Who in their right mind is going to invest in anything Xbox at this point?
I will. As I stated in a different thread, I will buy 3 of them. One for me and two for my children. I have easily over 1000 games purchased digitally for my Xbox and I like the idea of them all being in one place. Also, the performance for PC games seems like it will be very high (based on leaks). I'm looking forward to being a day one customer. I have no allegiance to any plastic box manufacturer, I go where my interests take me, and the new Xbox sounds interesting.

If it plays GTA 6 day one even if its running an Xbox Series version what do we call it?

Legit question because I no longer know what to call it

Just read the whole thread. Holy crap how Xbox fandom so goddamm obtuse. LOL
A Windows based machine that can also play your Xbox and PC games. And it will have a 3rd party PC storefronts. That's the whole point of it playing games from any storefront. It is a PC device obviously.

That's the crux of the issue here. You've got folks throwing mud at Keighley but no one really knows for sure what this thing is. I'm still laughing at the idea that we should trust Microsoft's words implicitly here in any case.

Back to your question. What is it?

at least they finally came up with a name that isn't totally confusing, for the first time since the 360. I still can't remember which Xbox Series Letter is the good one and which is the bad one, and the only way to easily make it clear which Xbox you were talking about in the gen before that was to call it the Xbone, which they hated lol.

That's not the console name. It's just a project codename.

It's so hilarious.

Before "Project Helix" was announced and it was all speculation, these absolute drones were okay with the whole "PC" and "PC Hybrid" terminology, because you know, changing their tone for the corporation is what they do.

Then the second they get a whiff of the word "console" again, they're so desperate and go back to saying it isn't a PC and blah blah blah.

Good question...GTA6 would need to binded to that extra chip or something similar.

If they released some hardware product you could slot into your pc to also get that compatibility with Xbox games, I'd absolutely drop cash on it. But I can't justify a whole new console for it when my pc is good lol

Xbox calling a PC a console its just like Sony calling their second/third party games first party... in the end an apple is an apple dont give a fuck how much shills try to call it an orange because their overlords told them so.

Seems like a "Fucked Horse" to me...

The Trojan Horse served a purpose and they won the war because of it
Honestly I don't care wtf it is or what they call it. I'm not giving another single penny to MS so nuttsack can ship it off to enrich india, fuck him and ms.

Tom is thick as pig shit.

Valve have called the Steam Machine a PC because it is a PC, not because it plays PC games.

The hardware from Valve can be used as a PC. You can code on it. Write documents. Create spreadsheets. Edit photos etc. And you can do all of this because it's a PC!

Geoff is correct, this is not even debatable. It's essentially a pc with some hardware bc for your Xbox digital library. People like Tom arguing over the MARKETING semantics are wasting air. if it's running the same windows build of a game that pc gamers are launching in their DIY rigs then the "console" portion of the device is just the front end ui isn't it?

Getting their name on Asha's Twitter background has done wonders to reignite the faithful

They need to be used as marketing tools.
They're making a boxed Win11 gaming PC with Xbox BC.
They need to brainwash the remnants of their community that it's still an Xbox and a new console to get them on board wasting money another time:messenger_grinning_sweat:
Marketing will work hard with Xbox logos and PR calling it a console and shills will try to spread the message.
What they don't get is that it's already a failed mission, there is simply no more credibility left.

Its so fucking stupid.

The whole point is where you're allowed to buy the games and software from. If its a single vendor, then its a console.

If you can buy and play that software elsewhere, using a PC, then its a PC.

Its about generality and compatibility.

If you bought I game off of Steam, I'd expect it to work on PC, and likely on a Steam Deck, or a Steam Machine. But it'd always be a PC game, just running at different config levels to be playable on these console-like devices.

In real terms if whatever MS are offering is effectively a functional PC, in the sense that its capable of downloading and running software from outside of their store-fronts and services, its a PC.

If it cannot, because they've locked it down, then its a console.

The problem either way is perception. If they are selling at a price-point similar to a PC but it has less utility than an equivalently specced PC ***beyond the ability to natively play Xbox branded software*** then its basically a gimped PC being sold as an over-priced console.

You introduce PC into the marketing equation then its always a factor. And the plain fact is that PC is a standard based on an expectation of compatibility... so... its always a PC first and foremost.

Trying to get someone to follow marketing intentions before a device even comes out sure sounds like something a shill would do.
