Graphical Fidelity I Expect This Gen

Crimson may be the most graphically broken game i ever played...ue5 games are heaven in comparison, dont fuck with me.

They really need to fix this shit asap.

Yesterday i explored a small dark cave and i can't even fucking describe how bugged it looked...i thought my gpu was dying for the amount of visual noise and shimmering there was inside.

I still have rr forced to profile E, maybe they reverted to profile D because of these artifacts but Profile E looks much more cleaner outdoor...

Yeah it's super uneven. It can look incredible at times (especially day time) and like complete dogshit in other places (and TOD).

Just played a really cool battle scene. Lots of NPCs. A LOT of enemies on screen at once. So much going on. I cant recall the last time a game allowed me to fight in such a massive area with no loading in between. It felt like a true sandbox. It took so long that day turned to night and all the fire and explosion effects were really cool to see in an otherwise pitch black warzone.

The castle at the end looked absolutely gorgeous too. Beautiful lighting. AI cant replicate this. Whoever designed this room deserves a raise.

Why is there so much aliasing in the altar?

You do realize GOW Ragnarok came out on PS4? It looks and plays beautiful for a PS4 title
We are comparing the ps5 version here

Horizon also has a ps4 version but the ps5 version punch way above its weight for a crossgen, while being a gigantic open world...

Most cross-gen games don't have dramatic differences in graphics. Studios aim for specific baseline specs, which for Ragnarok was clearly the PS4. Better hardware will improve in certain aspects(Ray Tracing, FPS ect)

Guerilla Games definitely went out of there way to show off PS5. Forbidden West still looked amazing on PS4, but they purposely cut out the PS4 for their DLC

Looks really good. All that aliasing where the light is hitting the shrine thing/steps is bothersome though.

its the worst. i wouldve taken a baked GI game over this mess and it is a fucking mess.

Whats weird is that some castle interiors dont look that bad, but the caves are broken, the barns and other smaller rooms are broken. i did a story mission in a tower and lighting was literally hallucinating. i hated every second of being in there.

Thank fucking god, i thought i was going crazy.

What is the fastest fix they can deploy to solve this? You think it is a core flaw of the engine?

With it being such a big financial success and Pearl Abyss being very active with patches, hopefully we'll see a much better version of this game 6 months from now. I'll be happy to return then.

But i want to play now :messenger_loudly_crying:

It is almost a non-problem outdoors and thankfully 85% of the game is outdoor...

But outdoor you have other problems...

I've said this a few times, but outside of all the strange bugs, I just feel the general IQ of this game sucks right now. It puts a damper on all the cool visual highlights when the foundation of the game is ugly.

I am convinced Crimson is the noisiest game ever made, its like the devs took every single compromise to image quality and image stability possible just to save on performance everywhere they can. Crazy is that its still impressive despite that, but they really need to give us more graphical options.

lol yes e we have to use preset e or outdoor areas are full of their own artifacts.

Then there is rain that makes the game look like a 240p ps2 game. I've never seen something so pixelated. This is what series s owners must be used to.

The night time outdoor lighting is also fucked.

I'm sorry im loving the game but this isn't dethroning ac shadows. You can't release a game with this many visual glitches in 2026. This game might have higher highs than ac shadows but shadows is much more consistent.

These words make me horny.

All signs point to Sony going back to their roots next gen. exclusives with good graphics.

lol they shut down the studio responsible for the amazing CG in House of Dragon just a couple of days ago. These buffoons dont know wtf they are doing.

More of this slop hitting Twitter timeline.

It's funny how they crave photorealistic graphics but then don't want it when games actually strive for that, they'll cry that games shouldn't chase photorealism. It's absolutely contradictory to a point where they don't even know what they want at this point.

Thats a bummer.

But look at it this way. The company is cutting costs where returns are weaker (film/VFX) and doubling down on where profits are strongest (PlayStation). Shutting down the VFX studio to invest that money in gaming = Win for gamers

Just have to see if they were worth the purchase. I am going into next gen fairly optimistic despite the disaster this gen/current times.

its just engagement farming. they dont actually care about any of this. if they did you would see them post examples from dozens of games that have come out this gen, instead of reposting the same RDR2 clips and comparisons over and over again.

If they actually played Batman AK and DriveClub on consoles today they would see that it looks like dogshit thanks to the terrible AA running on 4k screens. Game still looks marvelous on 1080p screens and some levels with snow dont have as much aliasing but its fugly on modern tv screens.

these guys just shut down Bluepoint and increased the price of consoles by $200. they are literally selling thousand dollar consoles while being the most profitable they've ever been. there is no hope. no silver lining. they are doing everything to maximize profits. they know full well that no one is buying a $650 console this late into the gen when low income families finally used to pick up a Playstation for $99-250. thats what got them from 80 mllion to 120 million. seems they are content leaving that market behind which is going to have a really bad impact on growing the industry. all those kids are not going to grow up on playstation which will kill the industry in the long run.

Sony knows this. they just dont care. Anyone who is raising prices does not give two shits about this industry. They shut down this prestigious studio after acquiring it just 4 years ago. just like they did with bluepoint. they dont give a fuck about any of this. its a company run by bean counters now.

After 5pm in the game it's game over. It looks absolute ass. There's noise fucking everywhere and the lighting looks horrendous. It looks worse than TW3 which released 10 years ago, I'm not kidding. During day time though, it looks like nothing else released, it's very impressive. I wish there was a button to skip time in this game.

It's an extremely inconsistent game visually from my time with it on the PS5 Pro. At times it could fool some people as a PS6 open World game with how high quality the assets are, at the right time of day with all those NPC's on screen and RTGI in full flow. At other times it looks like an early PS4 game. It's just part of what happens when you combine extremely realistic lighting with such a stupidly large World.

The thing with open world games is that one moment you are shitting on the graphics and then they turn around and make you look like a chump.

This area looked so serene and beautiful.

hm idk but looking at the buildings you are noticing they are reaaaally low poly, it looks so bad.

yeah i see it now that ive zoomed in but that wasnt the case on my tv screen. game definitely needs virtualized geometry. I saw some mountains that looked really bad. Almost as bad as FF7 Rebirth mountains.

ok, this extended look has some pretty solid visuals. I can tell that the game will have its moments once they ship it. I think they might be showing it off a bit too early but its shaping up to be a looker.

The tweet is insinuating a much broader issue. Ironically, Driveclub was part of it.

I want "skip the nightime" option or meditation similar to AC games (or TW3). Most games look like shit at night but this one takes it to the next level.

I was never the biggest fan of dynamic TOD, I prefer AC Unity system with few good looking fixed TOD options (Second Son was also like that?).

Ugh, bad nighttime lighting is a plague on open world games. It almost always looks like shit. There's so few games that get it right.

I just wish devs would have some balls and make it actually fucking dark. I can't speak for CD (haven't played it), but most games just slap a blue filter on and call it a day.

Yes this and lords of the fallen 2 take full advantage of UE5 and could easily give next Cory game Run for its many if SSM didn't truly upgrade their tech to current graphics standards

I don't think so. Environments and lighting look off for some reason.

Because its not actually fun to play. The invention of the light bulb changed the world. You can't do anything if you can't see.
