Marathon |OT| A Shell of its Former Self.

Made it to silver.

I think in its current state ranked is good.

Cryo needs the massive overhauls if the remaining community will engage with it.

If ranked turns into Cryo 2, then there is no end game or chase for normal players.
 
I am still enjoying the game after almost 70h. I only have a few minor quibbles:

  • I'd like the ability to rebind quick drop to another key. A drag transfer feature like in Rust would also be welcome.
  • Colors of teammates should be fixed once you're in a party of at least two. Keeping track of teammates is a little confusing when their colours swap each match. Static colours/numbers for a session would be great.
  • Show truncated summaries of all three teammates' contracts. Your own contract can push a teammates off the hud if it's too long.
  • Show objectives which track globally even when not on the map where the other objectives show. Traxus has contracts where you can do half the contract elsewhere but the hud only shows if you're on the initial map.
  • Show an icon vs the full effect when teammates activate signal jammer. The buff is practically required with the state of snipers and it complicates pushing with friends.
  • Make the build a sidebar of the vault screen rather than a different tab. Needing to check a different screen to see changes to your overall build is cumbersome.
 
Man the few days I took a break really did good, I'm jonesing for more runs. Digging Thief, gained 12k in 3 quick runs tonight. Back on it, can't wait to get home from work tomorrow.
 
This weekend I finally started doing Outpost solo runs. And holy shit, this map is awesome!

Also extremely creepy, lots of dim lit corridors and intricately designed spaces.

For me this game is like a sci fi horror action movie that melts my hours like it's nothing.

Still so much in love with this game.
 
Not bad. If anything, they're consistently "okay" when it comes to these patches but nothing making me go "wow". Though their reaction time is great for small issues.

Let's see how the knife meta changes now.
Looks like Luipadre Luipadre was indeed correct. Think next week could be considered mid season so im expectiong a little more then.

It can't be worse than before when psychos would charge you head on and somehow win with a knife while unloading a gun into them. Good that they kept the PVE damage the same though.

The one about knives and bubble shields
Combat

Knife


  • Reduced the maximum lunge distance by ~10% and trimmed down the targeting angle by ~20%.
Bubble Shield

  • Increased rarity from Deluxe (blue) to Superior (purple)
  • Reduced bubble HP by 33%
  • Removed vulnerability to Volt Weapon damage
  • Increased resistance to UESC damage by 17%

  • Melee DamageReduced bonus damage provided by the Melee Damage stat from a maximum of 100% to a maximum of 50% against enemy Runners. Damage against non-Runner targets is unchanged.
  • DEVELOPER NOTE: Melee in Marathon is intended to be a high-risk but potent method to contest close-quarters weapons like shotguns and submachine guns. However, the breakpoints for quick melee kills show up too early in the Melee Damage stat progression, which means additional investment into a build isn't required to get the maximum effective output. We don't want to compromise on having melee feel powerful, but believe that getting to that maximum output should be the result of meaningful buildcrafting and upgrade progression. Our goal for this change and the knife lunge changes above are that the knife remains a powerful backup tool, but requires more thoughtful play - both in and out of run - to be most effective.
Thief

  • Fixed additional Grapple-related slide cancel movement exploits.
Vault and Armory

  • Fixed an issue causing the Vault and Armory to sometimes appear to be empty.
  • Fixed an issue causing the Armory item refreshes and free daily...

What I'll expect/hope for mid-season patch:

Solo Cryo
Duos on all maps
Oneshot snipers nerfed - can't knock blueshields and above from headshots
Shotguns nerf - higher risk/reward in cqc encounters
At least one map event in every game

That aint happening. Hell even normal solos are still experimental imo

Don't think you'll get duos on all maps unfortunately. Not with the current playerbase.

Solo Cryo might come in Season 2, I don't think it would be playable in its current form for a solo player.

Idk what the fix is to cryo at this point other than everyone being forced to use the exact same kit. You pay 5k credits, and you all start on a level playing field.

Maybe making it so you can get out earlier if you so wish. Say if you are quick you can clear the first area grab a bit of loot then get out before a team can rotate into your area. That way at least Cryo would be self sustaining and you wouldn't need to waste all your loot on 5 unsuccessful runs.

That and a limit to the amount of nades and equipment you can bring.

Add rooks then I can have risk free runs :messenger_sunglasses:

Dunno, I've not played enough to offer a solutuon tbh.

Thank god knife was nerfed.

Next, shotguns.

Literally ruining Outpost with that shit.

I should not be one shot downed with full shields by a shotgun 40-50+ feet away its fucking stupid.
