Microsoft has been nonexistent in the console market for the last year and Sony still saw the need on taking losses the last quarter in order to discount the PS5 for BF deals, which itself generally targets price-conscious consumers.

But they raised prices before that. The console 5 years on the market didn't have a single official price cut below the price it was released at.

That does not mean that $600 in 2006 would have the same impact as $600 today. People were buying PS5 consoles at $500 just 14 years later, or do those $100 make all the difference?
