Supergirl | Official Teaser Trailer

Preemptive damage control for empty theaters. Hard pass

Yeah, I don't know why PR hasn't shut this kinda stuff down. Basic common fucking sense says that when dipping toe into male world, do not put down male because they WILL WALK AWAY. So either own your performance and put out some confidence, or be quiet, bat eyes prettily, and wear a tight shirt and short skirt. There are no points to be won with that kind of statement, "the girls" are not gonna turn out to support you because THEY NEVER FUCKING DO, regardless of how hard you chase them.

I'm really surprised the actual plot of this film, that of Supergirl helping the waif to get revenge, isn't more front and center, rather than just "supergirl is a haaaaaaard drunk". Revenge tales (featuring men) usually sell pretty well and if there is any woman that can break the barrier for woman (where so, so many have floundered) it's SUPERGIRL who could be a bombshell in a skirt tossing dudes through walls.

More and more Mamoa in the promos though, as expected.

She gets hate right now and has been since the first trailer. I see people mocking her looks very often on social media. I hope that is a small part of the DC fanbase.
I really don't get the shitty stuff I've seen from some people online talking about how she looks. I don't necessarily think she's the single most beautiful woman in the world but she's a good-looking girl and seems like a good fit for the role.

I think I maybe mentioned this earlier in the thread, but the comic this is adapting uses True Grit as its structure, with Kara in place of John Wayne. It is a lot about revenge and them chasing after their target to get it. Not sure just how closely the film will stick to that though.

I really hope it keeps the narration element the comic had, since I think that could give it something to stand out more since, as we've seen in this, for now it feels like GotG to a lot of people.

Her looks are the best thing so far though.
Not sure about the dog plot though. Sure I love dogs and don't want them dead. But it being a save the dog story sounds so lazy. Like when you don't like the plot? Do you hate dogs or something? damage control

Straight from Warner's PR department. Did the same with the Snape actor few days before the Harry Potter trailer. It's getting very tiring.

I just want it all to burn, in particular Avengers. Especially as they have played their joker (RDJ) card. Just want to know what they would do then.....

I mean she is being mocked for her looks in this thread lol

Good stuff man, just be a blatant sexist asshole about a woman complaining about blatant sexist assholes.

Also imply that all men are being put down by these comments, rather than.. blatant sexist assholes.

She brings it up. What is your takeaway from her comments? What does she think Supergirl's role in DC has been? And how do you think she views the audience for this project?

Seems pretty obvious how that character fits in a male IP, just like stereotypical roles MEN play in stuff for women. Should some guy elbow his way into a feminist empowerment film and loudly declare "I have a PENIS, that is threatening to some of you, but I can't really stop you. I can only be myself." No, of course not. That product is not for him, or even for men. Its a woman's equivalent of John Wick, where the woman wins, beats all the bad guys, and comes out on top despite all her poor decisions and nary a whiff of accountability comes her way.

No different than how a guy kills a room full of mooks, picks up a scantily clad princess from the corner, and walks away to a night of sex and a bag of gold from her father for bringing her back. Or men (and a few women) running towards the sound of danger to put themselves into harms way so their loved ones and the people they protect can survive. These concepts don't play equally for men and women, certainly the audience for them is quite skewed. PR is about bringing IN an audience, not turning them away.

She was asked about it, she didn't "bring it up." We don't know the exact question but it's clear the interviewer brought the topic up.

From the actual interview:

Has the famously fickle Game of Thrones fandom prepared Alcock for the inevitable backlash she'll face? "It definitely made me aware that simply existing as a woman in that space is something that people comment on. We have become very comfortable having this weird ownership of women's bodies," she says. "I can't really stop them. I can only be myself.

It's a pretty nothing comment. She got called ugly a lot by Game of Thrones fans, she's getting called ugly a lot by DC fans.

All things considered ("I can't really stop them. I can only be myself.") she's taking it all pretty well and not making a big deal about it.

How do I feel about the comments? I feel for her or any famous person man or woman getting shit on for their looks.

Why does she call him Clark? Seems weird.

Awful trailer. At least Jason Mamoa is having his lifetime wish fulfilled so I guess there's that.

THAT'S FUNNY BECAUSE THE MAJORITY OF PEOPLE WHO DON'T LIKE REAL WOMEN ARE TRANS.
the-simpsons-source.gif

They've been doing everything they can to strip them of their rights.
You can just say you made it up if there's not a source. The idea of a study to find the opinion of "the majority of people who don't like real women" is kinda silly, right? That's why I asked.

You could disagree but it doesn't make you right.
Anyone paying attention to what's been going on, even with the movies and games industry can see it.

So provide a source?

If it's just "I feel like this is the case" then fine. But you talking about "the majority of people" made it sound like you were talking about something that's backed up by some kind of substance rather than just your feelings..

Don't kill the Dog. looks mediocre.

A better movie would and did kill the dog, so why not? A Supergirl movie where she self-destructs and becomes the villain for real sounds pretty interesting to me.

There's way too many hero super movies, give us one where all the heroes are beyond saving and end the world. What a hard cut to credits that would be, Earth exploding, by the hands of DC's finest.

They are not killing the dog. But apparently they have had 8 different ending so they may not know what they are doing.

Don't want supergirl as a villain. Unless it is red kryptonite.

Perhaps, but as someone how enjoyed the Superman movie quite a bit - this Supergirl one looks cliche and boring as hell. I was sort of excited for something crazy from the few seconds we got in the end of Superman, but wow did they go full reverse on that, I don't want some dumb, sad story of her saving her dog (hell they already did that in Superman to a small degree). But maybe that's just me.

I'd have taken a Green Lantern team movie over this. At least Green Lantern and Mister Terrific could make the movie worth watching. I dunno, this looks like it has none of the energy Superman brought, so I don't see how they think it would attract the audience of Superman at all.

For real, they had to cut out some of the scene in Superman when the dog got hit too hard by that girl because the test audience reacted badly. No way they gonna John Wick it lol
