. Normal people left the field, everyone who's still playing this crap game is an absolute dickhead. Everyone of those cunts is T-bagging, shittalking, highly aggressive, and just an asshole in general. And the worst of it is that all of them are sweats who should know that a game dies when the playerbase leaves. But they don't seem to give a shit. It's just a bunch of basement dwelling wankers. Playing a round of Arc Raiders is wholesome compared to the leftovers in Gears.

I tried LoL once and got yelled at for being in the wrong lane in my first practice match. Never played it again. Im going to say its still LoL even though its been years since then.

League and DOTA are the obvious choices.
However, nothing can come close to Eve Online. A true online hive of scum and villainy.

a lot of games, usually popular games and the player base usually is not playing in deep, but on the surface only, or, they only play limited amount of games.
i'm glad i'm in the niche games side, usually, the fans are chills.

I would say league of legends, but honestly siege is the game where I have received the most toxic messages directed at me.

Towards each other anything competitive basically Valorant, Overwatch, MOBAs

Towards the game and the company that makes it Final Fantasy, holy shit those people are deranged

Final Fantasy fanboys are some of the most toxic unstable people on earth.... I know this because I love FF and I'm fucking nuts 🤪🤪🤪

But seriously there's nothing more toxic and annoying than the series fans who hate seeing you enjoy an entry they don't like, Like Remake or Rebirth because it isn't turned based or isn't a faithful remake etc

I second, third and fourth this.

How can Tekken be toxic when there's no voice chat LMFAO.
Please tell me you guys are talking about some online beef with LowTierGod and not something like teabagging or not rematching.

I miss 2000s toxicity if I'm being honest but most games ban for it now.

I'll throw another vote into classic Modern Warfare 2. The pre and post game wars in the lobbies were hilarious. Some of those can be found on youtube once in a while, but they'd probably make people keel over and die these days LOL

Dota 2/LoL or CS by a long shot. Mobas and CS are high skill games with long ranked matches where leaving early is harshly punished. Hostility goes off the charts at the slightest perceived transgression.

Besides the obvious ones i would say Rust and World of Warcraft.
Yup, you know when the players put 1000 plus hours on these games like COD and WoW, Dota is an exception though, I pretty much know everything about Dota cause I know players personally who ranked 3rd in this game with thousands hours of gameplay but haven't found them toxic to be frank which makes me like the game even more but haven't decided to play it yet.

Usually games that have teamplay and an incredibly high skill ceiling.

Dota and Counterstrike both come to mind.

Ps: mid carry

Every shooter with online.
I remember the early Halo days and saw what happened after the first COD modern warfare, it was embarrasing to see them rage.
I don't think it can possibly be worse then that time

It's Dota 2. The game design makes the game inherently toxic with randoms as one guy can completely ruin the match and waste 45 minutes of 4 other peoples time by feeding, last hitting as support, doing stupid Russian hero picks etc.

Tell me you havent been to Tekken Online communities without telling me 😏 everyone who plays Tekken. Hates Tekken.

I remember a few years ago, a girl was like "being a girl in a game is not a good experience. Guys all the time talk dirty with me", then she decides to impersonate a guy, and she was like "being a boy didn't change much. They kept calling me gay and one said thatbI have AIDS"

Keep the good work, guys

Counter Strike and not even close. I remember trying/checking it, joined a few matches, they found I'm a noob/new player, immediately got cussed in English, Russian, Korean, Swedish/Finnish, Hindi and Portuguese (LATAM) and was kicked out in minutes. Next is Apex, Fortnite and PUBG.

Fuck this game, never have I touched it since then (well also that I'm not a fan of the game, I like large maps for MP something like Battlefield, Battlefront 2, etc, not the small ones).

Arc Raiders, Destiny 2 players are like angels compared to these hyper competitive FPS games.

DotA 2

But Wildgate was a surprisingly toxic recent release. I'd play as captain (generally considered the boring role) in 99% of matches and players would regularly kick me off the helm once we got close to action. If they didn't let me take over the wheel in short order, I'd start disassembling our ship and toss our weapons & ammo into space.

Once they realized what I was doing, they'd all start cussing me out.

It was amusing for the first 20 or so times I did it, but with matches lasting 30+ minutes it started happening too frequently to continue playing.

Console players fighting each other are without a doubt the biggest toxicity in gaming

I have not played in over a decade but when I did it was Rust,
Rust not only has the most toxic players on earth, the game seem designed from the ground up to encourage the toxicity.

Generally the more casual the game is, the more toxic the player base can be in my experience. Arc Raiders comes to mind for something current.

Seen some people mention Marathon here. Nothing but the chillest people I've come across.

From my experience:

DotA
Final Fantasy
Sonic
Nintendo

Probably LOL.
As a game I really like it, but I stopped playing once I could not longer form a whole team with people I know. The game is basically unplayable with randoms, everyone is super aggressive and gets butt hurt/salty really quickly. Matches are way too long to risk loosing because someone looses their shit 30 minutes into a match.

In the last year or two it could be arc raiders, could be marathon, Mario kart fans are toxic, do you know how toxic cod players are?

League of Legends, obviously. Tons of depressed, online addicted old schoold gamers, who played the game since 2010, and who can't provide a reason as to why they are still playing. Gold or Platinum, which in the past were decent ratings, have become meaningless. You are either below Diamond, above Diamond, or Master+. Meanwhile, a developer for which the only way to make money is releasing new champions and skins, which makes the game impossible to learn for new players. It's a toxic fan base not even because of harsh language, spam pinging or insults. It's toxic because 90% of the players just don't care about the result of the match they are playing. They don't pay attention, don't even try to synergyze with team mates, just a bunch of passive inting garbage.
