Yeah, it was more expensive to make. They used more expensive cooling for example while Sony used "brute force" liquid metal + massive heatsink (that's why console was gargantuan).
SoC was also bigger and more expensive to make.

Just on the performance level, even if this thing is $1500, its amazing to me that it will provide PT performance of 5090 and raster performance of 5080, of which an equivalent PC right fucking now will run us $5000 MINIMUM.

You cannot have "PT performance of 5090 and raster performance of 5080".
Cause believe it or not that "raster" performance (also known as compute outside of YouTube retard channels areas) is in fact needed for any sort of PT performance.
If such a balance would in fact be implemented that "5090 PT performance" would just sit there untapped because the whole GPU will be limited by shading and denoising at its "5080 raster performance".

A fully hybrid Xbox console/PC with access to all stores is definitely something I'm interested in. Lots of details need to be ironed out how all that works though. And the price.
The endless shitposts are going to come from a lot more than the "usual trolls" if this thing doesn't let you use Steam. That's on Microsoft. Sarah Bond floated the "not limited to a single store" concept and let everyone run wild with the idea.

Well, they can still do whatever they want until the launch. If they think it would hurt their Xbox brand.
They did remove Kinect from XB1 after a few months when they saw it was a disaster at that price. They could remove Steam Store after a few months too.

I don't know how it works.
But there is some difference in, one is monolithic, other is cpu gpu connected via a bus.
Helix GPU has similar die area as a rtx5070. Not sure about ps6.

There is such thing as different architectures having way different IPC. Also, 5090 is on 4nm and Magnus is on 3nm. Also 5090 die wastes most of the space on AI shit, because the chip was designed primarily for AI data centers. Also u r a poopoo head.

If it doesn't have Steam, it isn't a PC. if it isn't a PC, then expect its sale to be 1/10th of what it would get otherwise.
It makes sense to have Steam if you only make money from the hardware cost. If you take out Steam or block it, you don't get a PC and thus people will expect the machine to be CHEAPER. It is two paths that Xbox had to pick one of.
I am on the "Have Steam, cost $1500" camp. Those who still think Xbox is still a console would argue otherwise.

According to Kepler they at least achieved parity (probably beaten Blackwell a bit). But you still have much smaller GPU vs. 5090...
