I've been getting my consoles at launch for several years now because I see it as a way of maximizing their value by maximizing the amount of time I own and use them.
However, I almost skipped the PS5 launch because my Steam and PS4 backlogs were so big, I didn't feel like there was a need to rush. Ultimately, the real deciding factor in my buying a PS5 at launch was the inclusion of Demon's Souls in the lineup (the PS3 version is one of my favorite games).
But now, I still feel like this generation has barely even started, even though we're over five years in. And
with Sony's recent announcement of huge PlayStation console price hikes, I'm concerned about what that implies for next-gen pricing in general. My backlog is also getting insane.
So, is anyone else who typically buys consoles at launch thinking about pumping the brakes on next-gen?
For me, it's not as much a money thing as a value issue. I just don't see where they can take console gaming that's going to justify the cost of an expensive new console. And their game output volume and variety this gen are the worst they've ever been.
