Cyberpunk 2077 PlayStation 5 Pro enhancements detailed (Patch releases April 8)

Isn't there already RTGI in the next-gen PS5 update? Pro can just run it in boost mode because if I remember, the performance mode struggles to maintain 60fps.
Only in the 30 fps mode and there was no way to run it unlocked.

Ended up playing on performance mode, which is now locked 60 on pro.

Still interested to see if the 60fps mode has more RT besides the RT shadows that the base console has.
I would hope for reflections as the game is full of them and would make the biggest difference. Shadows make little to no difference, might as well leave them out.

I don't think supporting a platform for that long would be viable. Every 10 years, sure. Every 16 years is crazy. That takes us back to 2010 with GPUs like the GTX 480. Imagine if it had lost support just this year.
Lol.

Well I guess I didn't think it through... In truth tho I just looked at what the conventional 2 gen cycle would have been. So take the PS5 for instance. Released in 2020, if it's supported through out the life of the PS6. Then that means it will be supported for 14 years at least.

So we can say when the PS7 is released, then official support for the PS5 is dropped, and the supported consoles at that time would be ps6 handheld, ps6, ps6pro and ps7

I'm ok even if they get rid of RT reflections for performance mode, if they can keep the rest. Their SSR wasn't dogshit like most other games iirc
I'm personally a RT shadows sucker.
You can still achieve good results with alternative AO solutions. You can achieve amazing results with baked GI + real-time GI solutions on top like Naughty Dog's dynamic bounce system. You can even achieve decent results with hi-res cubemaps plus competent SSR (sublte/gentle fade out), although RT reflections should actually be a must at this point.

But you can't fake shadows.
Once you know and appreciate PCSS, the image feels immediately wrong without it. That uber soft penumbra of distant objects brings immediately the render to pre-render Pixar level to my eyes.
When used to it, you'll always know when a shadow on screen isn't accurate. Whereas you can be easily fooled, without direct comparisons, for every other visual element.

40fps/120Hz is the future, man.
Yeah.. we've spent an entire generation playing everything at 60fps (as 40fps were rare exceptions), let's go into the next one with 20fps less.

Must be super pleasant for PS5 Pro users especially already playing Fidelity modes at 60fps.

Who's in a hurry?

Sony hasn't said a single word about PlayStation 6.

Reality is one thing, and forums are a completely different, parallel reality.

Don't take anything you read on a forum seriously, especially when it comes to video games.
when there is a smoke, there is a fire. and the one who leaked this is someone who post here and has a good record.

I Dont think he is wrong. in fact I am 100% sure that K KeplerL2 is 100% right about the PS6 release next year. could things change ? possible. but at this time, I highly doubt it.

if he has additional confirmation about the PS5 pro release date he will share it with us if he can.

Oh shit, I didn't expect the update so soon. I'll need to see the game running at 30fps with all the bells and whistles, but I'll likely settle on the performance mode.

Way too many games to play atm, but the Pro is certainly delivering the goods.

Honestly this . It make no sense really to release the ps6 next year even. Between all these great updates to GTA 6 this year in ps5 pro as a best platform to play the game . Why on earth they are so in rush to release a system next year.

The same reason could be said for GPUs, no? No one needs a 5090, but they're there. I guess let people have what they want. Others can stay on current-gen platforms.

Fantastic update, this year the Pro will leave the base model far behind thanks to PSSR2 and more advanced ray tracing.
Looking forward to trying it tomorrow.

targets 40FPS

What Year Is It GIF

The year where we start seeing games target 30 and 40 fps and show us what greatness this gen can provide! Literally nothing wrong with 40fps.

Just when the ps5 pro started to make sense , nope let's fuck all of that and release a next gen system that is gonna piss off the customers with its price, availability, and cross gen games . That's gotta do it.

Praise The Lord Applause GIF

I couldn't agree more. PSP3 Fall 2027 and PS6 Fall 2028 is what should happen.

We're not getting PS6 next year! Enough with the horseshit :messenger_tears_of_joy: :messenger_tears_of_joy: :messenger_tears_of_joy:

Keep deluding yourselves though as I eagerly await the tears when '27 comes and goes. And 99% of leakers don't know jack shit. They're in for the likes, clicks and stirring up naive forum posters like yourself.

Well, to all of those who haven't gotten around to it before cause of patches - or lack thereof - enjoy! Had a fucking blast with that game on PC a while ago. Highly recommend a sword/throwing knife build if you having hard time deciding.

Saved this post. I've been carefully curating a wall of shame in case the console does come out in 2027 (or Q1 2028). This goes way up on that list :messenger_tongue:

Go ahead. And Q1 2028 is totally different because...well it's not 2027. Extend the goalposts some more though :messenger_tears_of_joy:

"In case the console does come out" :messenger_tears_of_joy:

It won't :messenger_tears_of_joy:

The gunplay is clunky, the feel of the driving is frankly awful compared to the competition, and it has one of the flattest, least emotionally resonant stories in a big game in recent memory. I tapped out after 5 hours.

And before people say "tHaT's NoT eNoUgH tImE!", Clair Obscur hit higher notes in its first half hour. You can ray trace a turd and it will still be a turd.

E33 writing is ass compared to Cyberpunk. You played 5 hours of a game that can span over 100 hours. Sit down, we didn't really need your opinion on the game.

This still has a 60fps mode, so I'm not sure what you're saying? The standard modes should be 30fps 'Quality' for 60Hz TV users, 40fps 'Quality' or 'Balanced' for 120Hz TV users, then 60fps 'Performance' mode. 40fps is a huge step up from 30fps in input latency and motion clarity.

I would like to know how is No ray tracing and ray tracing on resulting the same 60 fps lol.

also. 9060 xt can do path tracing at 30 fps ? eveything ultra no FSR ? yeah... not buying it lol. unless its something stupid like FHD with FSR on or something

FSR3 balanced.
I have it capped at 60 with Afterburner.

Looks like he capped the FPS to 60 and I assume FSR4 is on b/c 9070XT can get like 60 FPS with path tracing on using FSR4.

I have a couple of questions lol.

1- Why is a PC game locked to 60 fps ? is ur monitor / TV 60 fps only?
2- Why are you showing a pics of 9060xt performance in path tracing and ray tracing vs native if you are locking the frames in the first place ?

That's a 9060 xt though..

I'm saying that is time for 30fps, along with the 40fps compromise, to go. Completely.

Next gen should be (and will be) Fidelity 60fps, Performance modes targeting 120fps.
40fps might an improvement over 30fps, but it's still dogshit compared to 60fps. Only feels kind of acceptable because preferable to 30fps but this in itself doesn't mean much as the latter is boderline unplayable on the modern sample and hold panels.

This was THE Gen transition to 60fps standard, as it should have been the PS2 one with its countless 60fps games.

He said he doesn't think AMD can do PT, they can (though not sure it's worth it).
I have it capped at 60 to flatline the frametime in other games, I don't really play this one but I couldn't be bothered turning it off.
My screen is 1080p 165Hz, but I am running it at 1440p.
Uncapped "ultra" FSR3 balanced (with my shitty 3600):

Why no official FSR4 patch? :messenger_weary:
Edit: Wait it apparently does, but it's only showing 2.1 and 3 for me.
Launched it from Adrenaline and it is showing FSR4 now... Pain in the ass thing.

Path tracing and raytracing have to be more about the way how the hardware handle the rays bounce than "full ray traced" effects; path tracing is more precise where raytracing is limited to the first view perspective. But I'm not exactly so informed about the matter.
One costs 1k more than the other. The more you buy the more you trace

I know that. I'm just saying him getting 33 FPS with path tracing on is reasonable when compared to its big brother 9070XT.
I didn't think the 9070xt can do path tracing natively ( could be wrong I don't follow AMD GPUs much).

Maybe with FSR to balance at 2k or FHD to get it to run at acceptable frames.

Even the 5090 struggle with path tracing on native
