Has anyone spoken much on the parry? One video I watched the guy said it was similar to Sekiro. I'd love that.

Edit: Just watched the video of the control scheme and I only see block. Maybe a perfect block is possible?

At this point I'm just waiting for an official confirmation that the game is being directed by Peter Molyneux.

Because holy shit, this game has everything. :goog_relieved:

My man are you getting this game day 1 or fucking what :lollipop_content:
Hell to the fucking no. This looks exactly what you're stating - over promised and overly ambitious, that disappointment is inevitable.

The studio doesn't have the pedigree to achieve this scope and avoid usual open world pit falls like boring side chore quests galore. I also think the game will run like hot shit on all platforms even a chad 5090.

Id love to be wrong but if something looks too good to be true it probably is.

The only two studios I think could get a game as ambitious as this to stick the landing is CP Red and Rockstar maybe.

I don't know man. I used to think that but it's not like this is their first open-world game, and the latest footage shows all kinds of features all while running nicely. It's the amount of pre-release content what has me optimistic, they seem to be confident about the game.

So yeah haha, hope you are wrong! :goog_relieved:

CDPR sucks. I don't get why people love them so much, thought CP2077 was super mid and considering the state it was released I have 0 faith in their future projects. Rockstar could nail a game like this yeah, but they are all about GTA nowadays...

I'm moderately concerned that this game is going to be a stutterfest on PC.

Should I switch my preorder to PS5 Pro?
Isn't most of the footage they've shown running on PC? I wouldn't be too worried about stutters, this isn't an UE5 game.

Oh right on! I haven't seen a ton of footage to get a good gauge. Open world games can be hit or miss, but that's a relief it's not UE5 🙂

I'll keep the PC preorder. I'd rather play on there. Thanks for the heads up!

I really hope you're wrong on this (no offense of course) just because it would be really amazing for someone to finally pull something off like this.

It's looking like the real deal but of course if they fail it will be for obvious reasons. One thing that comes to mind is the initial plans for it to have been an MMO. And the game showcasing mechanics to prove it as such would therefore fail to deliver on being successful because they haven't nailed x y and/or z.

If there's no console footage, all the alarm bells should be ringing.

That's why I didn't pre-order the game and am waiting to see what happens.

Generally speaking, you should never pre-order on consoles because refunds aren't as easy as on PC.

People are at the preview event for the game this weekend. I'm sure we'll get more footage which was said by a few youtubers during the first week of March.

Pearl Abyss will get their named dragged in mud if they fail to deliver an optimized experience.

Seems like there is a loading screen between the sky abyss and ground.

Not a deal breaker for me.

I hope this game meets people expectations, but every time I see gameplay footage of this game it looks so unappealing to me…..I just don't get hype for this.

Felt the same way when I saw games like KCD2 and Baldur's Gate. I didn't get the hype for those either.

It'll get around an 80 Meta but be considered better than that by players.

Oh yeah those are absolutely not my type of games, they have zero appeal to me.

I dont care for review scores and I'm sure this game will get 80+ or even 90+ meta score but I played games long enough to know this game is not for me.

For me it's the promise of cool combat with a little bit of challenge combined with freedom of exploration and a lot of player agency when engaging with the myriad of features the game seems to have.

It seems like it could be a pretty cool adventure. Kinda like BOTW but more adult, and kinda like Dragon's Dogma but with more features.

I hope it delivers on that promise but for me the aesthetics they going for is very unappealing and people keep saying they are going for Witcher 3 vibe which is not very postive for me since I dont like those games.

Join us.

No thanks. :lollipop_content:

Why not? Seems like the usual medieval-fantasy fare. Dudes with sword and armor, monsters, castles, forests, and all that jazz. The only thing that stands out to me is the steampunk-ish stuff like the mechanical dragon or the robots, but it could be cool.

But I can understand if you don't like it. I know you like the visual design in Elden Ring and this one is nothing like that. ER had way more fantasy put into it while this one is more grounded.

And I don't really see the Witcher vibe here. That game was very grim and depressing, while this one seems more like the typical fantasy to me. I'd say it's closer to the style of Zelda (to some extent) and Dragon's Dogma than The Witcher by far.

Thats exactly it, I like high fantasy and its one of my big reason why I gravitate towards Japanese games over western ones.

The only time I want more grounded look is in survival horror games but in my RPG I want high fantasy.

I understand what you mean. But I don't think it's a western vs eastern thing at all, since for example Dragon's Dogma looks more grounded and it's a japanese game, while something like Avowed looks more "weird" and fantastical but it's made by a western studio.

But I understand your preference. In my case I just love most fantasy-medieval stuff. Give me a game where I can control a dude with a sword and a shield and I'm happy lol.

I see someone's hyped for RE9 hehe :lollipop_content:

Nah Rockstar couldn't nail it either. They're all about immersion. But gameplay ? Their gameplay is shit.
Nobody is waiting GTA 6 for the gameplay lol. We just hope it'll be ok.

FUUUUUUUUCK YEAH! For me Capcom is killing it this year....I think most my most hype game this year are mostly from Capcom.
Yeah I hope all the games they are about to release end up being super cool.

For me I kinda hate them right now lol. Deagon's Dogma 2 was one of my most hyped games ever and it really disappointed me.

But yeah even if I'm not into RE9 (at least for now) I hope it's cool so you have a ton of fun with it mate.

Damn yeah, good point. I don't see Rockstar being able to pull a good melee combat that feels responsive and fun, no way.

There is console footage (PS5), and also a trailer...

There's not. You can see exactly the same things before and after going through the abyss.
It's just for lore explanation of why you can't see sky islands from the ground.

But of course, freeing the memory from erasing sky islands from the view allows them to load other things next.
And as it's open world, it's constantly loading assets depending on where you move.

It works the same in Zelda TotK.

This game flew under my radar until a couple days ago. The footage I've seen it looks cool. I will wait to see what's users say before buying so probably day 2 for me.

I can see the Abyss become visible from the surface (as in the veil that protects it vanishes) later in the game and remove this transition completely. I also wonder what it's going to look like when you fly up with a hot air balloon.

Anyway this transition is so seamless that, even if that is a loading screen, it's done very well. Similar to what Ratchet and Clank is doing with the portals.

Unrelated to the thread, but sometimes when skimming, I will sometimes quickly see words put together that intrigues me.

While quickly skimming past your post, this is what my brain and eyes changed your post into:

Survival horror RPG in high fantasy.

Now I must google to see if this exists.

Console folks shouldn't worry. Black Desert ran at 60fps on base PS5 easy, and that was 6 years ago. On top of that, Pearl Abyss even pointed out they had the game done and polished over a year ago, they have just been waiting for PS certification process which took forever. This game will have quite the spit shine with their engine run on base PS5, let alone PC.

Was between this and resident evil as my purchase for the next few months and am rolling the dice on this. I'll get resident evil on the eventual Halloween sale.

This game is guaranteed to disappoint. The studio has no pedigree on how to make a narrative driven open world RPG so you can rule out anything remotely resembling a Witcher type game. It'll be a 150+ hour game with a ton of mind-numbing boring and repetitive activities to do like their MMO. The best you can hope for is there's enough variety in the combat for it to be fun, b/c the story will absolutely suck ass.

This is a PS5 PRO footage,

So is this one (The boss footages are from PC)

To bad is not RPG…
Is pretty hard these day to have an informed opinion

The Sky Abyss is supposed to be in a different dimension. It's not something you can see from the ground when you look up. So it's an understandable way to hide the "loading" as the player goes in and out of it.

Yeah, you're not exactly wrong about that Lmaooo!!! Their gameplay mechanics usually leave a lot to be desired. Especially when other open world games have done certain aspects better than them.
