[Bloomberg] Sony Pulls Back From PlayStation Games on PC (Ghost of Yotei port and other internally developerd games scrapped)

Because of being so wrong in such a phenomenally dumb manner and his open acknowledgement that his motivation was 'owning the chuds'. Not a serious voice, sorry.
So you are going on raw emotion rather than actual facts. Doesn't it concern you that one tweet still resides in your brain?

He called the game woke before it came out and still played it, what a hypocrite. He can sit in the corner with those fake boycotters.

You can still play videogames even if they have woke elements, Baldurs Gate 3 has wokism but they are not lecturing you like Dragon Age Veilguard or other recent titles

Not everything is black and white and its not hypocritical to give the benefit of the doubt to some games unless the wokism its egregious and unbearable

you know its a good day when pc chuds start crying

Are you dense? I have a PS5 at home. I can play any game on ps5 I want

His still doing the lords work from heaven :messenger_grinning_smiling:

Line is drawn at it being quasi realistic, aka he couldnt kill k's on mongols, but he could few of them and super believable to kill them 1on1, not in case of tiny fragile female who by default has strenght of 12yo boy, she cant manhandle adult males even if they are on deadbed :P
The line is drawn to fit your argument, there is no realism in either case. Many of the Mongol fodder in Tsushima are twice Jin's size but you don't have a problem with him killing them back to back. Unless we're talking about simulators, suspension of disbelief is always required in games where the protagonist has slaughtered thousands by the end of the game, be it male or female. Choosing to call one realistic while dismissing the other only shows how biased you are which you will not admit as we've had this discussion many times before.

So Nintendo is staying exclusive, Sony is moving back to exclusivity, and Microsoft has hinted towards being "console-first" again.

What weird fucking times. For Nintendo and Sony it makes sense, but there's zero chance Microsoft's strategy is going to pan out if they try going Xbox console exclusive again.

"The people cautioned that things could change in the future due to the unpredictable nature of the video-game industry and that Sony's plans are constantly shifting"

This is from the same article and the same source.... 🤔

It sounds like a temporary strategy in anticipation of the upcoming PS6 (and PS Handheld) launch. In other words, they want to reintroduce the general idea that you'll need a PlayStation console to play certain first-party games, especially with the PS6 in mind (in 2027-28), and the time is now. They don't want (and understandably so) to start a generation where the general feeling is that a PS6 isn't necessary because their games will eventually come to PC and can even be enjoyed on an Xbox.

In the end, it's just a matter of waiting and seeing. That said, we're talking about 6-7-8 games over the course of a generation (if you exclude other Sony first party as GAss games and games with multiplayer components, AA games, and second- or third-party SP AAA games.
I don't know to what extent this will impact in Its business, but it's certainly an incentive for fans and loyal users to stay on PlayStation or at least avoid any hint of looking beyond the existing ecosystem.

Here you are still arguing about it being woke and not explaining why. Topher Topher and Tiago Rodrigues Tiago Rodrigues are waiting.

I played it... and I will call out woke shit all the time. I barely saw anything in there that would be considered "woke" and it certainly wasn't at the forefront, nor was it driving the story.
Did she cook using a wok at some point in the game ?

maybe this was true in 1995, but ever since the 360/ps3 generation, the PC is competing with consoles for this audience. It's why Sony released the PS4 Pro - they saw people leaving PS3 for PC and wanted to keep them. So, continuing with this logic, it makes sense to not give people a reason to leave PlayStation.
Well, the PC crowd largely didn`t care for the games obviously so the PC to PS conversion was probably near non-existent but could at least be evaluated via MAU.
But the other side, PS people leaving for PC, is a purely theoretical thing. Maybe? Maybe not? How would you get statistics for that? Sony could probably see a MAU decline but how would they identify where these people go? They certainly don´t get personalized data from Steam or MS....

Kinda feel like the damage is already done. You get a taste of all their biggest blockbusters to find out if they're worth it.
And imo after trying Spiderman (and many other IP), I have 0 interest in a sequel.

If only they would make something new that's interesting.

I don't want realistic video games. I want to do crazy unrealistic shit.
Same, but some kind of suspension of disbelief has to be there, like in superhero movies, black widow can kill soldiers/guys but she uses technique/agility/ambush but not brute force, since she is physically weaker from them.
Like here:

And not like here:

Quasi-realistic is a man who has infinite stamina and a kill count higher than entire Mongol armies.

And the delusion of "wait for the next E3 and Sony will announce everything day one for PC" is over.
I always said it was easier for Sony to stop releasing games on PC than to start releasing "day one PC" games.
It was the same nonsense with "day one Game Pass," the fanatics swore that Sony would soon release "God of War day one on PSN Plus."

So they start porting stuff to PC, they bring all the woke and california shit but no Bloodborne nor DS Remake and now that they've run out of woke and california shit they decide to close shop? What the fuck Sony. :goog_relieved:

Jason is a dork but his scoops are legit. There's almost certainly truth to this but he did give himself an out.

So Jason basically put his money where his mouth is, sourcing seems strong too.

I've yet to see anyone give any credible reason why, but that's not very surprising as the game was labelled woke at its reveal because reasons and some people have just stuck to their guns. I personally didn't see anything that would raise even an eyebrow after 50 hours, but maybe some of you were convinced by that fake ending some grifters were "leaking".
I watched the entire game and there's basically 0 woke about its content.

The term woke is being rendered meaningless.

Honestly, it feels that way, most of them just wanted the option but never really cared that much, well to be fair to them, the quality went downhill these last few years, that's why PCMR only keep begging for Bloodborne and nothing else, when even PS5 users can't have an updated version :pie_roffles:

For most it'll be a nothing of value was lost, for Sony who knows, they probably crawl back when their GAAS failures piling up force them to go third party once and for all, lmao
Yeah, I said the same thing. Most PC players really don't give a collective fuck about Sony games outside of Helldivers and Stellar Blade. Compare Stellar Blade's CCU and eventual sales on PC compared to other Sony games. It's genuinely mind blowing the difference is. Stellar got almost 200k on it's first day and Tsushima, the second best didn't even get close to half that number lol. Like you said, Bloodborne would probably bury Stellar Blade's numbers but outside of that, nah, PC players aren't slobbering over playing Harlot of War and Ghost of Menstrual Periods. Their collective attitude is a resounding:

Pc gamers didn't buy the ports, the chance for more Sony games is gone now.
They should have released all the good ones. I bet GT and DS Remake would have done great. How did Returnal and Stellar Blade do?

What (I believe) doesn't work on PC is the usual Sony movie-game and/or open-world stuff. People are already tired of those games I think.

Not really that much of a issue, if you really liked Playstation exclusives, buying the PS5 has always been an option. Hell, it's what I do, I enjoy most of their output and despite owning a powerful PC I am not content to wait 2 years to play a game.

Although, knowing Sony and how directionless they appear to be, don't be surprised in a few years when they port everything again.

PC gamers were never huge fans of Sony's singleplayer experiences.
You mean never a fan of games not getting $10 sales.

Sony milked PC for a few billion and now with PS6 coming up they want to reinforce the brand value. They'll go back to PC releases a few years into next gen.

They could be looking at 3rd party sales massively increasing on PC vs PS (i.e., RE9)

Good decision. Now they just need to refocus on content and reduce their dependency on decadent American studios. Find talented teams in China, Korea and Japan

Sony showing Microsoft how its done, and besides when you are in a position of power, you don't have to branch out your catalogue, unlike Microsoft..

Microsoft doesn't give a shit, they just want to sell their stuff. So should Sony.

I did kind of want GT on PC, but that's about it. Astrobot was also very good but not a huge deal.

I hear you. Its always better to play on pc because of DLSS and other graphics advantages but at the same time I have a ps5 so is not a big deal. The problem is that lately Sony hasn't released anything interesting at all,. This generation has been extremely mediocre

Believe it or not, the biggest letdown for me concerning this is going from "very slim possibility" to "never happening" concerning being able to play PS2-3 games on PC without an emulator. Yeah, I wanted to play Infamous 1, 2, ICO or the OG God of War 1-2 (I know the remake won't be to my liking if they change the combat)

Microsoft doesn't give a shit, they just want to sell their stuff. So should Sony.
weird how no one says this about valve, everyone seems to be fine with valve operating in their own platform and even extending it outwards with hardware.

it's almost like there is a hidden agenda here

This is dumb, PC bros aren't gonna buy a PS5 so Sony is just gonna end up losing revenue and relevancy from not having their first party games reach a wider audience.
According to this site they don't release games so who cares. Also we've already seen how much revenue they will lose and it's barely anything.

None of it is realistic but like i said again, gotta be somewhat believable withing the rules of the world, even in those videogamey words females are much weaker physically from adult men so if they wanna win/kill males they gotta use tactics, not brute strenght, look how well they did ellie vs david fight in first tlou, completely 100% believable, even tho ellie was young teenager back then:

No1 bat an eye on that or deemed it unrealistic, we all loved that shit and hell ellie killing him instead of 1 slash from joel made this fight even more epic and canonical, we remember this 12years later like it was yesterday coz it was so well made, ellie was basically a prey who needed tons of luck and use all possible tools at her disposal to kill literall predator, she wasnt strong independend bossbabe who 1shots/manhandles adult males.

This seemed inevitable. Microsoft putting their games day and date on PC was a strategy devised from a reduction in demand for Xbox console hardware. Through own-goal decisions starting from the XB1 they pretty much had little recourse but to spread their games and services elsewhere.

Playstation consoles are a major part of Sony's overall brand, so pushing more and more people to 'wait till its on PC' and subsequently reducing demand for hardware they want to move in the hundreds of millions seemed counter-intuitive in the big picture.

Pc gamers didn't buy the ports, the chance for more Sony games is gone now.
I think that's unclear. We know that Sony made quite a bit of money from the ports in total and some of them sold quite well. We don't know what their targets were and whether they reached them (I would imagine some games didn't) but I don't think that alone is the reason. Ports are relatively cheap and they've certaintly earned their money back and more so why stop? Personally, I would be surprised if that was the main reason. I think the whole thing was a big experiment to see if they could earn extra money without hurting their bottom line so they were probably some signs they didn't like. It doesn't even mean the ports will stop entirely. Maybe they will experiment with later releases (2 years?) in the future. The strategy seems rather fluid for now. And that's assuming the reports are correct in the first place.

I posted the message explaining my view on Yotei in the second page of this post, but you are too busy reacting with lol emojis instead of being an adult and have dialogue like a decent person
Wait, you were serious about a woman killing hundreds of men? Lmao. You should just stop consuming all types of entertainment than. It's a videogame, it's not trying to rewrite history.
