Give us your 3 gaming PREDICTIONS for 2026.

Increasing console prices lead to a revival of arcades
Blowouts of development budgets force publishers to return to text-based adventures for home gaming
Sony releases a 'cup-ball' product as an interim for the PS6 until RAM prices come down.

Era of finishing Steam game backlog begins.
China produced games dominate sales.
Xbox completely decomposed in its grave.

- Xbox will move on from the Series consoles and launch the next system( PC/hybrid thing) for $1299. No point in delaying the release further because their current system is pretty much dead at retail.

- Switch 2 sales are going to fall under expectations, but due to RAM prices Nintendo won't be able to raise the console price. Instead they will raise the subscription prices for Nintendo online from $20 base/$35 family to $30 base/$45 family, and the expansion tier will go from $50 base/$80 family to $60 base/$90 family.

- Sony will keep current pricing for now. There's probably enough economies of scale to hold off the need to raise hardware prices......for now. You may get either a PSN bump, or they may eliminate the lower tier and 'force' people towards the higher tiers, which has the same effect as a price increase for those on the lowest basic tier

- The Steam machine because of the aforementioned RAM problem will be $899. It was originally supposed to be $699. And I'm guessing $899 is the subsidized price, in contrast to Valve saying they aren't going to subsidize. They have no choice now to avoid this being DOA

- All the PC handhelds will go up, Legion Go 2, Xbox ROG Ally etc. The GO 2 is already $1379 at the top end so...yikes.

- GTA 6 is going to delay until spring 2027

  • Xbox Leadership Change - Phil Spencer and/Or Sarah Bond get Shifted into New Roles - New Head/President of Xbox are internal Microsoft Hires With Strong Financial Acumen
  • Aaron Greenberg Suffers a Heart Attack and Passes Away
  • Xbox New Hardware Revealed - Is a Windows PC with Bloatware
AND
  • Switch 2 Continues to Struggle with Third Party Performance and Suffers From a Lack of AAA First Party Titles
  • Microsoft Continues to Kill the Xbox Brand as we Know It - Game Pass Becomes an Even Worse Deal
  • Steam Machine Popular Among Steam Fans - But Doesn't Move the Needle with Gen Pop
  • Nintendo Increases the Price of Their Online Package and Makes it Worse Somehow
  • Arc Raiders Sees a Signficant Drop in Playerbase, But Overall Continues to Be Relevant in 2026

Elder Scrolls 6 will be reannounced. 2027 release date.

Half Life 3 releases

GTA 6 described as a technical wonder, but too similar to GTA V.

Half Life 3 is Steam machine launch title
Steam Machine 699$
Gaming hardware prices won't stabilize until 2030, and superior richer forces will pivot to force prices to never come down.
Intergalactic (technically 2027) is a 10/10 game

Sony will decide against doing a portable next gen or significantly delay it beyond PS6 launch because RAM will even be in short supply for their vastly more important main consoles. They will just do a better Portal next gen instead. We will start hearing rumors of this in a few months.

New Fire Emblem will be far better than Engage. Switch 2 sales decline a bit in U.S. but remain very strong in Japan.

industry prays GTA won't be delayed again because consoles sales on Black Friday 2026 will be far worse than this year if it is.

- For sure GTA6 gets delayed. If they can delay it out of this FY, then they will have no problem moving it inside of next FY.
- Sony is already planning on moving Wolverine away from GTA6. Do they move up to August? September? I'm guessing the second Friday in September.
- GOTY noms are:

- Saros
- RE9
- Wolverine
- Crimson Desert (winner)
- Lego Batman
- Indie game we don't know about yet

I think Lego Batman is going to surprise people and I think TTI will have no problem moving GTA6 to Spring 2027 because, what's another 90 days and that is still within that fiscal year.

I'm so done with predictions... but here I go...

- 2026 will be a remaster of 2025
- DRAM prices will fuck everyone over
- Valve will release Half-Life 4... and make a claim that Alyx was Half-Life 3... because valve just can't release a game with a three in the title... for reasons only known to Gabe.

1) A lower cost low power PS5 will become rumoured
2) Steam Machine 2.0 will launch with HL3
3) xbox will reveal/market Magnus at anniversary event

1. Phantom Blade Zero scores meta 90+, makes it to every major GOTY poll
2. GTA6 releases on time, shocks the world with tech to remain unmatched for another decade +, sweeps all awards and makes all the money
3. Sony reveals PS6, launching with SSM/CB next big game which is GoW with Loki as the lead

1. GTA6 gets delayed again, publishers who moved their releases to not get stomped by GTA are angry and stand there without anything ready for release.

2. Steam Machine is sold out through the year, concerned console warriors are downplaying the success and exaggerate any little problem, there is a constant debate about what a PC actually is.

3. Xbox system unveil at summer showcase, launch in 2027. It's a mid spec PC in a console shell for the living room. Direct competitor to Steam Machine. It has legacy Xbox backwards compatibility done partly with hardware, exclusive to this Xbox plus supported third party manufacturer.

Everything getting more expensive, one publisher will try to release a big AAA game for $100 in an attempt to standardize that price range. Maybe GTA 6 will be that game.

Dragon Quest XII in-engine trailer is shown at DQ Day in May.

A new "mainline" 3D Mario game is announced to synergize with the movie.

Bonus: Command & Conquer will still stay dead, like the rest of the RTS genre. Fuck everyone.

1. Microsoft discontinues Xbox Series X with no successor in sight.

2. Half-Life 3 is nowhere to be seen

3. GTA VI becomes the fastest selling/grossing entertainment event in history

- Sandfall Interactive will buy Ubisoft
- Ocarina of Time remake announcement
- Xbox nose dives with the attempt to rescue the Xbox hardware

  • Fallout 3 Remaster/Remake shadowdrop
  • Xenoblade 4 announced for a 2027 release
  • Star Wars Zero Company will turn out to be a fantastic tactics game

A lot of people crawling back from their critics as 1.500€ PS5 Pro is now the most affordable premium system in the market. Specially after they implement FSR4 and more specially after the great purge of the Patriot Games.

1. We'll get a remake
2. We'll get a remaster
3. We'll get a sequel

You can't miss with these...

1) PlayStation and Nintendo either raise hardware prices or cut back on default storage.
2) Grand Theft Auto 6 makes its currently scheduled November release.
3) Microsoft delays the next CoD into 2027 after a very poorly received reveal, and tries to rationalize it with "well GTA would have ate our lunch."

World Of Warcraft will be added to Gamepass
Nintendo will open a Steam Store Page and drop paid Emulations of Nintendo classics
Gabe Newell will pass away

1 - GTA6 becomes the fastest selling game of all time (this one feels pretty safe)
2 - MS drops out of the console market - their numbers are just getting worse and worse and I think they just pack it in
3 - More layoffs, consolidations, and buyouts across the board.

1. Hardware across the board will see price hikes. We might even see delays announced for next gen plans.

2. SSM's next game gets announced.

3. Gta 6 releases in nov 2026 and breaks single day/week/month sales records. It is shorter than gta 5 and safer but still good.

4. Marathon is decent and does well.

5. Steam machine is more expensive than expected but will do well( compared to steam deck). It will disappoint people hoping it does as well as consoles.

6. Sony will announce more games for xbox

1. No more Sony PC ports for some reason.
2. Nintendo experiments with PC release in their own way... making a dumb no-one-asked-for f2p game using their IP, download launcher from a website, not even using Steam. Login with Nintendo account. (think Super Mario Run, but for PC; for example PC-specific f2p Pikmin title with daily missions, harsher time limits and microtransactions).
3. Steam Frame sold out within minutes.

  • Xbox next gen console is cancelled or revealed to be 3rd party licensed PC box
  • Halo will sell decent but underperform due to MS releasing at some stupid time, near a bigger new game
  • Less and less smaller/AA games release on Xbox, at least at launch, due to poor sales on their platform.

1 – GOTY 2026 will be contested by Resident Evil Requiem, Wolverine, Phantom Blade, Crimson Desert, Pragmata, and GTA VI, with GTA VI winning and becoming the biggest explosion of popularity and sales in videogame history.

2 – PlayStation single-player games will have the PC tap basically shut off.

3 – Microsoft sparks controversy as it officially prepares for the end of Xbox Series hardware production, signaling an early end to the generation for them.

Bonus:

• Games like Half-Life 3, remakes of Silent Hill 1, Splinter Cell, Assassin's Creed IV, the new Cory Barlog game, and the next 3D Mario will be revealed.

• Steam Machine gets decent sales but proves to be a niche device, just like the Steam Deck.

• Several AAA projects slow down or roll back woke elements after internal changes, with people like Schreier stirring controversy over it.

• PS5 gets a massive, unreal sales boom driven by GTA VI.

• Intergalactic gameplay is shown, looks interesting, but keeps generating memes.

• Marathon won't be the disaster everyone expects.

• Fairgame$ gets canceled or reintroduced as something completely different.

• The push to unionize studios will be the big debate and a massive headache in 2026.

  • Halo will sell decent but underperform due to MS releasing at some stupid time, near a bigger new game
The Halo remake will bomb, because of lack of multiplayer.

Multiplayer, first local and then via Xbox Live, is what made Halo into a blockbuster game. Remove that and the single-player campaign alone isn't enough to carry the game.
