I remember playing the original Halo after playing Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay, and Halo just seemed like the most uninspiring game with repetitive level design.
Very enjoyable and fun game. Those melee punches and hits are meaty, gory, brutal and genuinely feel so satisfying.
Incredible art and sound design as well and it runs very smooth now.
Gameplay/Guns though is quite basic. Dead Space has a far superior gameplay loop, gives you a bunch of cool tools and weapons to experiment and kill Necromorphs.
every God of War clone. some of them weren't even that bad, but if you copy a game so closely, you better do it well, or you'll instantly feel awful to pla due to the direct comparison I have
Deadspace Remake because of the original.
I mean I still played it, revisiting Ishimura was nice in its own right, but the game is a just pale shadow of its former self.
From-likes have already been mentioned, I can't play them.
The other big one for me that stands out is Immortals: Fenyx Rising. I tried to play this on Switch and whilst it was a decent game, which earned plaudits for being a BotW-like, all I kept thinking was 'this isn't as good as BotW and I'd rather be playing BotW'.
