[Games Radar] Xbox just revealed Gaming Copilot is coming to "current-generation consoles" later this year

This ought to go well when people are migrating away from current Windows just to be free from Copilot.

Nobody.Wants.This.
I will believe this when Linux users jump to 10%.

If they can simply reach double digits in ratio compared to Windows, then that will convince me that change is coming.

Someone explain to me like 5 how it's even going to be used or useful in a closed environment?

Is it going to be like Kinect that your console can 'hear' you if you say shit like I need help with this area or something?

It's going to take up be used to take up the headroom in the 20% gap Helix has over PS6. Is that useful enough for you?

"irony off"

I've already disabled that nonsense several times, only to have that crap turn back on after a Windows update.

This trash keeps coming back everytime I update windows

I might just switch to Linux at this point, even if I cant play 50% of my games idc

"Team, we are down. Our hero and savior Phil has left us in the most tulmutous peroid ever. We need a win. Any ideas?"

"Well... follow me here. AI."

"AI?"

"AI!"

They've had this in the Xbox app for a while now. It's literally just a search prompt like Google. It's nothing. I've never used it and it's never been intrusive. There's so many knee-jerk reactions here.

Copilot: "For the last 3 hours I've noticed elevated sweat levels and declining social balance. Your Elden Ring session has been suspended. Please call your girlfriend and rejoin society. Game access returns in 6 hours if behavior improves. Your account has been locked."

Why do this on current gen when next gen is out next year…unless they are expecting cross gen to be really long.

I've used it a few times to help attributing points in rpgs, works pretty well for that.

PS5's requires support from developers basically building in the hints and tips into the game metadata I'm pretty sure.

Not that an AI version is full proof or anything, but it doesn't require developer support.
For the few games ive seen use it, all I saw was that it linked to some YouTube videos

Microsoft trying to push AI into every goddamn thing. Hey Microsoft, if I want to ask AI something, I can just alt-tab to my browser. If I am playing on a console, I can just pick up my phone.

It's likely to be constantly scanning your position in game and status I am thinking. Supposedly to "help" you in game but in reality helping with training and getting more data.

Plus "higher Copilot adoption in our gaming business sector". Think of the shareholders!

If Microsoft does it right, Gaming Copilot could be pretty helpful for tips, builds, or getting unstuck in games.
Right. Here's me asking CoPilot for help in a game that hasn't been released, fighting a boss that doesn't exist:

AI is fucking useless for video game assistance because it can't not hallucinate answers to shit it doesn't know.

Keep this fucking shit out of my fucking video games.

Doesn't matter; they'll still get your user data simply by it being installed.
Oh no. You don't think these gaming companies don't already get all your info. How do you think they put out those
# hours played
# of zombies killed
# guns collected
# hours spent trying to look up the female characters skirt
Tweets?

I remember the controversy when people were beating up a feminist in red dead redemption I think.

Microsoft are peeping Toms.

I'm seriously thinking of disconnecting my series x from the Internet before they destroy it.

What does this even provide exactly. Legit wondering
Instead of picking up your phone and google how to beat Groal, ask Copilot.
No idea if this means that you'll need a headset with a mic or if they'll sell controllers with a mic. I ain't typing a question on a controller that's for sure.

Cool I'll just let it play Dark Souls for me while I go to work.

I'll be on 1000/1000 achievements by the time I'm finished for the day. No biggie.

Microslop strikes again.
On PC it's easy to fully disable
shitty bloat like this. Will probably be a bit harder on consoles.

AI has its place in coding (which can be verified to be correct by proper usage of tests), and 2D art since that's subjective, but they simply cannot be trusted for most other tasks.
They constantly spit out nonsense, or "hallucinate" bullshit since they're forced to come to an answer or conclusion.

What user data?

For game data, Nintendo for example has telemetry up the rectum on Switch. Almost every fart you make in-game is routed to HQ. Everything is already logged by everyone on every platform.
Here's a fun write-up: https://zeldamods.org/wiki/Telemetry
They know exactly what you do and how you do it.
