Avatar The Last Airbender movie fully leaks online, after the leaker was emailed the entire movie in a copyright strike. The entire movie has been uploaded to torrent and websites such as 4chan.

The leaker claimed that Nickelodeon had "accidentally" emailed them the full film, backed by clips that showed none of the trademark signs of being AI-generated fakes. The social media account attempted to hold Paramount to ransom by threatening to livestream the entire thing if the studio didn't share a trailer in the coming days.

However, the clips have since been removed, with the usual "This media has been disabled in response to a report by the copyright owner" message appearing on X. As of now, Paramount has not commented on the leak.

The videos were live for nearly 12 hours and racked up over 100,000 likes in that time. The response from fans was mixed, with some pleased to finally see something from Avatar: Aang, The Last Airbender and others concerned that this would further derail the franchise's future after it went from being a theatrical release to a streaming one.

X-men Origins Wolverine all over again, however at least this leak was the finished version from what it seems.

My friend showed me the Wolverine leak and about halfway through the film the effects were unfinished and the final fight had a full-on green screen. The Deadpool fight was so bad though that we thought it was a fake until the real film released.

Damn I didn't even know there was an animated movie.
Sucks for the studio, not only for the people who'll pirate it instead of paying but also because I guess social media will be flooded with spoilers months before it's even out

Can't blame people for wanting access to these things without paying for them, companies really brought this problem on themselves with the paywall increases.

A more recent example would be the Minecraft movie. Unfinished version leaked a week or two before it released in theaters but, as we all know, the movie went on to do gangbusters anyway.

A leak this early, though? Unheard of... but it seems it wasn't going to theaters anyway.

considering the cut online is basically done they should just release it now and call it day

I heard rumors that they didn't want a theatrical release and the leaker was also angry that they replaced the voice actors with "native" people.
The movie's all over X in full lenghth. Crazy times.

Yeah I thought this was going to get a theatrical release, but from what I read it was apparently only going to launch on Paramount+.
If the movie is basically done as the leak suggest I think the best idea would be to just release it now.

Wait they didn't bring back the original cast for a stupid ass reason like this?

Yeah this project can get fucked after they chose to fire all the voice actors everyone wanted so they could hire "Ethnically Appropriate" ones, then tell everyone online how much they care about what the fans want.

Quite honestly this isn't surprising since Legend of Korra was what it was. I have zero expectations for their priorities.

Gladly rewatch the original series. Ignore everything else.

Man, I HATE this kind of double standard DEI bullshit. "It's a fantasy Viking world, so OF COURSE there should be folks of all ethnicities present, there are dragons right?!?!?" and "it's a fantasy planet with some vague similarities to Earth cultures, so OF COURSE we must assign VO from only those presumed ethnicities for the sake of authenticity!"

Which is it? Are fantasy worlds (or historic cultures with fantastical elements) supposed to honor the authenticity and indigenous groups as much as possible or can anyone play anything so long as there is a HINT of make-believe?

No original voice actors, no interest. DEI kills creative works.
The real reason is probably that the original VO actors were too expensive and this is just a "social media golf clap" cover for pure economics. Looking online, the VO actor for Aang is still in the biz, but hasn't done VO since the show.

I understand now, that explains it. Thank you jason and azureshinobi.
They don't know what they're talking about, the casting director literally did an AMA on reddit about this and people asked her why they changed the voice actors, it wasn't cause "they weren't interested" or because they were too expensive(they hired Steven Yeun to voice Zuko), hence the reason the fanbase is so riled up on social media right now.

Who believes what the casting director would say? Could all be PR spin.

I can certainly believe that the child voice actors aren't really the best fit for the adult versions, THAT would be an honest sounding answer. But "we wanted voices that represent fantasy cultures laid upon earth ones" is just silly. What does an inuit 'voice' sound like? Are they just farming for stereotypical accents that English speakers associate with certain groups? Most of the folks they cast haven't done any voice work before AFAICT, so they were clearly not looking for experience and talent, rather just limiting themselves MASSIVELY by wanting skin color and parentage to be paramount. Nothing new for animated films, really, but hints at the motivations.

It wouldn't be the first time for this, Capcom has also started doing this "Ethnic hiring" thing as well when casting voice actors, at first people thought the changes were for not wanting to pay union fees but then people started pointing out online that they were still using union voice actors. You're approaching this from a logical standpoint which is why it makes no sense, Hollywood and their stupid bullshit never does, they care about the optics of being able to say "look how diverse are cast is" over everything else.

Probably, but I bet there was a "can all the original cast come back?" attempt at first, then that stalled out for whatever reasons (some cast not working anymore, or straight up wanting crazy $$$), so when it was "well, these 2-3 are not gonna happen, so may as well go all fresh and cheap, get PR to spin this as anything but us pinching pennies".

most likely this but to me I'd rather have a mix of the old and new rather than a whole new cast

shit, i knew that a new airbender movie was being made, but I didn't know it was an animated one! thought it was another live action retry

Not bringing back the original cast to give them the send-off they deserved is peak Hollywood bullshit. The casting director deserves a kick in her nutmeats for that alone.

It's a shame, because the film itself is actually pretty solid so far and the animation is top-tier. But some of the casting choices are rough. The guy playing Roku has absolutely no gravitas. I couldn't stand him in those Disney Star Wars shows, and I wasn't sold on him as Iroh in the Netflix Avatar series either.

Anyway, it's a pretty shit way for this to end for all the teams who worked on it.

Saw some clips on YouTube shorts before I found out it was legit leaks.

I thought the voices were AI
The funny part is it's only a matter of time before someone uses AI to put aged up versions of the old voices. Which will probably be an improvement from what i've heard of the new voices so far.

So far, yeah. VO can't compare to the original.

The production values are insane though, which makes it even more baffling that they kept delaying it before shelving the theatrical release altogether. It's pretty obvious they poured a ton of time and money into it.

Though piracy is common on social media platforms, it is very rare for an entire film to leak so far in advance of its release date. Artists who worked on the film expressed their disappointment on social media.

"We worked on the Aang movie for years with the expectation that we'd get to celebrate all of our hard work in theaters," said animator Julia Schoel on X, "… just to see people unceremoniously leak the film and pass our shots around on Twitter like candy."

Schoel also said that Paramount's "awful decision" to remove the movie from theaters does not justify leaking it online.

"I totally understand folks not wanting to pay for/support paramount+" she wrote, "but pirating the movie after its release would have at least been better than this. This is incredibly disrespectful to all of the hard work the artists put in."

They buffed the fuck out of Toph

Aangs voice is bad. like early DBZ bad when they switched from the Ocean dub to Funi and Goku sounded like superman bad.. holy shit is it bad.

I sat and watched about 6 different 3 minute long clips from various parts of the movie on this Monarch guys Youtube channel, enough to get a sense of the plot. While I'll admit the animation is really impressive, without giving anything away, this feels like a one of the many Dragonball Z side story movies. The story and new major character of the movie don't ever seem to be referenced anywhere else in the series so I'm suspecting they were just made up to justify the movie, it looks like the plot of the movie gets resolved and the only really change from the events occurring is that Aang's internal struggles at the beginning of the movie are resolved, the movie just seems like a paper thin excuse to see the characters you like again and cool fighting, so once again, like one of the side story movies in Dragonball Z(Think Tree of Might).

That's sadly kind of expected given there's established lore that comes later with Korra and all that.
It's the same problem a lot of Star Wars projects run into when they are set in between the movies. Like you already know Cal Kestis won't do anything too relevant in his games because it can't alter the canon of the movies that come after it.

Still, from what I've read it sounds like a fun fanservice movie with great animation. Which makes it all the more puzzling that they didn't go with OG cast.

I agree, it's a shame it can't have more substance to it, but I'd still gladly buy it on Bluray if they'd brought back the original cast, them do what they did just makes it easy to ignore.
