Welcome to a world where humans and demons coexist. Souls harboring strong emotions and deep regrets at their time of death are transformed into archdemons. Archdemons have the power to corrupt the foundation of the world and contaminate their surroundings. Creatures tainted by this demonic power turn into lowly monsters that operate solely on raw instinct.

Faced with the threat to the world posed by five extremely powerful demon girls, the High Priestess is forced to dispatch Homura Hime, the "Flame Princess" and the strongest exorcist of them all, and her aide Ann, who are now entrusted with the divine mission of purifying the world and defeating all demons.

They just announced the price, it's gonna be 24.99 US/EUR. I have updated the OT with that info.

It seems to be exclusive to Steam, I can't find anything on this coming out to other stores / 3rd party key sites.

Still no reviews apart from the one from Noisy Pixel, I don't think it will receive any before release, the game doesn't even have an OpenCritic page. :messenger_expressionless:

Skimming comments in the Noisy Pixel Review NP said the game length for him was 15-20 hours and the devs had said it was roughly a 10 hour game.

I'm thinking mostly linear levels, room clear and Touhou arena boss battles.

That seemed to be the feeling from the demo.

Never heard about this but it looks pretty cool!
I like the mix of bullet hell and action, reminds of Furi but with more than just boss battles.
Hopefully it comes to Ps5 eventually

I like the art style and the gameplay seems fun. Wishlisted for now, and I might grab it later once I have time for a short SP experience. Oh, and great OT, mèx!

The game is out with a -10% discount (22 EUR over here):

Here is the release trailer:

I won't be able to play it for a few days since I need to wrap up another game, if someone is playing it can they report back on:
  • How much yapping there is
  • How are the sections between the boss fights
I'm not worried about the boss fights, those seem to be where most of the effort went most likely.

I've been limiting my exposure to this jrpg anime style for a long time, long enough I might actually appreciate it for a bout like this!

Watched for this one since they announce it. Looking forward to play it at some point - too much to play and finish for now.

Started it and played up until the first boss.

The game runs well, I capped it at 120 FPS and it never dropped below that. There are no graphic options aside from resolution and FPS cap/V-sync.

The graphics are simple but pleasant, you can see the game is made on a budget anyway, but the anime artstyle helps hiding the simplicity of the assets.

The controls are smooth, it feels very polished in that regard. Maybe the input buffering is a bit too aggressive, but you get used to it quickly. The parry and dodge can cancel all moves, and thanks to that attacking and moving around feels pretty snappy. The parry window is really lenient and can even be spammed. Some attacks can be parried (there is a sound cue + red indicator), while others must be dodged (usually attacks that generate bullets). The controls are fully remappable, which is nice! I'm pretty happy with how Homura controls, they did a good job.

As with most other character action games, you are going to unlock new moves as you play the game. You can buy both combos and skills at the main hub with the resources you get by playing the main missions. There are quite a few but not too many, which is how I like it.

The levels are mostly linear with normal mobs and some mini bosses. There are secret arenas that you can find as you play the level with dedicated combat encounters.

I just played the first boss, and it was super fun! This is where most of the effort went, and it shows, they are the highlight of the game for sure. The boss was easy, I don't think this is going to be a difficult game at all, but it was flashy and fun to play, which is the important part.

There is quite a lot of dialogue at the beginning, feels like the story is going to be important in this game. This also means there are some interruptions here and there, which some people might not like.

First impressions are pretty positive, let's see how it proceeds.

Finished it in ~15 hours.

I confirm the good impressions from before, it was pretty fun.

The "spectacle fighter" tag from Steam is quite apt, this is not a technical character action game at all, it focuses mostly on being smooth and fun to play without getting too complex. Homura controls really well, the movement is smooth: parrying, dodging and running around feels great. There are two main things I would change: the combo retention timer is too long, sometimes I would still be in a combo when I would have expected it to expire. And the parry is too spammable (it has a long window too). This is a hectic game so I get it why it's like that, the parry should not be too tight, but it should be slightly tweaked at least.

This is not like Furi btw, this has proper levels before the boss fights. The levels are... OK, they do their job, nothing to write home about. You can really see some of the low budget here and in other aspects of the game (invisible walls, missing sound effects, etc), so don't expect too much from the overall production value. The levels are linear and there isn't much exploration aside from some side rooms here and there.

The game has a lot of story and dialogues, if you expect some non-stop action this is not the case. The VA is great but it's partial and only used for important scenes. Characters are lovable/cute and the story was simple and somewhat interesting at times. The soundtrack was cool, especially during boss fights.

The boss fights are fantastic and the highlight of the game, they are hectic and feel good to play. The game is easy in general, so don't expect to die much even on boss fights. I think the devs are working on a hard mode, I might do a replay once that is implemented.

Overall I had a lot of fun, a great first effort from this team, it gets a recommendation from me if you like these kind of games (with some caveats).

From what I could gather from the credits they have <10 core devs so this is a small team (they outsourced some stuff of course). I hope they get to make a sequel or another action game.
