Eurogamer why our Starfield: review will be late (DF unaffected and will be on time)

So you’re openly supporting publishers fucking around with free and open journalism because they’ve published something you don’t like?

"free and open journalism" because those keys are supposed to be free and open right? "journalism".....

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?
Not a fan of Edge or Eurogamer, but no review code for skill up looks like a red flag.

Skill up reviews seem fair, so not giving him a code looks like their trying to hide something.

The OP article says that the US branch of Zenimax is sending codes to UK outlets.

This seems to be some kind of a mess at Zenimax UK. Maybe they fucked up an allotment of codes somewhere.

Yeah, journalism. Journalism includes writing things you don’t like. This is an open market of reviewers, and the market should decide.

Nobody’s forcing you to look at a particular outfits work. That’s why so many exist. But it’s not enough for some of you, is it, that plenty of others exist and are more to your pleasing?

You need complete conformity or you start screeching.

Nobody cares what you’re not a fan of.

It makes no difference to who should get review codes, if you’re a publisher that actually respects your audience as consumers.

You don’t want to read EG, don’t read edge. No one is forcing you to. What if - a game buyer - want to read the EG review of this game?

Man, someone from Bethesda or Xbox should drop a tweet or xeet (what the kids call them these days), because this is a bad look.

We will start caring about EG and such when they will act the same to devs like Avalanche who did nothing wrong yet was punished for some imaginary reason.

yep, who did & did not get review codes is one of the things that has kept me from pre-ordering the game still

they’ve been weirdly selective, it feels like even more so than usual for a big game launch
I am really curious why we got denied. Gonna assume it's because of our lowest metrics than most in terms of traffic and awareness, but the strange thing is we reviewed titles like GoW Ragnarok and Elden Ring and had the copies WEEKS in advance. Also, Elden Ring/Namco uses the same PR Agency as Bethesda. I have no fucking clue. We never had beef/awkward moments with either publisher either. Go figure.

How can anyone take these guys seriously? Where are these pics with Sony execs?
Xbox era got a review code though, you know - the guys that gave redfall an 8.5 out of 10. I'm sure they will give it a fair and honest review.
fun fact, the same person at Xbox Era that gave Redfall an 8.5 is the one that gave Armored Core VI a 6.5

I mean I’d find it hard to believe you guys have lower metrics than some of the Twitter troll/fanboys that for some reason got early codes 🤷🏼‍♂️ or Xbox Era…

just seems like they’re being selective and definitely giving preferential treatment to ‘reviewers’ that they know will follow the “you scratch my back and I’ll scratch yours” approach

Why are media outlets entitled to early free access to any game? They can still review it when it comes out by buying a copy out of their own pocket.

Publishers should not give out review codes to outlets that don't respect consumers and insert their own inappropriate societal/political opinions in an area that doesn't require it. It's just not professional.

Microsoft/Bethesda let these clowns have their code for now though

EG used the "I'm going to complain about it on social media" strategy and won.

Nah, try again.

It says in the OP that they (EG) had been contacting MS/Bethesda and flagging the problem to various people.

It’s obvious that talking about it on social media, as they’re approaching the point of having to delay, would be their last move and not their first.

So why did PureXbox UK not receive a code either?

Maybe they could take some pics with Sony execs if they bothered to fucking show up to an industry convention.
