Major upset brewing with Canada and CZE. 3-2 4 minutes left.

Never mind 3-3

Canada has the win in OT 4-3 What a turn.

Something fishy. Betting sites had Czechs somewhere around +250 to beat Canada. But when it was late 2-2 in the third before Czechs scored, their odds INCREASED to over +300. I got in at +310 and lost.

Doesnt make sense since as a game drags on tied, the underdog odds should get crappier, not get juicier.

I think the longer an underdog hangs around the greater the odds are they can pull off the upset.

Don't gamble you degenerate.

Cant help it. I'm up $325 this season starting NHL/NBA time! Fanduel constantly gives out free $5 bets and No Sweat Tokens.

The longer underdogs hang around late or into OT tied, their odds get worse. The fav will still hold the edge but it can get close to 1:1 odds. In no way should the odds get juicier for the underdog because all it takes is one lucky goal or basket to hang on and win late.

Don't try to think reasonably.

Canada used to be an intimidating unstoppable force.
Other teams aren't scared of us anymore.
Too much parity. Women's hockey is a joke as it's totally Can/USA, but the men's have had 6 viable teams for a while. Ya some win more than others, but still a good fight. And that includes Russia whose been banned from many tourneys for years.

It's like many other sports now- other nations have caught up. I prefer it this way- I hate when other countries get steamrolled .
Canada has not been totally dominant in men's hockey for a few decades now. If anything the Slavic Euros are getting worse but the Americans and Nords are getting better. Remember that the Czechs won gold in Nagano and Canada's star studded team didn't even medal.

That was a wild time.

Bobby Clarke injected his personal power forward preference into the Olympics. He built the team hoping to grind out wins with checking. Most of their roster were power forwards. And they invited Rob Zamuner (a PK specialist), when these kinds of tournaments are all about skill and speed. They did have some bad luck like Lemieux retiring at the time and Kariya injured. But still way too many Trevor Linden kind of players.

Just looking at the roster, it's got to be the slowest Team Canada ever in any world tournament.

All it takes is a decent team to play Devils / Wild type Trap hockey to perfection and you can upset anyone. Wake up call for Canada or exposed? Will see. The Finns won't be easy.

1 game anything can happen, it's dam scary.

I enjoyed the ice hockey today. I played it for a while when I was a kid (my school team here in the UK), and constantly on Mega Drive, of course.

Still don't understand the fucking rules though lol

US women Advance in the no stone touching tourney.

Swiss Miss in OVERTIME Bronze

Chine with 1500M Gold Us Silver

A last minute tip-in GTG followed by a backhand goal solo effort OT winner. A carbon copy of what kept the men alive lost the women the gold. They had no composure at all after the Knight goal so not surprised they lost after that and even before that they just tried to sit on the lead which never goes well. As a Canadian I obviously wanted Canada to win but honestly most of the women's players I like are American so I'm not as bothered as if the men get anything less than gold.

Close women's hockey game. Canada had it as they played well first 2 periods, but got dominated in the third. Was just a matter of time the US scored and they did. And then won in OT which is anyone's game.

For those of you who have never watched women's hockey, it's rough. It's like watching high schoolers play. But because of that, all the bad passes and sloppy play lead to unpredictable scoring chances. One player spun around and shot it on her own net. lol. It's predictable in a way because there's almost no slapshots, long bombs or one timers. So you can tell if it's a scoring threat play or not. But in terms of puckhandling, losing the puck or weak passes getting intercepted that's where it gets unpredictable.

Much like womens soccer or basketball.

Nah, this is literally every Olympics -- Canada always has some weirdly close game against one of the lesser teams. 2014, 2-1 win over Latvia in the quarterfinals. 2010, 3-2 win over Slovakia in the semifinals. 2006 they didn't even win a medal with NHL players and lost 2-0 to Switzerland.
