Marathon Server Slam (Feb 26 - Mar 2) 𝙄𝙩'𝙨 π™Žπ™€ π™Šπ™«π™šπ™§ / π™’π™š'π™§π™š π™Žπ™€ π˜½π™–π™˜π™

Lol just lost an entire loadout because of the server crashing. Couldn't reconnect either, just said "Eliminated" ...at the start of the round no less. :messenger_weary:

Who's this guy? Is he special? You can see plenty of people here that agree with him, lol.

I'm confused on how the health/shield system works. I keep hitting 4 to inject myself but my bars aren't going all the way up.
You can use the "smart heal" or whatever it's called which will just heal your shields or health automatically depending upon which is depleted more. At least that's how I understand it.

When I came to that screen I almost hit alt-F4. I just got TIRED.
I mean by all means be critical of the game but some are acting as if they've never seen a skill tree before?

I think I'm done for now.

It's confirmed what I suspected - Bungie shouldn't be targeting an extraction shooter.

Their secret sauce is gunplay. In particular, and especially with Destiny 2, they designed visceral audio feedback that was augmented by AOE explosions. Every build - solar, arc, stasis, void etc had multiple ways of blowing shit up and it was a huge amount of fun.

An extraction shooter gimps this style of play. Yes, the guns still feel good, but they have removed a type of enjoyment that they were one of the very best at delivering.

I appreciate the answer is 'duh, it's an extraction shooter'.

But a response to that is 'duh, you're Bungie. Do what you're good at'.

How many players is it per match btw? And does everyone spawn at the same time? Aside from the Rook class of course,

143k peak a few hours ago down to 117k currently. Seems low but I get people need to get home from work, still low tho even if it bumps back to 143k. I'll be curious how high it spikes

I'm really enjoying this and it's everything I expected.
It won't dethrone Arc and I wish there was as more physics interaction with objects but it's a fantastic game and I'm really looking forward to it releasing.

I'm envious! I wish I enjoyed Arc Raiders because the more cakes to enjoy the better!

Yea I watched Lono for a bit, the action just wasn't there but we will see. I just don't think bungie will hit lightning in a bottle 3 times in a row but that's imo. I was sorta excited to try it but watching it turned me off, those menus are so bad I don't even want to experience them for myself lol

no it's not lol... their gunplay has been among the worst on the market.

they are good at making guns sound good and look good in action, but the underlying mechanics of their gunplay was absolutely awful.

I haven't played Marathon long enough to judge how they changed it here, so I can't say if it's still as bad as Destiny 2's. but Destiny 2 has such awful gunplay that I hope it's not even tangentially related tbh.

Disagree, bungies gunplay is easily one of the best man... Thats easily how I spent about 8000 hours in destiny 1 and 2, I mean it's fine to have your opinion but I guarantee absolutely guarantee you're in the minority with that, the deep minority.

I think (or... hope in fact) that you guys are mixing up gunplay with gun feedback.

their audiovisual feedback is great, their gunplay is bottom tier dogshit, designed with people in mind that can't aim.

insane aim assist. crazy bullet magnetism that automatically favours headshots. massive hitboxes. basically no recoil control needed. 2004 era analog aim feel.

that's destiny 2 in a nutshell

The word "gunplay" is meaningless, lol, it's cope for people too addicted to Destiny to stop playing the game even though they realize it's total shit and taking advantage of them

Shooting guns in destiny 1 and 2 felt amazing , not sure what else to tell you but I quit D2 in May of 23 as good gunplay couldn't carry a game on autopilot anymore for me.

Thats all fair. My main complaint from the test was the game tells you fuck all and tosses you in at the deap end. Nothing has changed, if anything its worse.

However other games do the same and seem impenetrable yet they are the most popular in the market. Tarkov, POE, Deadlock, souls games etc.

I applaud it not treating its audience like idiots but its asking alot. Most people will nope out after a few games

Ye this game should be free to play, totally not worth 40 euros.

The UI is amazing. How anyone can design something so bad is beyond me. Visual diarhea everywhere. The game itself doesn't look much better either.

Weve had this discussion loads but what game do you currently play that are crossplay that do it right in your opinion?

The issue is MP games need good onboarding. Souls game being obtuse in a SP environment doesn't get backlash because it's existed now for so long people just tell you to git gud and ridicule you.

MP has to be designed for Roblox level TikTok's brains.

I even said in discord feedback and on here the biggest issue would be the onboarding is awful and will piss people off, and the UI needs a overhaul.

I can subject myself to hours to learn it but the average gamer isn't me.

Also deadlock now has a great tutorial and tools, plus built in build browser in game. Deadlock is how you do everything right for a new MP game.

Its not though. COD and Destiny guns feel great to shoot.

A Kar98 headshot in OG warzone made me do a small wee in my underwear, same with the magnum in Halo.

It dethrones Arc for me personally but unfortunately I don't think it will for most Arc players.
This is far better than Arc Raiders.
I can't say I'm surprised, I mean the hate boner for this game is pretty bad and that's certainly not going to do it any favors, lol. I just like this universe more than Arc Raiders personally. I'm looking forward to Hunger as well, so hopefully that lands well.

certainly not in mood atmosphere

I love scifi but this also looks like garbage when I played it art wise, it's all over the place

and yeah like I was the UI is trash

Arc Raiders just looks like fucking battlefield with robots.

At least this has something unique going for it, love it or hate it.

Absolutely! I thoughts that's why we are all on this forum, to share our opinions and whatnot
Lmao, of course! I suppose it read a bit more stern to me than a personal opinion I guess, haha.

Yeah, that's where I'm at. I get this isn't for everyone, but it's a bold AF direction for a big budget game IMO, lol. I applaud it at least looking unique enough. I mean, you can see a picture of it and know exactly what it is without getting it confused with something else. I wouldn't be surprised if that was one of the drives for its look.

I wouldn't trust him one bit. I tuned in earlier today and he said he was really liking it.

So either he was "ad shilling" and lying to people, or this clip is before he played enough to start enjoying it.

The dude just chases bandwagons. His recent resurgence is because peanut played with him.

I'm not even trying to be biased towards the game but listening to COD streamers opinions on anything is like listening to retarded people talk engineering, the French talking about winning modern wars, or Chris Chan talk about relationships.

lol wut

I don't even like Arc Raiders (I found the gun play terrible and I don't think third person lends well to this type of game) but that makes no sense.

Bungie have designed some of the most enjoyable guns in videogames.

Dead Man's Tale, Ikelos SMG, Calus Mini, Le Monarque for bows, all their hand cannons etc etc etc. Hundreds of amazingly enjoyable guns.

And traits on those guns that create incredible satisfying AOE explosions.

An extraction shooter does not allow them to explore this avenue of gameplay, which I think is a pity.
