Crimson Desert be looking good AF - huge open world single player RPG PS5/PC/Xbox

Console folks shouldn't worry. Black Desert ran at 60fps on base PS5 easy, and that was 6 years ago. On top of that, Pearl Abyss even pointed out they had the game done and polished over a year ago, they have just been waiting for PS certification process which took forever. This game will have quite the spit shine with their engine run on base PS5, let alone PC.
And image quality was good too?

I would not take black desert online as an example, the engine is different and the game seems way more heavy between the added destruction, the city simulation and all the physics in play.

Mmorpg in theory are made to runs on most hardwares as possible.

I mean, what even is this game? It looks like BD, it seems to play like BD, but some people out there are losing their shit as if it's something entirely new.
If only there were multiple videos they've put out explaining what the game is. People are hyped because it looks fun, sorry we're not all obsessed with hating on an MMO plenty of people are still playing, that by the way, isn't this game.

Honestly everyone is asking for a story... I only want a sandbox to do whatever I want, and this finally looks like the game for me. I'll do my own story.

Unrelated to the thread, but sometimes when skimming, I will sometimes quickly see words put together that intrigues me.

While quickly skimming past your post, this is what my brain and eyes changed your post into:

Now I must google to see if this exists.
That's basically dungeon crawlers.

We are basically the opposite. A sandbox open world only works well when its botw levels of mechanics with lots of hidden secrets and exploration being rewarded. I can't imagine keeping myself entertained in this world without a compelling narrative as unless I'm missing something it will be nothing like botw.

Same. Be it The Elder Scrolls, Dragon's Dogma or Elden Ring, my favorite thing was always to fuck off to somewhere on my own and discover stuff without being hand-holded by a story. If this game is kinda like a sandbox (and it might just be since it's NOT an RPG after all) then I'm sure I'll have a good time.

My brain is already calculating the possibilities of Multiplayer being added.

Chrome Browser Translation:
" Depending on market demand, we are also planning additional expansions, such as DLC and multiplayer, for "Crimson Desert."

If the game really does turn out to be the best thing since sliced bread and multiplayer is technically feasible, there's a decent chance the underlying framework already exists within the engine. So even If Pearl Abyss chooses not to pursue it themselves because the demand isn't there, modders who really enjoy the game might take a crack at it anyway.

For sure! I have plenty of story games in my backlog. I'm most looking forward to exploring a new game that I know little to nothing about and chatting with you guys on here about it.

There's nothing like the hype of a new game! Whether it ends up being amazing or a complete jankfest, it'll be fun lol

People still think that a studio making their first big game is necessarily a bad thing.

And then you have AAA experienced studios splurging out shite like panderman 2, anal wake 2, halo infinite and many many others.

The Sky Abyss is supposed to be in a different dimension. It's not something you can see from the ground when you look up. So it's an understandable way to hide the "loading" as the player goes in and out of it.

The alternate dimension concept actually makes the Abyss loading screen make sense, I wonder if the loading animation is different traveling by hot air balloon.

Yeah story just need to be serviceable if they nail everything else.

If they also have a great story\charas we enter the game of the generation type of talks.

Stellar Blade and Kena are two of my more recent favorite games. One was their first console game, and the other was a dev's first game.

I just want a demo to get a feel for the combat. I hear it's more like a fighting game with combos . . . I want to make sure I'll like that.

But it's not the first, it's the second big game, but singleplayer.

If god exist, this game is gonna have much better rewards for exploration than the last 2 zeldas where a breakable weapon or an armour with the same exact effect you get from food was the peak of rewards...

I mean you can already tell this from all the videos really, in here you get a fucking dragon and a mech as rewards ffs :lollipop_squinting:

Everything is possible on PC

> developer: Pearl Abyss

Isn't this thing just a single player clone of Black Desert MMORPG, notorious for being mind-numbingly grindy?

Nah. BDO runs on EXP. You grind, the bar goes up. Crimson Desert ain't built like that. From what they've shown, progression is tied to gear, artifacts, and abilities you earn by actually engaging with the world, not parking in one spot deleting mobs for XP ticks. The combat looks skill-based, not level-gated. Yeah, better gear and abilities can let you outclass enemies, but that's not the same as "come back when you're level 62 bro."

It's a completely different setup. Now does that automatically mean Crimson Desert is gonna be fire? Fuck naw. It could still flop. But if it does, it won't be because it's a BDO clone. :messenger_winking:

Wasn't too interested in this really but didn't realize there were like 3 or 4 different characters to play as, and the mobility looks crazy good too, from the way the character gets around on foot, to the mounts etc.

Main character is only one, the other 2 can be used for open world exploration, combat and probably some story light sidequests, but you do the big story moments with just kliff.

Anyway, when did gamers start outsourcing their taste?

I've always pre-ordered, mostly on Steam. If a game's ass, I can tell within an hour or two, well before the refund window closes. I don't need a panel of thumbnail-face content creators to tell me how I'm supposed to feel about something. I trust my own hands on the controller way more than I trust somebody farming engagement. Really not much difference between buying on day one to me. Unless I'm missing something.

Why'd you quit at Halo? Gaylo infant-shite was right there

Keeping my expectations in check but I am looking forward to getting this next month. Seems like it will be a fun time just to roam around and interact with the environments. Was going to grab the founders pack for Soul Frame this weekend but held off to give this a try first.

Help me understand the logic. What possible benefit is there to doing this instead of waiting for feedback/reviews?
On pc? Lower price.

Keys get incresingly more costoy the more you get close to launch.

Also, experienced players probably already have an idea of how the game is just by watching the footage without the need to wait for unskilled woke activists to tell us how good the writing and combat systems are...

Well even ignoring the fact that it's my money and I'll do what I want with it, it's called Steam bud, it takes literally no effort to refund a game as long as you haven't played it for 2 hours.
