This thread is more so about whether people are interested, currently 70% say no on this thread

But no matter how you spin the data, it's underperforming:

Same shit different day:

But sure make it like people dont care anymore due to Saros selling out and charting 3rd in the UK chart.
The thing is that you cherry pick this stuff. People tried the same song and dance with GoY, yet it sold more than a lot of games that people considered successful like Elden ring Nightreign, Pokemon Z-A, Split fiction, KCD2, etc. Didn't see you laughing at that.

I am not, but all my friends are hyped with Wolverine.

The only unreleased ps5 console exclusive that I am hyped for this year is Phantom Blade Zero.

Of course it's Sony games that excite me. What else would it be? This generation, PlayStation Studios has consistently delivered some of the best single player experiences ever made.

This year we still get Wolverine, Marvels Token and Kena. And next year it continues with Cory Barlog's new game and Intergalactic.

But sure, if your standards aren't very high, there's always Tamagotchi.

LoL no...

As long as the woke brainrot is infecting their western studios I dont expect anything anymore and sure wont give my money to them .... their Jp studios in Team Asobi and PD will get my love though.

I'd rather be on steam. Lot's of cool indie games that come out it seems weekly, that just aren't on PS5. Even early access games like subnautica 2 and grounded 2 aren't on PS5.

I like the Death Stranding games...on PC. Haven't owned a PlayStation since PS3 and haven't cared about Sony first party since MGS4.

With the PS5 in its later years, I've been wondering whether people even give a shit about Sony games anymore.

Saros just launched to strong reviews but debuted at #3 on the UK physical charts, behind Tomodachi Life (which in itself is hilarious) on Switch and the old Cyberpunk 2077 (a game that came out 6 years ago). A new full-priced PS5 exclusive getting smoked by a cozy Nintendo meme game and a half-decade-old multiplat is actually brutal.

Marathon, while not exclusive, is doing even worse — around 1.2 million sold total (mostly on PC) despite insane development costs and heavy marketing. The CCU is horrible, often sitting at like 5k players.

Up next is Horizon Hunters Gathering, an IP that seems like no one even cares about anymore.

Sony exclusives used to dominate conversations and move consoles. Now the most fun you have with these games is watching how poorly they do. On top of that, there's the constant increase in woke content that's becoming straight-up insufferable. It's like they're more focused on checking boxes than making games people actually want to play.

Are you still excited about these games?

Of course, they're still the best in the business.

The problem has been the shortage caused by the shift to GaaS, not any actual decline in quality when they do arrive.

Yes, but not at the level i once was. Truth is a want a new FF, FF7 part 3, Bloodborne remake and sequel, new god of war, new gran turismo, new ND game and so many more. + New IPs that will make an impact Instead we got marathon ( an online shooter), Concord (another online shooter - lets stop here) and many cancelled games and studio closures.

I hope the new generation renews my love for gaming and hopefully Sony will have mega hits that push technology while retaining that sony quality. MS and Nintendo have long been a disappointment for different reasons, and Sony is the last resort.

I still have hope and i do belive that they can move away from the failed gaas initiative, will have to see i guess.

I honestly haven't been interested in anything sony 1st party since the Obama administration

Yes. They're about the only ones doing big budget and big production games. Even though i mainly play smaller stuff these days I still want it all. Saros is great. Wolverine will be great. Intergalactic will be great. Some of their timed exclusives will be great.

Just gotta train my eyeballs to survive the eye rolling from woke shit.

Forbidden West was a disappointment.
Ragnarok disappointmented me in the same ways as FW especially the damn handholding.

Spider-Man 2 was serviceable but wasted too much time as non-Spider-Men, and the Venom section is just a reminder how we still don't have the spinoff, or even know if it exists.

Never really cared for Wolverine as a character in general. Only excited because Insomniac knows how to make fun gameplay. It's taking Naughty Dog too long for me to be excited for Intergalactic. I'll be buying both Day One though, but my hype level is "it's about time".

Returnal isn't exactly my style so I don't really care for Saros.

Demon's Souls is one of my favorite games from them this gen. Look how that turned out.

Stellar Blade also one of my favorites - excited for whatever ShiftUp has next. Ghost of Yotei is still on my backlog but from people I know who have played it, I'm very much looking forward to it

There was a time where they had exclusives like Metal Gear and Bloodborne. Now it's a bunch of "cinematic" trash larping as movies. No, I'm not excited. Even the Spidey games are trash compared to GOAT Arkham, and Spidey is my favorite hero.

I'll probably eventually play Wolverine, but I'll try it for extremely cheap or for free like the last two Spidey games.

They haven't made a good "big game" in many years, so no. They have been nothing but a huge disappointment this generation. Before, you could always count on Sony to deliver mind-blowing single player games in a steady stream.

Now? It's the opposite - they deliver a bad or mediocre game like once every few years. It's pathetic.

To be honest, haven't really given a shit about 1st party Playstation games since the PS3 days. Too much samey bullshit and I'm not really interested in waiting years upon years for games to come out, only to find they tend to be woke slop.

The last big Sony games I bought was GoW Ragnarok and it has been such a disappointment. Forbidden West was also super disappointing, them having learned nothing from the first Horizon. TLOU is a dead IP with a dead story. I don't like the Sucker Punch Samurai games, they also learned nothing from Infamous which was their best games and still much better than Ghost of Tsushima in all aspects.

All those developers and their big games don't excite me anymore like before. The same way recent Ubisoft games don't interest me anymore.
LoL no...

This. Their last interesting games are made in Japan and Finland.

Somewhere along the way I just lost interest in their game output, which is sad.

I used to play the shit out of Resistance, Killzone, Motorstorm, Uncharted, PS AllStars, old God of War...but now I know I'm probably not the target market anymore.

All good though, other platforms have what I'm looking for.

Pouring one out for the IPs that were sent to the shadow realm.

This generation has been all about third parties. Many of them have done a fantastic job with AA and AAA games.
I used to buy very few third party games in the past, but this time it has been full of great games.

Capcom alone has shown everyone how to have a constant stream of games that people love and want to play.
Other devs have shown that they don't need to spend millions of dollars to have a successful game.

Sony this gen has been the worse of the big three. They wasted every good will and hype people had coming from PS4, by starting to chase the live service trend that nobody cares about. That has never been its audience. Even Microsoft has released great games (although, stupidly in other consoles) this gen.

I'm not disputing that some of their past titles might've been financially successful, I was asking whether other people have been interested in upcoming Sony games and the thread results overwhelmingly say no.

If you are interested, people actually provide very detailed responses in this very thread as to why they've lost interest

Nothing you shared address as the fact that's over 70% of the people who responded aren't interested in upcoming Sony titles. And nothing you shared addresses the very reasons people say they've lost interest in this very thread.

And I'm sorry me characterizing the situation as funny triggered you so much but it will always be funny that a game that's a half a decade old beat Saros. Instead of directing your frustration at me you should be demanding that Sony do better.

No and to be honest Thier out out has been pathetic.

I remember the days when me and my best mate would stay up watching E3 hyped about what Sony game would be announced.

These days I'm on PC he's on Switch , neither of us bothered with Saros it just looks boring and we know what it's about.

He loves the funny little gameplay experiences on switch , I like the indies and unique games on PC.

Sony first party used to be like genuinely amazing blockbuster bombastic games and experiences you watched and thought WOW I Need to play that.

These days it's meh that looks very average. They haven't evolve the platform either to offer something exciting for players it's been a similar UI and concept for what 10 years?

Honestly they have lost their ability to innovate.

I never play mine. Yotei felt like th e last straw for me being day 1 on these things. Now I'll just wait or play GTA6, but even GTa6 doesn't really excite me it's more about how big it is in the zietgiest.

Not really. They tricked me to double dip on PC and rebuild a library of Sony games on Steam, then there is talk that they won't do PC ports anymore. Still waiting on official talk about it but if it's true then fuck off.

Does Marvel Tokon counts? I might grab it a few years later when an edition with some character pass is on a sale, other than that I'm a bit tired of their sequels or stories that seems tailored to always challenge the player in an annoying way, its a far cry from the PS4 era which made me buy a playstation

I'm always ready to have my mind changed, but nothing that they've got announced right now sounds exciting to me. I don't even like superheroes except for like a few Batman things and the Deadpool movies which were funny.

Wolverine is a wait and see. Being a big Naughty Dog fan, I'm excited for Intergalactic. Looking forward to Barlog's next game. But really these games are just so few and far between. I see more third party games to get excited about than anything else.

But that's also true of Microsoft and Nintendo games for me. First party this gen has been a bit of a dud.

Be honest, did you all say it out loud in the voice, or only heard it in your head?

Intergalactic
Wolverine
The Last of Us: Part III
GOW Egypt Remake
God of War 5

All big hype and Day 1

The rest of their SP games, at minimum, have my attention, until they lose it

Not really much of anything at this point, especially Naughty Dog...fucking lame ass looking new IP so far, unless the gameplay ends up being great.

Think I got the most enjoyment this gen so far out of Gran Turismo 7 and Ratchet & Clank - Rift Apart.

The rest have been kinda weaker versions of previous entries, except for maybe Astro Bot which I still need to get. Wolverine looks fine, but nothing that really grabs me on the horizon.

Not really too into Wolverine and most of the live service stuff, but Intergalactic sounds interesting, so I voted yes.

For me, yes. I loved most of the games Sony released in recent years, and to me they still stand out in terms of quality compared to the average of other studios.

But it became trendy in certain internet circles to say their games are bad, that everything is woke and other nonsense.

Part of the discussion around games stopped being just about games and turned into a cultural/identity conflict. It became so exhausting that after years of it, I decided to simply step away from it.

When I saw the thread, then WHO created it, I knew this entire thing would be disingenuous. Especially with the current state of this forum.
I'd honestly be interested in what responses would be when the same question is asked about all 3 console makers.....

No most of exciting games coming from 3rd party games.

100% this, and not just for Sony but Microsoft also.

On PlayStation, the only exclusive I'm looking forward to that's coming soon is Wolverine. After Returnal, I realized Saros wasn't really going to be my thing. Extraction shooters like Marathon as a stand alone genre were also never my thing. I like extraction as a mode within a larger game (e.g. The Division), but I don't want to play it exclusively. Horizon Hunters Gathering can fall off a cliff and never return for all I care.

On the more distant future, I'm still intrigued by Intergalactic based on the trailer we got mainly due to the 80's synthwave vibes the game is putting off. But I probably won't buy it day one. I really don't care about any future installments in the Dad of War series, and Horizon really jumped the shark for me with Forbidden West and its DLC.

And over on the Microsoft side, literally the only game they have coming out that I give a shit about is Forza Horizon. Don't care about COD, skeptical as hell of Elder Scrolls 6, DOOM is played out for me, and I need to see more about how they're approaching Gears: E-Day before I get excited about it. It's hard for me to care about yet another Halo: CE remaster when we've now been playing that game for twenty-five years.

The vast majority of the games that stand out in my mind this generation are third party games.
