Roblox employee's 'day in the life' video goes viral

I don't see the point in caring about this kind of thing. If a person works in an office with some nice benefits then good for them.

Sure. Most stuff people post on social media is exaggerated. When someone goes on holiday they might post pictures of the gorgeous views or clips of them scuba diving and less of the day they sat about their hotel room doing fuck all because it was pissing it down outside. Some social media accounts seem to post this stuff as ragebait. But like I said I just don't see the point in caring about it.

I had a similar lunch cafeteria place work in the past. Best place to work in my life. Those delicious food, during lunch break was great. Wish there are more food cafeteria like that.

I'm subscribed to a guy who used to work at Roblox, so at least at some point they weren't all like that. He makes great videos about how to code with Vulkan.

It's pretty clear that men are doing most of the real work. Women jobs are more like "daycare" that many people mentioned already.

Of course I'm talking about this industry (plus office work in general), there are many fields where women are working really hard (like retail, hospitals etc.).

Most tech workers work in some form of agile development where they have multiple tasks due in a 1 or 2 week period. This video is utter nonsense relative to the average persons job and is ignoring all the coding they have to do.

That's not what I meant lol. Back end in general, but especially stuff like tools development and rendering is like 99% men, it's true, but there are some Asian women working in back-end as well (speaking from experience, here). I'm not really sure why most women don't want to work in back end.

I guess what I meant is I have a hard time respecting front end people lol, which I assume is what this woman is. They're a completely different type of person, usually obsessed with trends over functionality. If I had my way we'd all still be using Geocities and uh, forums like Neogaf :]

Though I get a stocked cafeteria at work, for free, and it's pretty dope. I'm saving $6-8/day in lunch and it adds up to real money after a year.

but any tech bros here have a similar setup or just your corporatebros that have this kind of similar benefits? but most people are just 'oh that's nice' and are more quiet about it

not a tech bro, just a gate security guy at a nuclear weapons facility here in the UK.

We have a lot of 'empty roles' in the sense that if no one was doing any work, no one would notice and nothing would happen. People on the team are paid a lot of money and work maybe 2-3 hours per shift max, with the other time spent just sitting in circular meetings and staff room bants.

You can imagine each day once safety checks are done there is not much else to do. We got managers managing managers, trainee staff being trained on stuff that isnt relevant anymore due to technological advances but still must be trained 'because'. The amount of wasted money is crazy lol

I cant complain since my job is relatively easy, no one is dumb enough to come within 1 mile of this place lol

It's funny because this video is exactly like that Twitter video from several years ago, and look what happened after Elon Musk bought it.



It does seem like a lot of these tech companies have way too many employees and that most of the work is done by a few and they could layoff a bunch of them without issue.
