Highguard Launch Showcase - January 26th (10am PT / 1pm ET / 6pm UK)

It's a sweaty game and it's fun and kind of opposite ends of the spectrum, no
Apex Legends is a sweaty game, but a lot of fun, or at least it was, I haven't played in years. He means it's competitive and skill based and winning actually feels satisfying because of that.

Shitty influencers, with even dumber followers who will love the game because they were told was great.

Or, and hear me out on this, they try a F2P game and find it fun themselves or not, and go from there?

In a day we either will call out all these cucks as paycheck dick riders to never be trusted again, or it validates their position that the hype is justified.

Yeah but its a BR, you expect it to be sweaty - Like Fifa or COD competitive etc.

This is like a new genre and no-one even knows what to expect. Sweaty is probably the worst description you could use to try and draw people to it imo - its the #1 cry from most players when discussing SBMM.

Especially given the nature of tbe trailer. I just wasn't expecting something like Valorant in terms of dipping in and out. Having said that, cross play is still my biggest concern. PC has the biggest egotistical babies ever in FPS games.

This is a competitive 3v3 FPS game from the makers of Apex Legends. The brief snippets of gameplay we saw showed high movement speed for players.

If you weren't expecting this to be sweaty and competitive I don't know what to tell you.

I genuinely feel bad for this game, I personally never play online shooters so this is not for me at all but holy shit the hate it gets for the TGA thing is crazy

Yeah, but also not surprising. People just love to hate these days, it's exhausting. I just want more good/great games, and it feels like the majority are just clamoring for failures to entertain them.

Why do some of you guys choose these GaaS games with your limited time on Earth? Single player games are so much more rewarding, and you can't do a lot of both, AND live a normal life. I've tried, it's impossible.

Anyone have suggestions for the OT thread title? Ideally either something positive and fun or that can be taken two different ways, depending on if the game ends up being good or not.
Dead by Daylight: Highguard

The game will either be dead by daylight when it flops hard on launch day.

Or the narrative around it will be.

Looking forward to giving this a go tomorrow. It's literally free from the Titanfall people so not sure why people are so up in arms about this.

The same people who whine about CoD being the same every year instantly write off something that tries to shake things up a bit? Sure I'll be the first to admit it does look similar to stuff that has come before but mechanically it might be incredibly interesting. Who knows. We'll find out soon enough though.

This is actually the only good thing I've heard in relation to this game. I won't believe it until I see it though.

Nothing about the trailer they have released looks to shake anything up. Its another Overwatch clone. Being more sweaty than Overwatch would be a good start, but its going to take a lot more than that.

This attitude used to be fueled by Console Wars, but now days even games made by independent developers get it, it is so weird

I really wish I could feel bad for all the people who put money, time, and work into this, but I just can't. You'd have to be really clueless or totally out of touch with the games market not to see that a project like this was already old, outdated, and dead on arrival.

Highguard OT | it's over Blizzard, Geoff has the highguard
This one got me. Also is this game actually out yet? Has anyone on earth played it? Will they?

I think that it'll at least turn out okay, find enough players to roll on for a while. Just the fact that it's free means that it won't crash quite as hard as Concord.

It's out today, might check it out.

If it was genuinely good game ending tga trailer would get praise, not hate :D
Look at arc raiders or previously marver rivals, same/similar genre, good games, didnt get hate, got tons of players instead :P

The OT is here -> https://www.neogaf.com/threads/high...me-is-this-the-apex-of-hero-shooters.1692635/
This is for the event discussion only to keep the OT free of reactions

The "official launch showcase" will reportedly include a "full gameplay deep dive", plus plans for the game's inaugural year and "much more", which is just as well, as we have heard extraordinarily little about the all-new PvP Shooter.

Highguard is a PvP raid shooter which will see players "ride, fight, and raid as Wardens". That is to say, "arcane gunslingers" who have been sent to fight for control of a mythical continent.

Okay but how do you know this game is bad? Especially for an online game it could be amazing for all you know

I dont play that genre of games, so i dunno 100%, they all look terrible to me, yes, even arc raiders who is very succesfull as we can see in steamcharts:
481k alltime peak 2months ago, and it still has 410k ccu peak durning last 24h- for some unknown reasons to me its able to not only attract but retain huge playerbase- i gotta assume game is actually good- very fun to play.

GAAS games are like women, their goal isnt to attract men/players, their actual goal is to retain them, otherwise its a big L.
Thats the metric we can judge highguard on- not how much playerbase it has first week, since its f2p, but how much of it can be retained month or two after launch, if it can retain even 50% of what arc raiders has after 2 months, i will have to admit game is good/big success, if not- its clearly a flop even if say it has 1m ccu first week but 2months after launch doesnt even break 5k 24h ccu :)
