Do you have a favorite movie or actor?

too many movies.
right now off the top of my head: Back to the Future, Gattaca, The Green Mile
for actors:
Matthew McConaughey, Willem Dafoe, Jackie Chan

actresses, honestly don't really have any. Most of the ones I can actually name kind of left the acting scene, and the ones that are cast often, I barely pay attention to.
I guess Michelle Yeoh, Renee Zellweger

It's almost impossible for me to pick just one film or one Actor, Actress.

I think Tom Pelphrey & Mahershala Ali are probably the two best actors about right now.

Pelphrey just has "it", whatever that is. Him not getting any major awards for his turn in Ozark is criminal and he ends up being the highlight of everything he's in, even with small roles. I really would love to see him break out more.

And Ali appears to effortlessly become the character, I only see the character, not the actor, it's full on embodiment. Even when the character and the movie/show aren't interesting he always nails it. His work on True Detective S03 is an absolute showcase for portraying a character at different ages with all the appropriate mannerisms and subtleties.

My absolute favourite to watch from the past is George C. Scott.

In terms of folks who just make me wanna tune in, I find Tommy Lee Jones to be the actor equivalent of comfort food, with Russel Crowe and perhaps Denzel Washington occupying a similar slot. Then Nicholas Cage who perfectly bridges the gap between old acting and new while being completely unique.

Then there's Robin Williams who is probably the only celebrity whose death really bothered me personally, I still struggle a little watching his films ten years later but he's always a joy in both comic and dramatic roles.

The trailer sells Mr. Baseball short. It makes the movie look way more crass than it actually is.

The only actor I could think of as my favourite would be Kurt Russell in The Thing. He's so natural in that role and a perfect leading man.

I bet some others will come to mind later on.

Arnold Schwarzenegger. He is just so damn likable in every movie he is in. I'm always entertained, whether the movie is good or bad as long as he is in a leading role.

Favorite movies (too many to count, going for Perfect movies to awesome popcorn flicks).

Lawrence of Arabia (perfect movie)
Robocop (a masterclass in editing and pace)
Lethal Weapon (Even the latest entries. The family parts are even better than the action),
Top Gun (both),
Die Hard 3
Heat
Master and Commanders
Dark Knight
Interstellar, etc

Actors
Tom, Leo, Brad Pìtt, Ryan Gosling, Old Man Clint Eastwood, "Young" De Niro (from Godfather 2 until Men of Honnor. After that, shit)

Favorite movies.

Roger Rabbit.
Back to the future trilogy
fifth element
Fight club
Matrix 1
Bedazzled
Saving private ryan
Gravity Rush overture

There's more but these are some of my top favorites on the top of my head at the moment.

As for my favorite actor/actress, it's Jennifer Connelly and Arnold Schwarzenegger

Goodfellas
Casino

Robert De Niro
Al Pacino

Action movies: Terminator 2, Aliens

TV: Breaking Bad

Directors: Martin Scorsese, James Cameron for action movies

Favourite films which comes to mind:

13th Warrior
Fellowship of the Ring
The Odyssey mini-series (1997)
Terminator 2
Aliens
The Bridge
Das Boot
Barry Lyndon

Favourite movie hard to tell, but one that feels like a good old song that never ages is Jackie Brown

And actor, hard to not tell Tom Cruise, it's always very entertaining to watch

Favorite movie: Starship Troopers. Great special effects, pacing, action, dialogue, setting, tone, etc. And you can watch it through a number of different thematical lenses, which adds to rewatchability, too.

Favorite actor? Hard to say. I appreciate Tom Hardy's range and believability, so maybe him.

The only actor I could think of as my favourite would be Kurt Russell in The Thing. He's so natural in that role and a perfect leading man.

I bet some others will come to mind later on.

His son is a pretty good actor too, Wyatt Russell. I'm a big fan of Lewis Pullman and his dad Bill Pullman is a great actor too

Big Trouble in little China.

End of thread as it has every movie genre smashed into one inspiring story of a man who has no idea what he is doing, just doing what he thinks is right and getting his ass kicked along the way.

As the man, the myth, the legend himself says, "Have you paid your dues, Jack? Yes sir, the check is in the mail."
