The Official NeoGAF "Introduce Yourself" Thread

Halo, long time lurker. I even forgot that I made an account in 2022. To this day, that is. I like games, popping Zyns in my mouth and taking psych meds for my supposed bipolar disorder. And porn, but don't tell my future wife, pls. I also have an account on ResetEra which I'm ashamed of

You need to change the icon, and get off the porn. It rots your brain.

Hey, don't know what to say. I got approved a while ago, but never really posted much. Trying to post more now. I hope one day I'll get the honor of being able to make a thread, lol.

Hi all!

I guess the easiest way to describe myself is: I'm a retro gamer through and through.

I grew up in the Balkans, where my first real contact with computers was an Apple ][e in school. At home I gamed on borrowed systems — an Atari 2600 here, a C64 there — squeezing every minute out of them in the late '80s.

In the early '90s I moved to Germany, and that's where my world really opened up: I finally got my Amiga 500+, and later added a monitor, a RAM expansion, and the legendary 20MB hard drive. Since strategy games were (and still are) my favorite genre, being able to install them to a hard disk made me the happiest guy alive.

Fast-forward to the second half of the '90s: I moved to the U.S., went back to school, and ended up working in IT. I still have a few old consoles, but I don't really call myself a collector — mostly because my wife definitely wouldn't allow that to happen!

I don't usually enjoy multiplayer games, but somehow I got hooked on Runes of Magic. Played on the official servers for a few years, eventually left because F2P felt too expensive, and the game started to feel like a second job. After that I ended up as a GM on a private server (which later closed), tried Arcadia for a bit, but when the guild moved to vanilla EverQuest I stepped away.

After many years of resisting digital libraries, I finally gave in and joined Steam — now sitting a little over 4,000 games, with a bit of help from friends.

Back in the day I was most active on EAB (Amiga roots and all).
Here, I mostly read; I rarely post because most of the time someone already writes exactly what I was thinking.

Looking forward to chatting when I have something useful to add!

Hi,

I'm having an issue with thread creation.

When I try to create a new thread in Gaming I get the message that my account doesn't have the privileges to post threads. I can reply just fine, but I can't start a topic.

Is this expected for Neo Members, or is there something wrong with my account / a restriction I'm not aware of?

Thanks!

Hi everyone. Lurking since the PS3/Xbox 360 days. Witnessed it all, the E3 hype battles, our lord Kaz, TVTVTV and the fall of Mattrick, the deciphering of the CBOAT, the 8GB DDR5 of the Cerny and so much more. And on a personal note, with this gen I managed to finally heal my Sony bias by first time owning a Playstation AND Xbox 🫶. One of my favourite things for almost 20 years was to listen to music and reading the GAF before I go to bed...now I can also write (a little)...feels unreal 🫣

Hello, I'm starflame.

I've been around the gaming space for a long time. I attended E3 in 2016 and had an early chance to play games like Titanfall 2, which left a strong impression on me and influenced how I look at games today. I tend to gravitate toward PC-focused games and multiplayer, having grown up with titles like Ragnarok Online, while still holding games like Bloodborne in high regard. While I'm less active as a creator these days I feel my opinions on the medium have sharpened a lot over the years.

Perhaps what I've been missing is a good old BBS to read and post takes on, rather than fragmented discussions across Twitter threads and Discord chats where takes are easily lost.

Looking forward to reading and participating.

Hi all, I'm happy to finally get approval to join in here.

I discovered and started lurking Gaf back when the Gran Turismo HD Concept demo came out on PS3 around Christmas 2006 (I'm sure there was a good guide on here about how to get it with a Japanese account).

I continued to lurk for years as it was hard as shit to get approved and eventually joined a purple gaming forum that very quickly became a human rights forum instead. I deleted my account there and have came back to Gaf and made the effort to get approved and actually join in this time around.

Obviously also here for the Sydney Sweeney (praise the lord) thread as well.

Going by the other recent posts I finally got in on this batch of approvals.

Hi! I've been playing video games since the SNES. Mostly on PC now, not playing much in the way of new releases these days but cautiously optimistic for the future. 😂

Hey EviLore EviLore or Mod of War Mod of War

This is @Puscifer actually. Months ago I lost my keepassDX master file in a NAS failure. Your password reset prompt never sent me the email to my Mailfence essentially locking me out of access. I've moved to Bitwarden (self hosting is cool sometimes but not all the time lol) and reset my major passwords but not that one since it wasn't possible. Help me out here!

I received the good news my account was recently approved. A wonderful highlight of the holidays!

I look forward to thoughtful discussions with you all.

I've been gaming on PC since the early 2000s; which is my preference, yet I also enjoyed games on the Dreamcast and Gamecube for a time.

Hello, glad to be approved now. I've been reading threads on the site for a long time but finally decided to make an account. I've been gaming since childhood, which for me was the 2000s, but I'm a big fan of retro games too (SNES, Mega Drive, PS1, NES).

Hey there. The name's An Corp.

Been here for a while and finally got approved. Thanks for the great reading material so far!

I'm a big gamer. Not in size, but in love for the hobby. Love retro games and games created with passion—which feels rare these days (indie all the way!!). Been playing games since I was 5 with my NES back in 1989.

My name comes from Ultima Online, one of my favorite games and MMO of all time. So let me know if you've played UO before. We'll probably get along well.

Played and owned almost every console since NES, but PC is where my heart is these days.

Hey Puscifer, good to have you back. I've confirmed your identity and merged your accounts, preserving your original username. Use your new account's password and email address going forward. Not sure why you didn't get a password reset, sorry for the trouble.

Thanks buddy! Yeah I've moved on from Mailfence because I'm realizing just how many emails I'm not getting. Happy New Year!

Hi Everyone! I'm glad to be able to be apart of a fun gaming community!

Tiny bit about myself, I'm 24 this Feb, from the UK, have a BA and an MA in games design and love all things games! I recently completed my teaching degree where I did placement at a college teaching games development, and now I'm just working admin until I find another area that teaches such a niche field.

BTW, Final Fantasy 5 is the best one in the series, no further questions!

Hi folks, after a long wait I received a membership! In the wait I have managed to fry my gpu on my laptop while making concept art, with stable diffusion, for a game I'm designing.

Otherwise I'm saving up for a new device, and at the moment in the little spare time I have I can play games on an integrated chip with 2gb memory. So I am chilling with baldurs gate games. I'll be on the hunt for games that run on low end systems.

Wishing everyone a happy new year and I pray 2026 will be a great year for everyone.

Hey everyone, quite surprised to see my account get activated this morning. Glad to finally be part of the community I've been visiting on and off for a very long time.

I'm 38 and from Canada.

Never been big on actually joining in on online discussions, always been a lurker on forums but I was diagnosed with Epilepsy over the summer so I'm trying to change some things about myself.

Only own a ps5 so that's how I try to enjoy my hobby. Recently started Kingdom Come Deliverance. Don't get a lot of time to game these days. Have 2 young kids so that's my main focus in life right now.

Wild and wacky. I don't even remember when I signed up- but here I am.

Close to 60, been gaming since I was a young'un. Started on an Apple ][+ with cassette and everything in-between since then.

Right now I have a 7900x/5090 setup. Currently playing Cyberpunk (which I decided to wait on until I got a 5090) and having fun with it.

Pleasantly surprised to see my account activated today! I've heard about NeoGAF for well over 20 years, back when you had to have an email address that wasn't Gmail, Yahoo, etc. With discussions and forums moving to the big, well known websites, I decided to go back to the roots of the Internet: forums dedicated to specific topics. I've really enjoyed reading the archived threads of people's excitement for game releases that we now view as some of the best, most popular games.

Hey there,
surreal to get the account approved on the 31st of December haha. That's gonna be a great start to 2026! :D (Lurked the forums for YEARS).
I'm a 38 year old straight guy from Germany and play almost exclusively on consoles. Own a PS2, 3, 4 Pro and 5 Pro, so pretty much a Sony pony (do the young kids still say that today? Lmao). Own an Xbox OG, 360, Series X, Wii, PSP, Vita and Switch 2 as well!
I love racing games and Gran Turismo is my passion. Other series I like the most and mostly follow: MGS, GOW (Gears and God), Zone of the Enders, Silent Hill, Ace Combat, Forza (Motorsport and Horizon), Burnout and Project Gotham Racing.

Honestly looking so much to engage in discussing beloved games and in sales threads with all of you!

Cheers 🍻
