Yeah, I mean, it happens all over the place these days. That could very well be the reason they took this approach. But, I still feel like an attempt would've been pretty cool. Rather than just straight up announcing it and putting it on a poster, lol.

Deadpool & Wolverine is like the 'adult' version of the same formula. Turn your brain off and eat popcorn while you point and laugh at <insert character here> from <insert franchise here>

I don't think it was garbage but it definitely was a bit vapid. One could tell it is from the creators of Minions.

And that's my problem here with this Starfox announcement. They are going to keep reaching into the well and using cameos and memberberries as long as they can stretch it out, when Mario doesn't really need this level of "jingling keys" and guest appearances to gather audiences.

I have just accepted that these movies probably won't age well. The only thing my nieces and nephews even really remember from the first one is the peaches song and the mario kart moment.

Again some people like this now, but I am very curious to see the reactions in a few years if they start pulling these types of moves for the more serious I.P. like Zelda, like Metroid, etc.

It's all for Super Smash Bros and while I am shitting on the film his model for the movie is by far the best he's ever looked.

Yeah but they're taking the 2010s DC movie strategy and are speedrunning into Smash Bros.

We all want Smash Bros but it would be better after a buildup of individual movies, not as a springboard into other solo movies.
 
Holy shit, what if they're opening the flood gates to have Mario have access to all the galaxies to their franchises, like Metroid, Kirby, Kid Icarus, Star Fox (already happening). Zelda, etc.

I guess I'm just excited at the possibility of more Nintendo games. I love their series and want more!

They're really building the NCU, huh? I'm all for it.

Agree, but probably they have another surprise prepared in the movie. I am expecting Kirby or Samus.
 
I'm not seeing this "Nintendo Cinematic Universe" everyone is talking about. I'm seeing another Mario movie with some cameos from other Nintendo characters. I think we'll be getting more Mario movies with more cameos, I don't think we'll be getting a Smash Bros movie. And I don't think we'll see Link and Mario in the same movie.

Is already happening… And looks like Pikmins are going to be in the movie too, and Fox is not a cameo at all. The Smash movie is just matter of time.

How is it happening? We have two Mario movies, with a few cameos. We're not getting a Star Fox movie, it's just not a very popular franchise. So they give him some screen time here instead.

They are introducing the characters in the movies. They already have Mario, DK, Luigi, Toad, Star Fox, etc etc… They are preparing the terrain for a Smash movie, is obvious.

The only character you're mentioning who is from outside the Mario universe is Fox...

That is where I was. No need to announce this. I think it was speculated, but it is more fun when it is a surprise like all the dumb MCU stuff.

I think it has been confirmed that Donkey Kong will not appear in this movie (maybe with the exception of a small cameo?) because Universal and illumination are already developing a stand alone Donkey Kong movie with Seth Rogan returning.

Tbf, it's a Mario movie. No one should be expect Shawshank Redemption or Lord of the Rings type storytelling lol. I just want to see fat man go jump jump and that's good enough for me.
 
Well, a new (and GOOD, Nintendo!) Starfox would be VERY welcome (again Nintendo, stop trying to reinvent the wheel with star fox, Jesus H. Christ!)
