Minus One seems to also appeal more to a Western/Universal audienceMinus One dethroned 1954 for me, and is my favorite film of all time.
Shin is good, but definitely under the hype (for me personally), and definitely a pretty isolated style from the rest (though it's main vein stays true to Godzilla, I mean more the comedic elements and style).
What does falling asleep have to do with anything? You were tired watching the movie, that's on you, not the filmI fell asleep during both...
Minus One is better.
Minus One was a better movie, but Shin filled a really awesome niche of giant monster horror that not even other Godzilla movies attempted/pulled off. I want more movies in both directions.

'I fell asleep' is the oldest, laziest excuse in film talk. It's the ultimate get-out-of-jail-free card for anyone who just couldn't keep up.
Stop blaming the director for your own exhaustion because it's pathetic
