Bungie: "We’re opening Marathon playtest signups for an NDA’d Closed Technical Test from October 22 - 27"

I'll be honest it seems like they've listened to the criticisms and fixed alot of stuff with this game and they're not going to rush it. People have been saying that it looks alot better and that the game is in a much better state which is great news. Maybe sony/playstation brought the hammer down on their asses with the firings and replacements and it lit a spark under bungie.
 
Honestly?

They're doing everything Firewalk didn't do in the run-up to Concord's release. I'm not sure if it will save the game, but lots of streamers I saw indicated Bungie was *close* to something really special here.

Ya it seems they've added a ton of stuff and quality of life fixes since it got delayed and sony replaced some people in charge. I think Sony got them back on the right track, especially when they fired/retired pete parsons.

I'm overwhelmed by the hatred for this game. I can't understand it. Like Paul Thomas Anderson's critical success or some dogshit called Megabonk blowing-up.

Solo queue means matching against other solos? Like how Arc Raiders does it. You could already queue as a solo player before as far as im aware.

Goes against everything Sony used to stand for. Plus they apparently killed Factions, which was the best thing ever.
 
Hopefully will somehow turn out good for the people who care, but I have no faith in modern Bungie whatsoever.

They're a shadow of the former selves to an even worse degree than Blizzard already.
 
I for one am curious how big changes they can make compared to first gameplay reveal/betatests, if nda closed beta test happening end of oct then i would assume non nda beta(not even open but not nda) could still happen this year, so by then we will get proper impressions from ppl who played both- early build and this current one.
Ofc being realistic i dont expect anything major changed but who knows, maybe the devs surprise us somehow :messenger_spock:

Solo queue? I thought they said that in their testing solo queue was boring because everyone opted to go stealth and nothing interesting happened.

Lol yeah right! More interesting than Intergalactic? I don't think so. Or Saros? Not even more than Wolverine....maybe if it had a campaign that looked great I could agree with you
 
Not only does this little gem of a game from the up and coming dev Bungie "soon" release, theire other game Destiny 2 right now has a ccu off 7k on steam. I mean, damn this company will get bought by Sony or something for gazillions in just a couple of years!

Smells like sunken cost, honestly. It's a game made in the wrong genre. The stolen assets was a bad omen that dishonest people are behind the project, the whole premise of the game's existence is because of internal corporate bullshitters, it won't make it.

Boob size selection on type A (male) characters, dick size selection for type B (female) characters.
Dildo weapons and strap-on melee combat.

Yeah seems like a nightmare scenario to be honest. I know tarkov was (still is?) big, but does anybody actually give a fuck about extraction shooters anymore?

Arc Raiders comes out shortly. Expected to be very popular. The test went down a storm.

Good games will be popular regardless.

My opinion on this game's future still hasn't changed. No way it sets the world on fire and no way it sees a relatively early death.

Its gonna coast and keeps getting better till it's milking time. That's the Bungie way.

They probably do? I have no idea, my brain isn't GAAS powered enough to tell you! The whole marathon / numbskull money grab vibe is just overwhelmingly boring for this kind of stuff. Should be a single player rpg story shooter. It's way too hard in the scifi deep end, it's like Arc Raiders, this shit won't ever take off properly. I'd recommend never to use robots / non organics as enemies in these kinds of games too, the masses demand blood.

The premise of Tarkov is cool because it dives deep into the East Europe military dread-horror fantasy. That's important. Last big ticket online game to pull that vibe off was COD MW2019 as well as its warzone mode.

They should make Skate an extraction mode, think that could be a banger. The mode should vibe well with emergent sandbox stuff.

Marathon could go belly up like Concord, or it could become a top 10 most played game on PlayStation. PlayStation has never made a game in this nascent genre before. A breath of fresh air.

Saros, Wolverine, and (likely) Intergalactic are much more predictable - though we don't know much about Intergalactic.

Nah, it's just standard GAAS. Subscription doesn't really work here.

Also, there's nothing low effort about sticking with your game post launch. That's actually what we would call "high effort".

As someone who isn't the target audience for anything multiplayer I am coflicted about wishing it success (which ultimately is kinda a necessity in current gaas hellhole of customer boredom, which then means getting more of it from Sony) or if I want it to fail (and Sony reevaluatting their targets even more, getting back to single player, variety, also more smaller indie like games)
From little I watched or was shown Concord is probably still the only other game beside Helldivers I have a slight interest, and did not try it out when I had the chance. lol
 
signed up for this and we'll see I guess. I was not a big extraction shooter person and the only one I've played was the Arc Raiders beta. but I am interested in this so we'll see how it is. as a long time Destiny who had not touch the game in almost a year, I'm still willing to try them out.

I meant this seems like one of those waifu games where the point is to just play dress up basically. It just sounds like the Eververse on steroids.
