Year is 2032, will Console owners be still paying for online multiplayer? What happens to PlayStation profits if they were forced to remove that paywall?

Will the PS6 handheld require online multiplayer subscription as well?

This kind of sucks. I certainly won't miss all of the games but there are a few I wanted to play on pc. Guess I can kiss my dream of a demon souls port good buy.

Still need to sell my ps5

After this thread: https://www.neogaf.com/threads/afte...ony-promotes-new-pc-ready-controller.1694273/
and the news that Sony is putting out a DualSense marketed to PC gamers, I'm not so sure that Sony is going the route that the article says. Unless Sony themselves say otherwise I'm going to assume that they're still doing PC ports. We've only heard rumors and 3rd party reporting but nothing from Sony.

I agree. I'm not saying the article is wrong, but I would like to have an official statement on the matter as this is a pretty abrupt shift.

What would be the point in putting out an official statement saying they're stopping PC ports? It would be nothing but bad press and only make fanboys happy. Sony never promised to port every game nor did they ever commit to fully embracing the PC platform. It was always a case by case thing, which is why we never saw GT7 or Demon's Souls. They set the expectations years ago. As far as we're concerned, their pivot was always a possibility, so there's no need to make an announcement. If a game is coming to PC, they'll say so. If not, assume it's exclusive to PlayStation.

Right I forgot PlayStation Asia's X account is running Sony.

They're not going to officially announce this, they're jjust going to stop announcing ports of these games.... which they kind of already did (no astro bot, etc.).

Because the DualSense works on PC? It's apparently the best-selling controller of 2025 on PC. They're also still putting out GAAS and Tokon is coming to PC as well.

It doesn't make sense to release a PlayStation Dualsense controller for PC while simultaneously discontinuing PC game releases. Yes, people can use the controllers for other games, but it is still a PlayStation branded controller. The expectation is that the controller is being released for PlayStation games, and Sony/PlayStation deciding not to release first-party PlayStation games just before announcing their PC controller release would be extremely misleading. That's nonsensical to PC gamers. I already said I'm not going to believe this without confirmation. You guys can double down all you want.

As an aside to diffusionx diffusionx , you provided a single game (which was obviously not going to be ported to PC since a Dualsense controller is mandatory for the game, and there's no way to verify people have that controller prior to them purchasing the game), and then said "etc" like there's some long list of games that weren't ported.

They're still releasing games on the PC, just not their first party single player games, allegedly.

They will still release GaaS and those "2nd party" deals where they don't own the IP.

No? The DualSense works in 95% of games, not just PlayStation ones. They're also still releasing games on PC as you've been repeatedly told.

I wonder if Sony will make any official statements on this topic. I find it unlikely, actually, but maybe their stance will come out in a less direct way. As for the controller, isn't the Dualsense really popular on PC? If so, makes financial sense to capitalize on that trend. Not to mention that there's been no indication that all PC ports are stopping.

Nothing stops them from resuming ports later down the line or even port select games. An announcement wouldn't make sense. However, the fact that Ghost of Yotei, a sequel to one of their most successful games on PC, has been scrapped leads me to believe the next port won't happen anytime soon, if ever.

The only games that Sony is going to release are games that traditionally will be played better using keyboard and mouse. That doesn't make the launch of a PlayStation branded PC controller make sense. I'm not going to continue having an argument about this though. I'm not going to believe this until it's confirmed by Sony or it's confirmed by games actually failing to be released. I don't know why people are acting like I'm an idiot for taking that stance based on other actions Sony has taken.

I would play Kena with a controller over a KB&M. Same with Death Stranding with the analog traversal.

Just like I play RDR2 on the PC with a controller.

From what I understood from the Bloomberg article, they're not going to stop releasing all games on PC.

Live service stuff will still be there, like Helldivers 2, Marathon, and future Destiny games. But the controller… I think that's probably just because it was planned and manufactured before the change in direction.

That's still a true statement though, keyword being "eventually". All games come to PC eventually, if not officially, then they get emulated like the all-revered Bloodborne.
That is what console players are not understanding.

Plus, doesnt PS have the PSNow on pc? That is enough to play their games on PC, when they drop them on the sub.

I played God of war that way, before I bought it on pc.

My man, your xbox shilling is failing. You do realize xbox makes you pay for online too don't you? Stop posting this in every thread about playstation plus.

Only first party wont come to steam, unless its gaas.

Still weird, considering they are going to put those on PS+, which PC players can play it on PSNow.

Sony are never going to "officially" announce they are done releasing their games on PC. That type of announcement just doesn't happen.

What WOULD happen if the Bloomberg news weren't true, is that Sony would make a statement on the article to discredit it.

They haven't done that. The news is true. Simple as that.

Man you crazy LOL!!!!
Do you think Epic Games (Fortnite on console + PC + mobile) would ever want to be restricted to a single console ever again?

PlayStation is feeding their GAAS developers 2x the audience as their SP devs. Over time, where is attention and resources going to go?

This is a bad decision.

It's not designed for PC....

It's a DualSense with an USB-C cable in the box...

I mean who cares?

Controllers are not locked to Playstation, they know it

With Xbox dead, that is not going to be an issue. Plus too many gaas in the market and less players.

GAAS is a nascent concept - two or three game generations at most. It grabbed it current position catering to twitch reflex gamers. It'll grow significantly as they figure out how to include low skill, social, exploration based gamers in the near future.

Games like Peak, Big Walk, Extraction, and Survival have huge growth potential.

Growth meaningless, when players are less.
Too much gaas means players scattering, which leaves less players for new gaas.

Also Gaas burnout is real. This bubble won't last that long.

Not necessarily, they rarely respond to rumours

If Xbox cancels the FH6 PS5 port. I'll bet you guys will all say, "smart move by Xbox, they need to prioritize their console. They are dying".....right?

If they're willing to start their entire business over like it's 2001 - yes, that's a smart move. If they're looking to make money now, it's an awful move.

Sony is in pole position. They are deciding the future from a position of strength, and this makes sense because it's a small short-term loss and a greater medium-term gain.

Microsoft acting similarly from a position of weakness and atrophy is making a choice between guaranteed short-term gain or speculative loooooong-term gain.

It's like asking if a 40-win NBA team with a slightly injured star should tank the season versus a 15-win team with no stars. It's not even sort of the same circumstance.

Growth refers to player growth.
Yes, that is what I am talking. To acheive growth, you need less gaas, and not more.

100 max players. 5 gaas, 20 each. 10 gaas, 10 each. That is the problem now. There is only limited amount of PC players. So the pie gets shrink as more gaas in the market. Not to mention mobile gatcha games.
