Resident Evil Requiem |OT| Through the Darkness

JESUS!

Now I know why the reviews said that path tracing is so demanding.

This will be my first RE game on PC and my first path traced title. Cant fucking wait. PT makes games look photorealistic

Which team is making this? It's odd, I'm a huge RE fan but I have zero hype for this.

They've certainly brought this franchise back to life over the past years but I have found myself very apathetic towards this entry. No idea what the setting even is.
Same. It looks a bit like every other AAA game out there. Very safe and with little identity. Also the most apathetic I've ever been towards a game in this franchise. Watched some reviews and the game looks even more rough and bland than than in any of the promo footage. Sad day for me.

Hamilton is a great watch company to collaborate with. Their products are not obscenely expensive and high quality. The chrono is beautiful.
Bro? They're the absolute bottom of the barrel for collabs. Not to mention a very average high-end brand at best.

Most of their partnerships with other brands are universally known to contribute absolutely nothing to the actual design of the watch. You're getting an old and unpopular model in a RE-themed box. That's it.

Ribbon in the Typewriter as well for me, coming from a player who enjoyed the OG RE2 and RE3 on Ps1. It adds tention and challenge to the game.
Played the first one on the GameCube, and the relief when you got into an inventory/typewriter room and heard the music was sublime.

After listening to both kindafunny games and giantbombs review podcast, i might go with the default fps with grace and tps with leon and do tps for both on second run

I can not believe I'm away this weekend and can't play.

Might take my laptop, but that might upset the Mrs, hehe
Back when Stadia was around and Village was coming out. I thought about pulling a Neverending Story at my office in one of the data closets no one went to. She might be even more upset if you ran away.

new nvidia drivers for RE9 are out: https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/drivers/details/264983/

edit: There's an issue with this new driver where 3rd party fan controls won't work, eg EVGA Precision X1, Afterburner, etc... I recommend skipping this one. I rolled back and everything is back to normal again. If you just use your card straight out of the box with no tweaks though then it's fine.

edit 2: Nvidia has pulled the driver from their site. Avoid it y'all.

Path tracing just looks a hell of a lot better, would I be able to play that version on a 7800x3d with a 4080 and 32gb ddr5 ram?

Classic difficulty with ribbon saves for me.

It adds tension imo and makes the game feel more grounded, oldschool like it did back in the day.

I know I am minority here but I think a lot was lost when the standard became autosaving and checkpoints. It makes sense for some games and genres but for linear survival horror it totally kills the fear and anxiety of combat for me.

Anyway, my usual pick of reviewers whom have opinions I trust have all given the game standing ovations, my hype went through the roof when Jon said it's the best modern Reaident Evil game period.
Minority maybe but completely agreed on all points.

Also the reviews praising how focused on how fun to play this game is...yes, yes please.

I cant believe the difference with path tracing, its like a generational difference. I hope this is up on gfn right away, it will be just the steamdeck for me until thats uploaded to gfn. i am happy that it is somewhat playable on steamdeck.

I feel like I'm in the extreme minority who doesn't understand any of these technical terms and the nitpicking about them, I just look at the game and think "wow that looks really fucking good"…but then I remember most people are like me and I'm on neogaf.

Path tracing looks phenomenal, but I don't see it being a thing even in the next generation of consoles.

Seems way to costly.
As a Switch 2 owner I can only dream of ray tracing, never mind path tracing lol.. But the game looks pretty sweet on the Switch 2, so you guy have nothing to worry about.

What frustrates me the most is that this is a full-priced 80 Eurodollars game, yet it feels like we are getting only half the experience at launch compared to what it should offer on day one or what it will likely include a few months down the line.
As it stands, It's pretty light on content since once you finish it, there is not much to do beyond NG+ and a randomizer mode. Mercenaries is missing yet again and given the heavy emphasis on action in Leon's sections, it is almost certainly being held back
for a later release...

Do not get me wrong, I love Resident Evil. But at this price, considering the game's length and overall content, Capcom really is pushing it.

Goddamn FOMO man, the Gold edition not even 1 year from now It's going to be the better experience but fuck me if I have any semblance of restraint and/or patience.

Dawg, you bought NG4 and B2 on release and still haven't learned anything.

I won't be able to play it but at least I got to play IO Interactive's homage to Resident Evil with Patient Zero: Requiem.
Really cool.
It even has green and blue herbs.

So, what it the consensus for game length? Luke Stephens said in his review that it lasted 8h, but others were saying about 15-20h.

15-ish hours is the most commonly thrown verdict I've seen so far. Apparently there are more open-ended areas further on with lots of optional exploration that can take some extra hours if you're not rushing.

Allot of gamers will be stuck at home throughout weekend because of RE9. Might anger allot of girlfriends due to no dates this weekend. 😁

I would say 10h as standard. It can be faster or slower depending but don't expect a lengthy game. It has some replayability, namely an harder difficulty mode.
Taking account previous games is highly likely it'll receive some kind of DLC.
