Resident Evil Requiem |OT| Through the Darkness

Nah, i would never waste my money on a overpriced controller with the quality build of a toy and the worst version of a new game, not even if i was rich.

you poor thing, i m playing with path tracing on my PC at ultrawide resolution at higher frames that the SW2 users can only dream about and you know what is cool ? i can play it on my deck ( or phone ) with the same quality using steam link or i can play it natively too.

I love the game but the grace sections can be painful at times. It's prety much a piece of cake to just run past everything so the tension kind of evaporates once you figure that out.

Leon is a blast though

I have to step away after having played an hour, but I can say already I'm excited to see where it's going, and that trading off between Grace and Leon is compelling. In first impressions, it's making each one's tone (horror vs kickass action) stand out even more.

My copy won't be here til Monday thanks to Amazon who's late on virtually all releases now. Can't remember the last time I got a game on release day from them.
Man, Amazon used to be so good too on day 1 releases for me. Crazy to hear constantly now about how bad they've become.

Reflections only work with path tracing
Shit reflections Vs shitter reflections.
Maybe it's a distance thing but the Path Tracing one doesn't look good either in that image
Ray/Path Tracing is good at surface and light reflection genuinely, but god damn mirrors are still best done the old fashioned way.

I really like the black levels in the game, underground areas are suitable dark and oppressive, not a shade of grey or whitewashed.

The FoV being narrow aside, I wouldn't trade Grace's sections from being first person. It just fits really well, IMO.

Interesting, Grace always holds the gun in front of her with two hands in First Person, switch to third and her arms go into a rested position with the gun in one hand.

ok, swapping between Leon and Grace this often is breaking the pacing for me and its starting to get annoying.

"this Grace section is cool, i dont wanna go in that dark room... what is gonna happen next..." cut to black and swap to Leon.

"damn, killing this zombies never felt so fun, i wonder for how long this section ll continue...." cut to black and swap to Grace.

Every fucking single time i start to get invested in one character they change to the other one, imo it is a awful design. Capcom should have make scenario A and B like RE2

Is this different from RE2make? Is it like they dumbed down the enemies too much?

It's probably just me but anyone else love the way Grace aims her gun?

One thing that definitely seems like an annoying oversight is that if you take out all of the zombies in the prison cells in the basement, they still just spawn anyway...
Wasted a lot of ammo and the explosion things to clear the way before-hand but didn't actually matter.

This game looks like a washed out blurry mess in HDR on my Bravia OLED....i think the HDR in game sliders are fucked. On base PS5, other games look amazing so its not my set.

What settings are you all using?

Its been 30 years since Pokémon was launched. Hearts and hobbies changed forever. People collecting living things (virtually), fighting for them, even fighting them together. The 90s seems like it should be centuries ago at this point, but it wasn't. There are still millions of people alive today that were affected by that launch.

Which brings me to Leon Kennedy, the protagonist of RE:R. Leon, like the survivors of the Pokémon launch, knows what it's like to be anxious with excitement. Knows what it's like to fight living things. Heck, dude might even know a thing or 2 about breeding (amirite?). He too was affected by something in the 90s much like our reality was affected by Pokémon, only his was a virus that made people ravenous zombies who ate flesh off of other humans... Which come to think of it, is really nothing like Pokémon.

This my my draft for my application to Polygon ^^^ lmk what you guys think!!!

wtf. I plugged those asshole assuming that they would be unleashed at some point and it was for nothing?
Lame.

Jesus, been trying to find the mouse sensitivity, and I find it hidden under a sub menu under camera....

And where the fuck is the fov setting, it's so fucking narrow, it's a nightmare.

I pre-ordered Blue Prince physical edition from them. On release day I got a delay email, so ordered it from Best Buy got it the next day. Cancelled my Amazon order. Check the item page a day or two later and their estimated ship date updated to like 3 weeks after release.

Apparently there's a yet unsolved puzzle in the game revolving around the girls severed hand , can't find anyone who has solved it yet online

I'm so glad I chose 3rd person for Grace, her animation running way is fantastic.
i don't know what kind of agents FBI "hires" but one thing i know for certain, Grace wouldn't pass in any physical evaluation\test or whatever shit the FBI does to make sure that they agents are fit for the job.

Also the Leon section is great, my biggest fear was it going similar to Chris section in both RE7&8 but nope it's great.

This game is fucking incredible. Half way now - 10/10 masterpiece at this point.

Capcom delivering the best RE game since RE4 OG and/or RE2 Remake. Man I'm happy.

For me I felt like the difficulty was just difficult enough. At the beginning of the first Grace part it feels oppressive and hard - how much you explore IMO determines how comfortable you will feel clearing out the area!

Maybe her mom was deep state/whatever you want to call it , journalism at a certain point was a cover so Grace had a leg up in some respects

Can someone confirm to me if controlling the player still feels like moving a tank?

I've always enjoyed the games, but the stiff movements for the characters has always irked me a bit.
Leon feels fluid and fun in third perso, Grace in first feels a bit slow and tanky. I assume that difference is intentional for what each section is trying to accomplish.

Does anyone know if all of the zombies turn into blister heads? Or is it just random?
Seems random. I got killed at one point and had to reload from 15 minutes earlier. That happened to me in an area that didn't happen before but not the area I traversed on that save

Where you
put the hand in the laser scanner thing and the screen says "let's play a game"?

What do you think of the graphic quality, (besides those pics)? Having in mind all the fuzz about PC and PS5 Pro.
Starting to feel the age of the XSX...

Feels perfectly fine in action, the only visual gripe I can point out is some notable aliasing on finer things like fences etc, that's where the FSR they used on PS5/Series shat the bad a little bit.

Kinda surprising cause the previous RE engine games had better anti aliasing.

But so much of the game takes place in dark areas where that doesn't really come up anyway.

I don't want to mow down everything, i'm ok with doing the famous zombie slalom to save bullets, i just hate being forced to hide and wait lile on the outlast games but it seems like it's just at the beginning.
It's not really like Outlast IMO, more like RE2. The stalker enemies are barely encounterable and most of is choosing when to pop off on zombies or wait to get things in your inventory to come back and end them.

Not a huge fan of the constant character jumping, but I don't like that in books or film either.
Would've preferred a classic RE2 scenario A, scenario B sequence. These are personal preference quibbles though, game seems pretty solid and definitely switches to a more traditional setup once you hit the med facility.
It's more constant in the beginning but as it goes on each of their sections typically get longer and longer.

Just keeps getting better and better, let's just say I'm going out of my way to kill *everything* with Leon lol.

Edit: and I need to say RE9 has the best blood splatter effect in any videogame ever 👌

Btw for those who have 4000 series. Roll back the drivers to 581.42 or below.

Gained about 50% more fps with Path Tracing ON.

Just virgin smashed this for like 4 hours. Actually fucking insane to have some classic Resident Evil level design in a NEW non remake game. Really liked that big Grace section. Saved the game on the third time you play as Leon. I'm done for now.
