Marathon Releases March 5 '26 - $39.99

I think you're overestimating the Bungie hardcore who will swerve off games like this and back to their hugboxes quite quickly.

A lot of these extraction based games have now pretty much shifted to PvPvE anyway - and tbh even pure PvP are moving to bot backfill if not already there. I don't think these games are the same as BR or mutltiplayer modes tbh. Otherwise we wouldn't have such firm rejection (on consoles) as we have seen - arc excluded.

If you head into some of the more notable long standing games you will see many people grinding and just avoiding the PvP. I see a lot of day one PvP'ers left, are those who run in multi squads hoping to find lone stragglers or under levelled 'newbies' at which point you may as well be fighting bots (PC excepted here).

I do think the genre needs to evolve and whether its something visible or something more subtle (like ABMM) it is happening. It's pure speculation but from my pov the DZ in Div2 is already there anyway and if ABMM is employed in Marathon I think it will be the biggest of the two 'player pools' within a year and that's where the changes and balancing will be targeted imo.
This is nothing like Arc, you won't get ABMM or a PVE mode.

Hungover, no chance of a smile, but I'll be on the slam from the 27th if you fancy a guided tour of Perimeter. Hungover again probably as its my birthday on the 26th:messenger_sunglasses:

I dont think there is any "endgame" besides the 4th map thats coming soon after launch. Why yould they hold something significant like that back.
I'm definitely open to the idea that Bungie will tease a big mystery after the public playtest.

Give everyone access to the first 20% of the game for 5 days and then tell everyone there's a big mystery at the end game. I think that sells copies.

One thing i dont like in the new videos is the pulsing red aura on enemy players. It wasnt a thing before and it looks kinda stupid tbh
Is that on 100% of the time? I think thats a great call tbh. Visibility/clarity of human enemies is paramount. No more rats! No more rats!

I think we need to see.more, like does it stay highlighted even through things like smoke/fog etc. I'll go watch the SoP again. You sure they haven't just been pulsed by a mod?
Seems like it's a new feature added in. It's a quick red highlight for maybe a second when enemies come in to view. Not sure how I feel about it, I think it should be a mod and not default but we'll have to see how obnoxious it is in the server slam.

I don't like how almost every new release is now being met with immediate hate, doesn't know if it looks good or decent. If it doesn't fall within the niche that mainstream like, it gets hate and tags like "DOA", "go broke", etc

If you want to fix the internet / media you have to punish people for having wrong takes. The incentive isn't accuracy anymore.

The DOA stuff will continue because that's what their audience wants to hear.

Damn it, could have told me sooner. Preorder canceled.

Thanks for the information.

I'll probably try the server slam. I don't think this game is for me though. I just enjoy riffing off it. It's all harmless fun - I hope you guys all get a game you enjoy.

My main concern is if they have a good enough seasonal loop to keep me interested. I think they are missing another mid sized map to fit in-between Dire Marsh and Outpost but we'll see.

If you like PVP then you'll probably like it although if the full release anything the tests then it doesn't reveal itself for a few hours. Takes a little bit of time to stick.

Yeah, I don't understand it either. Especially when it's something that stands out to some degree. Which you'd think would be something everyone wants, right? People complain enough about everything being or looking the same.

It's always just people that weren't interested in the first place, which is something I don't understand either. If I don't care about something, I ignore it, it's dead to me, etc. But apparently others would prefer to continue to take it all in while dragging it and the people that ARE interested, lol. It makes zero sense to me.

I'm too shit for these games really. I did surprise myself playing Black Ops 6 though as I was actually half decent, same with Halo multiplayer.

This and arc raiders I was just turd at though, not patient enough. Apex I was shit at. Highguard was more shit than me.

Definitely a marmite game. I think the PVP crowd will lap this up. They nailed the gameplay loop and stucture. Also claim they have also solved the endgame problems these game suffer from.

One of the main desginers of Vault of Glass designed Cryo Archive so I'm eager to check it out.

I played one of the tests with half the content for 50 hours and the full release looks significantly better. If they do stick the landing it'll end up in my rotation of they don't it won't but ill get my monies worth either way.

Time will tell.

The streamers are getting ready to hype up this turd like they did for Highguard. Never trust what they say, they will ditch a game once they stop getting paid.

You think this looks good?

I do, yeah. Its look alone is unique and stands out compared to many other shooters in its genre or adjacent genres. ESPECIALLY in the AAA space. I'll also admit almost any piece of game footage never looks nearly as entertaining as playing it yourself.

It's even better when you can make up your own mind and you don't allow any content creator to think for you.

Go watch the appalling gameplay I posted, not this cherry picked trailer. Seriously shilling for this visual mess makes you and others look desperate.

It's clear as day Bungie are toast, and I was a huge fan but all the talent has gone unfortunately.
Ive played the game for 50 hours. I'm not shilling for anything nor am I desperate for your approval. I like the game and enjoy discussing it with like-minded folks in here.

If you think it looks like shit then thats fine, not every game is for everyone, just move on.

Edit: Plenty of folks who worked on Destiny and Halo are still at the studio btw.

I think this guy is just bored. Still waiting for him to list some games he thinks are attractive btw, but I get the sense he's not the type who puts the bag on the table :messenger_tears_of_joy:

Can confirm as I recently touched base with an old co-worker of mine that has been there for several years now, and is still. He told me that quite a bit of the staff is under pressure and a bit stressed, which is totally understandable, especially after all the previous Destiny 2 expansion ups and downs. But he also said that the teams feel really good about it, and that the response has been more positive than ever. Even more so from outside sources.

I don't even care if this is "my dad works at Bungie" fiction, I choose to believe it :messenger_tears_of_joy:
