Graphical Fidelity I Expect This Gen

Lol no i didn't noticed it :lollipop_grinning_sweat:

China is just on another level right now. Absolutely insane stuff. The visuals, the atmosphere, the NPC behavior, the level of detail all just in another league compared to what we've gotten so far this generation.

Maybe communism is the answer to lazy developers. I bet the anti-crunch rules dont apply in China lol

Hmm, the actual fidelity seems a decent step below Witcher 4 and quite like expedition, but not quite as charming, almost, but the sheer density of NPCs and items in the environment is damn impressive, especially with the impressive visuals. Either way, a far cry from the lazy efforts from most devs this gen, looking at yo,u Sony.

I'm surprised space marine 2 on PS5 Pro hasn't been mentioned more. It looks spectacular 90% of the time.

Only really downfall is poor character faces.

Thoughts on RE9?

I think the game looks good but Silent Hill 2 is just a clear step above. Maybe i just love the UE5 look, but this feels gamey whereas SH2 felt like a cross between photorealism and CG.

RE9 looks awesome imo. I forgot which trailer it was in but there's a shot of Grace walking through the rain in the city and it looks incredible. It has a really cool noire vibe to it.

I think this will surpass SH2, but I'm avoiding media on the game from here on out as I've seen enough and just want to play. Maxed out with PT on PC should be a sight to behold.

Resident Evil is one of the better looking games coming out soon and in some parts looks awesome maxed out with PT. These newer multi platform games must be maxed out on PC to actually look "next gen" IMO, like Battlefield 6, Avatar etc.

I am a huge fan of Space Marine 2's visuals. They do an excellent job selling the scale of the warfare. Some levels that are not set during these big battles dont look as next gen, but there is a lot of detail in virtually every level, even slow ones.

This looks borderline cinematic. Absolutely insane what a custom engine can do. I wish more devs still made custom tech, but I guess its too time consuming now and extremely expensive.

I used to think RDR2 was the best looking game last gen but then I replayed TLOU2 recently, and man some of Ellie's levels look better than anything ive seen this gen. These are gameplay shots.

What blows my mind is that this is running on hardware from the year 2013...and we are in 2026. Let that sink in.

It looks great to me (as far as I can judge watching the showcase on a tablet). Though I'm a bit concerned about the overall texture resolution, especially when getting too close to objects while playing in 1st person.

No is not...The PS4 is doesnt look remotely like this. It passed through multiple iteration for remasters and ports.
The same these pictures of RDR2 are not from PS4 are from PC.

Stop lying yourself that the PS4 games in motion looks like these screenshots

RE9 looks absolutely incredible. I love Re Engine, not from a open world perspective but from a linear standpoint. It's so good
I don't like Re Engine because they made Street Fighter 6 realistic looking with it. Now i know that that's not depended on the engine but i knew when i first heard what engine SF6 will be on that it will be realistic which i don't like.

Interiors in RE Engine always look top notch to me.

Sometimes I imagine how good Resident Evil 1 would look in the engine since that game was 95% interior.

Another ue5 slop that show how decima and id engine are far superior 🥲

Honestly looks quite good, it just falls apart a bit at granular detail. The texture resolution is a weak point and I wish they had a virtualized geometry system; even in the zoomed out building you can see gaps in detail round the corners.

I posted those pictures back in 2021 when it was still running on BC mode. So those screenshots are running at native 1440p like the ps4 pro version. So 2016 hardware.

Part 2 remaster added very little improvements to the game. PS4 versions looks 90% like the new releases (outside of resolution of course).

What annoys me the most is the pretty lowres textures overall and sometimes almost N64 levels (like in the FF7 remakes).
It looks good from a distance but as soon as you get close it falls apart.

Do you guys like the 50/50 stealth/action split?

This is the kind of visuals that should make guys in this thread very hard:

There's a demo if someone want to try.

Thats why we keep mentioning today's ND is spinning their wheels, 2026 and we only got reveal trailer for that masculine blasian baldie, hell we all saw thread where studio gotta crunch to even make playable demo, wtf they did all those years, only activism? Thats not what they get crazy high salaries for...

Such a crazy fall from the top its not even funny. ND was top studio from mid 90s and first playstation generation, workhorse worth every penny and praise that delivered both quantity and quality, now tho its:

Naughty Dog almost 6 years ago on a 1.8 tflops hardware:

Naughty Dog Now on 10.2 tflops hardware equivalent to 15.3 PS4 tflops:

literally going backwards despite an 8.3x increase in GPU power.

The price of native 1440p/4K + raytracing you're not gonna notice the effect of anyway.

It took only 12 years to do what Black Desert Online did (a living world thanks to the quantity and density of NPCs) in 2014/2015.
I still have doubts if it is really an MMORPG or something like WWM.
