Next single player game to break 1M daily players on Steam?

I mean Starfield was the no.1 wishlisted game on Steam for over a year, and it had what?, 360k ccu or something?.
I believe Balders Gate and Hogwarts both had under 500k ccu, and they are 2 of the biggest SP games on Steam in recent memory.

It just doesnt happen that often, even with MP games. When you have a store with literally tens of thousands of games available, its just the way it is.

Yeah wishlisting at best is quite the red herring.

Review embargo seems to matter more than people realise. My theory is that, Often with games that get announced early, people will hit the wishlist on steam and wait for reviews. If the embargo is on release date or shortly thereafter, the Steam user scores dictate the sales for obvious reasons. Games that are reviewed early before release and get good ones naturally people maintain the wishlist to buy, rather than games that get bad early reviews and people cancel to buy later in a sale. Often, FOMO sets in before reviews and people pull the trigger.

I can't see Crimson Desert hitting 1m CCU.

I think he can make it.

I know you're trying to be cute but none of those would even crack 100k. The majority of PC users dont care, which is part of the reason Sony is stopping (supposedly).
Well thank goodness for that. Steam can keep their random indie budget games.

See, I was looking intently at both Witcher and RDR2 because I thought those would have been super high, but in fact;

Obviously, the Steam userbase was much smaller back then, and RDR2 came out on PC LONG after most had already played it.

Still I thought at least Withcer would be a lot higher.
Witcher 3 came with GOG key when we still used to buy boxed games for PC, RDR2 also only released on R* launcher at first and only later on Steam.
These are some of the very rare games where I did the double dip just to have them on Steam, and just to replay them especially W3 after so many years.

Maybe Witcher 4 can hit that mark, I'm not sure since it's a big change with Ciri.

Both games are being played by 20-40k players daily over 7 and 10 years...because they are pretty good sp games everyone should play imho.

My money would not be on that purely because it has most of it's fanbase on Console... not that it's a bad thing or anything like that, I juts wouldnt have my money on the big steam numbers. It will sell like hotcakes on xbox though

Would it? I would imagine most XBox owners will just play it on GP, including myself? I haven't bought a game on XBox in years.

I think it will be difficult for Crimson Desert being a relatively unknown quantity and the embargo one day before release. Might be too many people taking a wait and see approach.

TW4 and TES6 would have a very good chance. GTA6 possible, but the delay will make it more difficult than people think imo.

All of the single player RPGs listed in this thread will most likely sell 5+ million copies, so CCU won't matter for them.

It never did in the first place

I can't see Crimson Desert hitting 1m CCU. I predict 250-300k for that one, maybe 400k if it reviews very well (which I doubt).

Besides GTA6, I think Black Myth 2, Phantom Blade Zero and Tides of Annihilation have a good shot at hitting 1m+ CCU. There is prolly another Chinese game I haven't seen yet that people are excited for.
Agree with Crimson hitting 300-400k. It's number 5 on Steam's top sellers and we still have 2 weeks to go.

I don't see Black Myth 2 hitting the insane 2 mil, but I can see it hitting 1-1.5 million. Phantom and Tides I see hitting 200-250k. Really solid numbers but not literal record breakers.

Even games with gigantic sales like Elden ring and Hogwarts legacy didn't make the cut.
I guess Black myth 2 if Chinese players still want it like the first game, cyberpunk 2 or the Witcher 4. GTA 6 will be there, although it is hardly single player focused.

Black Myth Zhong Kui definitely.

Witcher 4, Hogwarts Legacy 2, GTA6, maybe even Divinity.

See first post. Baldur's Gate 3 was 875k, Hogwarts Legacy was 879k. Elden Ring at 950k, Cyberpunk at 1.05 million.

What a weird thing to say.

High CCU may not "matters" per se but it's a clear metric that something is selling well: it tells you a given game had a high amount of copies sold in a short timeframe.

Also, to the OP: not to be pedantic but CCU are NOT "daily players". They are users active at the same time.
The two stats have obviously very high chances to be proportionally correlated, but they are very different.

You could easily guess that anything reaching 500k CCU has probably reached AT LEAST twice that many daily users, if not even more.

CDPR games will hit over 1M concurrent.

The last Witcher game was 10 years ago and is one of the most beloved games of all time, so the anticipation for W4 is through the roof.

Cyberpunk 2077 sold over 35M copies and the game continues sell very well to the point it's still the main revenue driver for CDPR even after 5 years. Cyberpunk 2 will sell like gangbusters b/c other than Rockstar with GTA, no other company can make these type of open world games b/c of the huge budget and resources needed.

Some here have said GTA6 can break 1M, but with the delayed release strategy where the PC version will come 2 years later, it's hard to predict.

Other than that I don't think any other game will break 1M in the near future unless Elden Ring 2 gets announced or a Black Myth Wukong sequel b/c the huge Chinese player base will be all over that.

It's incredibly hard to do as breaking 1 million CCU usually means close to 8-10 million copies sold on PC alone in the first month.

For example RE9 "only" did 340k and most estimates put that at about 2.3 million sold on PC.

There were rumors of Hoyoverse games coming to Steam (totally unfounded, just some weird leaks), so if Genshin Impact makes it to there - it might reach 1M, provided they would offer some kind of DLC or Steam-specific freebies to all players.

Elder Scrolls VI will be huge but I don't see it reaching 1 million
Yeah I would've said that one, but with Bethesda releasing so many stinkers since Skyrim idk. There's also the fact that there's been so long between Elder Scrolls releases now, I mean we have kids turning 15 this year that was born after Skyrim was released...

It depends on the Western media. Three games on the top five list faced various levels of controversy stemming mainly from cultural ideology.

If I made a game and wanted to guarantee its success, I'd put Body Type A & B in it and ask Wired to let the dildo chick review it.

I always used to buy CDPR games on GOG to support CD Projekt Group. Now it's independent more people might buy on Steam and I assume it won't have DRM on either platform.

Crimson Desert will absolutely not hit 1 mil lmao. It won't even reach half that. The only games that could reach 1 mil nowadays is if GTA6 launches day one with the consoles, a new massive chinese game, the next big From game and Witcher 4.
