Marathon approaching 15k CCU low (sponsored by coachmcguirk91 - still having a blast)

As you wish. I added Division 2 in there as well.

Dunno what we're supposed to take from that though. Hunt didn't exactly release to the world with a massive publicity push. I can line it up to Arc release as well if you want?

This was for me. My friend really wanted to do Marathon, and then I redownloaded Divison 2 and there is just so much more than Ark and Marathon. The PVE is some of the most fun available TPS available , and there are extraction modes to look forward to.

We are being sold 4 tiny maps as a product. There isn't that much to Marathon. The bots suck, the shootouts are over before they start. The Division 2 seemed to come and go, but damn did we not know what we had back then.

Marathon rated among these games at #5352 at 84.90%. Watch out for Lost Castle Chinese game. Only 0.01% behind! If Marathon could pull off a few more positive reviews it might match Bunny Park and Bring Me That Shawarma which had peak CCUs of 36 and 17 people.

I was told on good authority by coachmcguirk91 that this game was an 87% on Steam. Now I just feel lied to.
Started higher, but slowly trending down since. Didnt know it even dropped below 85% till I checked today.

Always be weary about people spitting out stats unless they can back it up.

I'm just disappointed that effort was made to request the thread title be updated to reflect the higher score, but strangely they seemed to forget to request it when the score fell leaving us all uninformed about it in a thread dedicated to stats and data. Very disappointed.

I prefer if it was adjusted to say 5352nd Highest Rated Game.

Didnt get around to updating numbers last night as I went to bed early. But yesterday, peak was 32.8k vs 33.8k (-1k or -3%)

4 pm EST completed hour
(All time peak was launch day 88k)

Compared to yesterday (Thu vs Wed): 28.2k vs 25.5k (+2.7k or +10%)

Yesterday's peak 32.8k. If the rate holds, peak tonight will be 36k

Yesterday's low 10.5k. If the rate holds, low tonight will be 11.5k

Looks life Cryo day popped the users! First cryo day was +18%, last week was +2.5%, so far today +10%

note. Easter weekend, many people, in the UK anyway, are off work now until Tuesday.

They havt to react somehow, the question is what they're going to do. Discount? PS+? F2P on all platforms? Just pull the plug entirely? The game does seem to have a small fanbase.
They had 2 options in my opinion, free to play on all platforms or P.S plus for only playstation

Canada gets tomorrow off. Gov workers get Monday off too.

We'll see how it plays out for USA peak. I googled it (hope I got it right):

USA. Good Friday and Easter Monday not stat holidays, though some states/companies will do it
Canada. Good Friday is, but Monday is not unless it's a gov or regulated industry like banks
France. Easter Monday is, but Good Friday isnt except one area I think
UK and Germany. Both days are stat holidays

But at first glance, it makes sense the afternoon had high CCUs if UK and German gamers have tomorrow off.

Yeah, they need to do something drastic and quickly. The game is bleeding out badly and its numbers are just too low, its not working the way its designed now. Either big change is coming very quickly or the game will die soon.

He has been completely absent from this thread for quite a while. Before, he would religiously claim Marathan had good retention.

Marathon will keep on blastin , maybe blasting itself to Oblivion sometime (the bad kind of Oblivion though..... not the Elder Scrolls).

You're afraid of Marathon and the genre itself. It's plain as day to see.

The longer Bungie works on Marathon, the more it has a chance to turn it around. I can hear it in your voice.

Extraction is the omega genre. We all know it, though some are not willing to say it out loud.

Bro, I'm saying this because I care:

Marathon has its best day over day increase since Cryo launched and still dropped on the DAU rankings. Points towards a holiday bump increasing all games.

I got Marathon on both PC and PS5. I am a Marathon enjoyer, but I do know that it is not log for this world It was fun for the time I've played it, but I really have seen myself going back to Arc Raiders for my silly little extraction shooter fix. There's just something about killing clankers that is so satisfying.

This should come with the caveat of admitting you were acting like a retard when it doesnt.
I can definitely admit when I was wrong but I've prophesized too many realities to have that label make any sense.

When Steph Curry hoists the Finals MVP trophy above his head, nobody cares about the 35 3 pointers he missed in the series. Gaastrodamus is OK with not hitting 100% of his predictions.

And again, I agree with everyone that Marathon is in trouble, but make no mistake, it's not dead yet...

Keep in mind if ur succesfull prediction rate is under 50% u are worse than rng :D
I mean u are still well above pachter who predicts basically 100% gaming events/news/trends wrong, but is it something that any1 can brag about? :messenger_smiling_hearts:

That's like saying "If you hit a baseball less than 50% then you are worse than a random bat."

A lot of my predictions were extremely unpopular before they came true.

I'd say my track record looks pretty good on broader trends...

- GAAS would continue growing.
- The Extraction genre was the next big thing
- "Humans are social animals, games haven't reflected that" ----> Rise in friendslop

When you zoom in it gets murkier but I'd still say my batting average was way better than market average considering everyone says every new GAAS game is going to flop.

The best 3pt shooters in the NBA miss ~60% of the time.

Mods, do I have permission to be the most insufferable twat imaginable if / when Marathon bounces back to healthy CCU levels? Hell hath no fury like a Marathon fan disrespected for 100 thread pages...
You don't seem to live in a healthy reality mate, and you seem to lack any form of self-awareness

I want you to consider another reality...

We're mostly dudes talking about something as frivolous as videogames. We use humor and caricature to make fun of each other for being right and wrong about silly topics.

I may not be a funny man, but I will not stop trying just because some people take videogame discussion too seriously.

I asked u specifically about particular games, gimme titles of gaas games u predicted to be success, and titles u predicted to be a failure/flop/not a success in last 5 years.
Not some rando prediction that no1 atm can even tell if its true or not

But that comment about "early access" is not a good thing and I'd posit is arguably a big reason why people are sick of GAAS.

For ASS GAAS games, if all you've made is a worse mousetrap, it kinda doesn't matter how big the mousetrap genre is.

This difference compared to SP games -where demand is constantly resetting- seems to not be adequately taken into account. They are selling a product/service into the market, not buying common stock in 'GAAS' or 'extraction genre'.

"My God I am a legend..."

- Called ARC Raiders.
- Predicted the BF6 collapse during its honeymoon phase.
- The 2023 PlayStation Summer Showcase (4 GAAS titles) was better than the Xbox show everyone was glazing.
- Said Marvel Rivals would eventually be overtaken by Overwatch during Marvel Rivals launch week.

"Maybe I am human..."

- Said most of PlayStations 12 Live Service titles would hit.
- Got Concord wrong.
- Got Wildgate wrong.
- Marathon isn't looking too hot right now.

This is a borderline useless exercise because I'm sure my memory is failing here in a lot of ways. That said, I'm King Tut when it comes to the broader trend predictions.

But that comment about "early access" is not a good thing and I'd posit is arguably a big reason why people are sick of GAAS.
Disagree wholeheartedly. That descriptor allows for the building of bigger, better fortresses. The old "build a sandcastle by the shore" limits game design in a lot of ways.

It definitely would improve knowing this is just a persona and you are not completely detached from reality

Isn't this game on Xbox? Why would console warring be a problem? Apparently it didn't sell on Xbox at all.
It also seems to be as many Sony fans that dislike the game because they want them to invest back into SP games and stop shutting down beloved studios to support the Gaas addiction.
