I guess it only sold kinda well on PC, and sales on Xbox consoles must be below 1 million globally (to the fans before jumping to the throat, think two minutes, if it had sold well Walmart would not take this decision)

Todd and Phil when thinking about the 10 million sales potential which were forecasted on PS5 and that they decided to let go

Jokes aside collecting physical copies of new Xbox games isn't very wise. It's not just because you can play the MS games on GP, it's also because it's getting more likely that the successor won't have a physical drive. At least Sony is continuing the support with stuff like offering a drive for new Slim models (even if it's crazy expensive).

These concerns are exactly why, if you're gonna get it, do it for three cents!

I wonder if there is an immeninet announcement coming this Monday or by first of Feb.

This news doesn't make any logic. Why starfield only and not all games ?

They probably have an actual warehouse full somewhere and this is the easiest way to get rid of it. I'm sure they'd keep it with the regular XBX stuff if they had a normal amount of stock. A lot of buyers probably expected Skyrim and Fallout sales.

Edit: if more stores start to remove/not stock physical games for xbox does that mean that the series X is going out of production soon?
It will mean 3rd parties will need a bigger incentive to invest in the platform when an entire revenue stream is being phased out.

This would (theoretically) be great for Xbox 1st party games though as it will push more (precieved) value towards Gamepass if that's one of the only places you can actually play their titles.

Lot of people in this thread seem to be enjoying the death of physical.
Not happy with it. But it’s what it’s going to be.

I’ve not bought a physical pc game in 20 years. Do computers even come with disc drives anymore? My PC I built has a DVD drive, but it’s not plugged in. It’s a useless piece of hardware

Sure will. Switch 2 will sell gangbusters and they will be stocking them.
Nintendo this century has been kinda

Hit
Miss

GameCube - miss
Wii - hit
Wii U - miss
Switch - hit
Switch 2?

Speaking SOLEY on sales. All of their handhelds this century have been a hit. GBA, DS, 3DS.
