Because everyone has been waiting for this one but not lets see how people feel about it. Just remember...don't shoot the messenger as I let everyone decide how they feel

100% works, stable 60fps, no crashes and a good base for future mods and enhancements.
Dev is very up front about AI's usage in its development...so do with that what you will. Since it's a free fan port based upon the decomp....yeah!

Flood the zone. Nintendo can't fight everyone at the same time lol

Look, I hate AI slop, but whenever I see someone suggesting that the use of AI is inherently bad, as if it weren't just a tool that everyone uses every day... it makes me want to see more projects that proudly incorporate AI into their processes.

Fuck this shit, if the result isn't slop who cares?

I've thought for some time now that generative AI would rapidly expedite port development, and I'm glad to see that reality coming to fruition.

99% of commenters just want it to work correctly. And they are happy because at the end of the day it's an unofficial and free port

1% of people despise it and yell at me and send me death threats or "mill yourself" messages lol. Those people will never not be angry

I wish ripping NES-N64 ROMs wasn't so expensive compared to other consoles. I dislike having to get this stuff elsewhere to play these even though I own the games from when they were new.

That said, these decomps are pretty awesome! Maybe in the future we can get auto-decomp (probably via ai, say what you will about that) to porting even the most obscure games.

Smash Ultimate's biggest problem was the laggy online play.

If they can fix it on PC in any Smash game it will be the definitive version to play.

They said it was new/beta/buggy but the 1p should work. So I tried it out with Mario and it froze loading the results screen for break the targets. Still work to be done before this replaces your N64 cart, but a huge breakthrough.

Now for gods sake, its time for Wave Race!

Imagine it: 16:9, 4K, 120fps perfection.

at this rate a n64 emulator will be unnecessary
I'm counting the days. I fucking hate N64 emulation almost as much as I hate PS2 emulation. How something like Dolphin or bsnes can exist while the scene for N64 and PS2 looks like it does boggles my mind. I spent last night playing Starship the Star Fox 64 PC port and I'll never play the N64 version again. 144 fps, 3840x2160 with 8xMSAA, proper widescreen. It's just amazing. I look forward to replaying all these N64 PC ports when I get a 4k 240hz OLED in a few months.

Pretty cool that he made that with AI. Does he detail the steps he followed or something? Wouldn't mind trying my hand at it lel.

Honestly when AI helps in something like making decomp way easier/faster I don't see any issues at all. Bravo for dev for honesty.
