Marathon Server Slam (Feb 26 - Mar 2) 𝙄𝙩'𝙨 π™Žπ™€ π™Šπ™«π™šπ™§ / π™’π™š'π™§π™š π™Žπ™€ π˜½π™–π™˜π™

Weird one with Arc though. Games like this normally have lull's in between content then defined seasons with meta shifts and content dumps. Then players come flooding back for a while.

Arc trickles content out and small changes here and there. I applaud them for trying a different way, but I don't think its the right way to go.

If Marathon is a hit, then the traditional model of 12-14 week seasons with resets that they are aiming for will work much better for this type of game.

Like you say if its decent, who gives a shit.
Arc hasn't had any major updates. It has only been a few months. The game is a lot more casual than Tarkov or Marathon. I expect Embark to follow Helldivers 2 strategy of major updates 2-3 times a year. Player wipes are much less part of the gameplay loop in ARC, as players can choose to wipe or not

I'm fully aware, I've played over 500 hours. They aren't doing major updates, not seasonal ones anyways. See the road maps, unless they change things up.

Have fun gents, i cant join today, but i will read impressions and watch streams at work. I have to find time tomorrow, because im really hyped for RE9 aswell

Can't wait to see the CCU on this GAAS DOA woke trash. If it isn't DOA then hopefully it dies a quick death then Sony can get back to making single player games.

Just kidding, Marathon day ladies. Lets fucking go!

nah at some point the people who want to play the game as designed with PVP leave.

If anything it gave Marathon an opening.
I don't know how often of a thing it is, but something similar happened with Dark & Darker too. Where the majority started working together and teaming up more than PVPing, so then the PVPers got upset and vocal about it until many started leaving.

How is the SLAM going?

LET THE BOYS BE BOYS!

We still have a few hours, lol.

Wonder if that's not why they quietly stepped back from DMZ mode in Warzone too…

These guys are smart, though, they'll figure something out. Power up the lone player if the game detects a blob approaching.

Have a proximity damage over time effect kick in if too many players group up.

There's probably lots of ways to get around ganking.

Definitely possible!

Yeah, I'm sure they're prepared for all scenarios at this point, at least I'd hope so.

I feel like Hunt never dealt with people trying to be friendly and/or team up and it's been great for them. I feel like it'll work just fine here too with the strong PVP focus.

Eh I didn't care I still killed people. My issue with Arc is it just wasn't fun to PVP. The engagements were boring.
It could be fun if there was any reason to it. Loot a guy for his grey free load out and 3 flesh lights. Neat.

Nah I found people with good stuff on them I just legitimately didn't enjoy the way the gunplay was in that game. The guns are boring to use and third person just isn't as good as FP for PVP. Even my friends who barely played it felt the same and said that's why they never really wanted to play with me and my cousin who loved that game.

Yeah, but I specifically mean for the server test. I'm gonna be downloading it on both PS5 Pro and Steam and I'd like to just be able to jump in at 1.
They said it's on purpose so not everyone is trying to log in at once.

I believe this is the first time Bungo has done dedicated servers at scale so there will be issues regardless.

I always find it cringe when people complain about that in arc. Like sure but also its just the community of the game. People are always aware of these things. I really do enjoy arc and play it both ways and it is super cool when people go full pve.

Also looking forward to playing marathon because I am a pvp fiend at heart.

how did arc raiders become such a hugbox?

It's not if you play aggressively. If you play peaceful then you get matched with other peaceful players. Its a system which works fairly well in my opinion. I wonder if Marathon will have similar matchmaking, but I'm doubting it.

It is just up to them as a player. Joining such a game expecting to find quake is weird though.

I think they already stated they won't

I know nothing about technology but I read a comment suggesting pre loads are more difficult for servers to handle because everyone jumps on at once.
I would say the test was more efficient if they did let people preload.

that would ensure everyone trying to hammer at the same time. As it is now it will be spread out based on download speed etc. It's not as if the test is for Steams capacity to transfer files. :D
