Portal 2 Turns 15 Years Old

Released on April 18th, 2011, Portal 2 makes you realize you're getting older, and that the carefree days of youth, full of adventure and potential, are behind you. So say something nice about Portal 2.

Thanks for ruining my day

i remember the day i bought portal 2. it was the ps3 version which came with a free steam copy. bought it at my local supermarket and the lady laughed at me and said something like "why you spending that much money on a game?". if i remember right it was about ÂŁ40.

that game is responsible for me creating a steam account and getting into PC gaming.

Is this the last game Valve developed? I got it on PS3 and loved it.
Since Portal 2, they've made:
Counter-Strike:Global Offensive
DOTA 2
The Lab
Artifact
DOTA Underlords
Half-Life: Alyx
Aperture Desk Job
Counter-Strike 2

Considering only one of those is a traditional single-player narrative game (which requires VR), I'd say they haven't made a game quite like Portal 2 since.

Deadlock too. It's not released yet but you can get into it if you want.

Aperture Desk Job is also single player

The Switch got Portal Companion Collection a couple years back with Portal and Portal 2. It's a great game to play on the go and it works on Switch 2.

"Traditional" in my post is doing a lot of work, but Aperture Desk Job isn't a full-length game. More like a tech demo. So I don't put it in the same class as the Half Lifes/Portals.
After posting I was like « okay maybe when he said « traditional » he meant a full-fleged game » but I was like « eh, I'm not editing, too lazy »

I remember playing the Co-op mode and yelling 'WE DID IT' at that puzzle near the end where you have to faith plate jump with the other person into each other to crash down on the platform. So much fun.

Second best puzzle game after Talos 2
While I love Talos 2, I'm giving the lead to Portal 2.

Portal 1 was better.
Nah man, Portal 1 was barely a proof of concept. Portal 2 was way better and it didn't just have a great sp campaign but also a very nice co-op campaign. Something we don't see often in videogames.

He's got possibly the world's most punchable voice.
I was actually happy when they announced he'd be voicing a robot in Portal 2, but I didn't expect them to just put it as is, unmodified. It could've worked great if they had made him sound a bit robotic like GLaDOS but when I just got a full blast of Merchant in the ear, I had a hard time disconnecting the voice from Stephen Merchant.

I bought this in the holiday sale. Looking forward to playing it next after CP2077

People can debate about what they've come out with since, but there's no denying Portal 2 marked the end of an era for Valve of releasing more normal games at a more normal pace.

They had such an absurdly good 7th gen with the Episodes, Portals and Left 4 Deads and then they just... stopped doing that and it's been 15 years since.:messenger_sad_relieved:

Portal 2 dumbed down the puzzles from the original so I prefer the original as well. Both are still great games.

Damn I remember that I was living in Korea at that time, it was just after the Fukushima incident (I was living in Japan and went to Korea 2 days before it occures, was supposed to come back after 2 weeks but finally stayed in Korea), I had to buy a cheap laptop at Yongsan to play it. AWESOME game. I never could play the coop missions though, it's one of my regret, I should do it someday.
