RTX 5090 Price Expected To Increase Up To $5000 In 2026 (AMD RX 9000 range expected to increase as well)

Great news! I purchased a 5090 in anticipation of this… Hopefully Nvidia completely cuts supply so the price skyrockets past $5000. I will sell and walk away the original money i paid plus enough money to purchase a 5070ti.

Essentially, it'll work out to getting a 5070ti for free.

Imagine thinking that these price increases won't have a huge effect on your beloved consoles. You somehow see this as some kind of victory when in reality (in the real world and outside of safe walls of your parent's basement) this is a net negative for everyone.
Hey it's not like phones, tablets, TVs, routers, and even cars use memory and storage. It's only those fools at PCMR who all buy 5090s!

Well I know for certain I'm not going to build another gaming PC. It's either going to be Steam Machine or (most likely scenario) sticking with playing only on consoles. Even when they'll raise the prices it's still going to be a much cheaper option than building a decent PC.
I mean if you live by Microcenter you can still get a decent deal right now.

They have CPU / Motherboard bundles that you can add 32GB RAM for $200 and 9070XT/5070Ti are at around MSRP or lower.

And they and BestBuy have some decent prebuilts. But you would need to literally jump in ASAP as all bets are off as soon as next week.

Their source is a dude on Discord, and all these articles are referring to each other. Stop believing everything you read online.

Imagine spending $5000 to play games.

😂

Most of which, won't even utilize the power.

🤣

PC gamers, take this L.

🤣🤣🤣
"PC gamers". This will affect consoles, mobile phones, even your fridge. Every smart device out there. You will still be able to buy overpriced, low performing PC'S, just like consoles.

I should have invested in a gaming PC and sold it next year. I'm a terrible investor. The "how much your rig cost today" 2026 thread is going to be epic.

My son's 4090 power connector melted. He ordered a 5080 to replace it. I told him he was actually kinda lucky it happened now and not in a few weeks.

I have a little trouble leaving it'll go that high. But if it does, holy s***.

Presuming this effects consoles enough, our hardware market May shift towards maintenance of people's existing stuff as they can't afford to outright replace it. Luckily, gpus are surprisingly serviceable.

FR though, console manufacturers can just eat the cost (time will tell if they will though), since they're going to get 30% on every sale once the machine is in the house. Nvidia and AMD get nothing once you've purchased the hw

Pricing on the GabeCube will be VERY interesting
Sony and Microsoft didn't eat the cost, that's why both consoles cost more now than at launch. And if you think Nintendo won't raise prices then give it a few months. Bet Nintendo can't wait to raise prices.

My 4090 continues to be the best gaming purchase I've ever made. Who knew being an early adopter of the card back in 2022 would be the best gaming decision I ever made.

This shit is going to kill PC gaming if it keeps up. Sony and Nintendo will be laughing to the bank as these shitty prices of PC parts continues.

I won so much being an early adopter of the PS5 Pro and 4090, it's crazy and I can't believe it. With news of the PS6 being delayed and now this shitstorm happening with the 5090. Anyone spending $5000+ on a graphics card is an idiot IMO.

Bad fucking design, 4090 and 5090 should have two power connectors like that. One is way to close to maximum limits, no wonder that elements can't survive in the long run.

Yep. Took two years but it finally happened. Took me an hour to pry out the cable from the connector. What a waste

I was one of the lucky few who did a complete upgrade almost half a year ago, before the madness. The only thing I didn't upgrade was my GPU which was a 4070 Ti Super I bought last year. I was planning on getting a 6070 Ti Super to enjoy FFVII Part 3 at 100%, but now I fear I'll just have to make do with my 4070 Ti.

It was a decent upgrade - 16 TB of SSD space, 64 GB of DRAM, an AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D 4.2GHz ... good PC. Very happy with it.

Another moronic comment from a person that doesn't understand that their beloved console uses both a GPU and memory. Not sure why you would think that consoles are immune to the price increases.

Why people are stupid ?

Is it so hard to use the brain cells ? I really fear the new generation of kids with mushroom haircut and beyond. The stupidity is unmatched .

Why these people think it's only PC that is getting hit ? When all companies including their fav console maker is also gonna have a price increase in their hardware ? And that include the peasant spec hardware from 2020 and 2024 refresh garbage and their future systems.

God damn

Moronic comments from people that don't understand there is no reality where consoles 2.5x price this year. Fucking quote me and check in 12 months

its ok, pc does not have subsription fees like consoles, you can save alot of money in the long run.

those console users that despise subscription fees, its time to hop in to PC gaming now.
5000/72=69,444

So 69 years of PS plus essential.

That's gotta be a real long long run to pay off.

You lose all those "free" games once you stop paying. Compare this to Epic game store that gives people games for free forever (including something like GTA5) or amazon prime sub that give people games (PC) forever as well (you don't lose access when sub ends).

And you recover them all paying again a single month.

And you recover them all paying again a single month.

And sub gets more and more expansive. You also can't collect "free" games in the time you didn't have the sub.

I had PS+ subscription since 2010 (to ~ 2022 with two or three few months breaks) so I know how it works.

With this card you're in for the long haul. It's probably already more advanced than anything the next console generation will use.
And also, playing games with this card and the right setup is quite wild, I assure you.

That said, this rumour is wild. Wonder what that'll mean for the upcoming 60 series.

yeah. let me see the price of a whole PC 2.5x of how much it costs in 12 months too.

Ram is ram. whatever its on, PS5 or PC, or your phone. if its double the price on PC, it will be double the price on consoles.. and that will reflect on the price of the whole console.

The billing material of RAM manufacturing costs on MS or Sony is NOT what is going to be passed on to you. it will be higher, that's why you see the RAM retail price is retail.

But you are only trolling as your brain can't understand this concept. It must be too hard for you.

I hate these takes as it piles everyone in the same bucket.

Some actually play the PS Plus games, so for those people, PS Plus can be an overall cost-savings.

I'm a PC main and sub to PS Plus essential. I always play at least three games a year. Look at the list this year:

Our household has played Lies of P, Alan Wake 2, Ninja Turtles, Goat Simulator (kids) and Horizon Lego (kids) this year, with a few others in the backlog. Very good value for me.
I'm being sarcastic here

My entire library is on steam. I only have a few PS exclusives on my sony account. Xbox used to be my main, but I bailed after Xbox one. So, I'm kinda stuck on PC. I won't be moving away from it. It's too damn good.

The 5090 at the current ~$3000 street price is BY FAR the highest margin product in the entire technology consumer market that actually sales in any kind of meaningful volume (across computers, phones, consoles, etc...). To reach and actually achieve a single sale at $5000 they would literally have to shut down new production entirely and effectively make it rarer than pure platinum coated diamonds--which doesn't even make logical sense considering there are no other products to divert the DRAM to that could even begin or pretend to achieve the margins of a $3000 5090.

I honestly would do the same if it actually reach that high number. If I can sell it for msrp price and 5070ti on top ? I'll do that in a heart beat. 5070ti is a fucking great card
