Crimson Desert feels like something special!

Game is great, the combat is so good, ppl got to acostumed to light attack / heavy attack / roll from souls games, in this game you can play simple or flash, there is no mandatory way and the freedom the game gives to you is fantastic.

How anyone can say the combat in this game is boring or over complicated is beyond me. ( early boss fight spoiler )

I really think there is a "agenda" against this game.

This is Ongbal playing a game that he feels has clunky controls. I'm looking forward to seeing how creative he gets once he masters it.

I tackled a bandit that was running away. Punched his face while on top of him. Tied him up. I went to put him on my horse to turn in but didn't see that option. So I went to a cliff and threw him off. He landed in the water where people were fishing and drowned. Good stuff. 10/10.

You just get on the horse and the crazy bastard with the lumbar of steel rides with these derelicts on his shoulder still. Makes me and my 44 year old back cringe lol

Played 8 hours today and am liking it much more now. It picked up significantly when I veered away from the main quest and just did whatever I wanted. Still not liking the clunkiness of the inventory or controls, but I'm getting used to them.

People saying the 1st few hours are frustrating, I'm trying to find what was frustrating about it, it's the fucking tutorial dummies! yeah the character is weighty but still really good, the only frustrating part for me is the damn game crashes every hour or so of playing it.

Didn't find it frustrating personally, just a little awkward as there's a lot to figure out at first. Loving every minute now as it carries on. 🔥 Want to stay up all night playing, alas 💀.

Yeah, the controls are bit overwhelming but I din't find them frustrating, their is a learning curve for sure! But all games do.
Same with Stellar blade on ps5. Once you get use to it, it is so much fun and excellent combat, which was also the same case with Stellar blade

Yeah but all his doing is like pressing L1 for parry, R1 for attack, R1 + triangle and triangle + circule for suplex.

It may be clunky but its far from over complicated

Surely you can see why it's frustrating when people say they're enjoying the game and you respond by telling them they're not actually enjoying it, just "coping." That's not going to land well, especially on a game forum.

Most people just say "this isn't for me" and move on. It gets weird when someone starts insisting others aren't really having fun despite what they're saying. That's where it starts to feel like projection rather than criticism.

You gotta give it to the devs, the amount of detail in every little thing is what I love about this game, is the kind of game that you lose track of time exploring. I get it that some people are hating it cause the MMO DNA is palpable in every corner, but I do feel they honor the best like RDR2 and the witcher 3, Im loving the vistas, the npc reactions, this engine has a lot of promise!, would def recommed anyone to play this game.

Console? I don't have any crashes on PC (so far).

I heard that disabling HDR helps on pro...

For anyone wondering what to do after tackling a fugitive. First and foremost, when you're in the vicinity of them, you'll notice a "cop/police/law" or whatever heck the symbol is icon on your map moving around. You have to "tackle" then punch him/her/it in the face a few times for the "tie up" option appears. Once tied up, you then have to aim at/highlight the tied up fugitive and "Carry" them on your shoulder. You can then hop on your horse. You then have to then take them to the nearest jail oupost. Look for a round- top, barred door symbol/jail cell door on your city map. Just approach the guards near the holding cells and the cutscene will play out. They'll reward you as you turn the criminals in. Or like another person Gamer_By_Proxy Gamer_By_Proxy here said, just throw them off a cliff. :messenger_tears_of_joy:

Found a gray chonker of a cat that I'm befriending. Have to wait until tomorrow to feed and pet him more.
That's it, I'm buying a copy.

Asked this in the OT but thought I'd ask here too.

Someone tell me how responsive are the controls? My biggest gripe with launch day gta5 and rdr2 is how unresponsive the controls are. Feels like you press an action and take a nap before it responds.

Edit: woops I should say I would be playing on base ps5. Either performance mode or balanced

In combat it's great. Outside of combat there is a lot of room for improvement imo. I bought this on base ps5 and pc and both have their nuances but movement issues the same for the most part. Outside of combat, Rockstar Games movement is the closest comparison I could come up with that it kinda feels like. Picking things up will require some getting used to as well. As far as the latency between pressing a button and the action, it seems fine to me.

I really wish I had the time to dive into those big open-world games. I loved The Witcher 3 back in 2015—it was my runner-up for Game of the Year after Bloodborne. But if it came out now in 2026, I probably wouldn't even get the chance to play it.

20 hours in and I can't stop playing. It's not perfect, but a lot of the unconventional stuff (or "jank" depending on your perspective) adds to the charm.

Absolutely chock-full of the kind of discovery and dense mechanics that make stuff like Souls, Elden Ring, Dragon's Dogma, and older games like Gothic 1 ~ 3 and Riven so satisfying to play.

Ive already got 25hrs in this bad boy. It might be the best/favorite game I've played in I dont even know how long.

Its just so freaking good.

Playing on PC its absolutely gorgeous. The landscape and scenery and some of the temples and ruins you come across with the ambience is just holy shit.

Its an adventurers dream, I cant get anything done because on my way to every quest I come across 5 new things I want to go do. And its not piddly shit, its like "Damn I found this cave and its actually the ruins of a badass temple and now ive been here 20 minutes".

Last night I was doing some random quest, got ambushed by this completely unrelated group that started a new sidequest, ended up finding myself back at their home village which was kinda like the shire or something but deep in this forest. It was night time, the village is buried under a canopy of trees and has this green mist to it, only illuminated by the torch light from the village with this mysterious music playing. It just had so much atmosphere to it I had to stop and take it in. Almost the whole game has been like that.

The combat is freakin amazing. Theres a million ways to fuck people up, they did a really great job with the animation also.

Ive just never played a game like this, its Zelda meets Dragons Dogma meets Red Dead I guess lol.

For the controls.... my god people. Youre not doing helldiver inputs lmao. Sure a couple buttons arent what you'd expect. It takes about 20 minutes to adjust then its never an issue again.

Now go play this game!!

I only have like an hour to play games a day. I'm already at 11 hours with this game. Screw sports, news, second half of the workday, it's all Crimson Desert time now!

Wow, they actually improved the responsiveness in afew days - not bad at all.

Can anyone comment on controller gameplay? Is it better - re jumping, interacting with items, running etc

I agree that it feels special (to me). I can see why people would bounce of it quickly. But the best thing about this game is the ambition - I know some people are "they should have de-scoped that feature etc." but I *really* like the insanity of everything they packed into this game. I'm happy that the team was funded to go as crazy as they did. Of course not everything is as polished as it could be and not everything probably lands perfectly but from my brief 6 hours or so I'm really into it. I've barely done anything in the main quest, just enough to unlock flying basically, and I love the overwhelming sense of freedom I have - go anywhere poke around anything, pick up all the critters etc etc.

The world this team has put together is really good.

Its definitely better yes, it feels more responsive, especially when using with reflex on pc

This game sneaks up on you. The first 5 hours blows really, felt like a weird disjointed Asian MMO and I thought I had made a mistake buying it. Now 15 hours I am really enjoying it, especially the exploration part. Story feels a bit Dragon's Dogma but like in that game gameplay is fun. The fun part with a strange game like this is that you don't really know what to expect. It is quite out there, what even is this weird world.

This only shows that people "I can rate game after 2 hours" are completly wrong with this game, in 2h you are still doing fucking expanded tutorial...

For most other games their statement is true but not for 100+ hours RPG.
