This reminds of when 85% of participants sent messages of support of the deal, and CMA disregarded it cause most arguments for the deal where poor.

The funny thing is that these indie devs are embarrassingly ignorant. What do they think will happen to their games once MS has their way and GP is filled with big name IPs?

Fucking idiots.
Lol Microsoft will still make lots of deals with indies to fill out Gamepass. You mean 1 big IP after diablo 4 there is squat from abk for consoles outside COD anytime soon. Just because indies see what a sony home console monopoly would mean to them but you guys know better lol.

No idea what you are talking about. I'm not lying or trolling. As I pointed out, it is an edu license that is being broadened into non edu chromebooks. Is that not correct?

What is your problem? If I am wrong about something then just point it out. No need to be an asshole.
Man I try wording things in the nicest way possible a somehow, someway, hurt butts occur. I didn’t realize this was era your acting like I called you out your name calm down.

Also I did point it out, it’s the edu edition, it’s not vanilla Minecraft. It’s as simple as that. The keyword of the day is bedrock edition. Weird I even have to explain that.

Calling someone a troll and a liar = "wording things the nicest way possible"? That's hilarious.

And yes, IFireflyl IFireflyl corrected my mistake. Somehow he was able to do so without being an asshole.

I don’t think it’s an argument against Sony, or Microsoft for that matter. it’s just taking the same argument people use against MS and applying it to Sony.

By Sonys own admissions to the CMA, they are too reliant on all the money CoD brings in for them and they have failed to create anything themselves that can replicate it. The closest they’ve been able to come to it is Destiny, which they acquired the same way MS is trying to acquire ABK.

Which, again, is all moot anyway because the game isn’t going anywhere. Sony is just making Microsofts case for them of why it makes no sense for them to remove CoD from PlayStation.
Sony's need for CoD is hardly proof that it makes no sense for MS to remove CoD from PlayStation. That is precisely what the CMA is worried about. Removing access would cause great harm to MS's greatest competition allowing MS to gain an unfair advantage in the marketplace. This isn't about boohoo Sony is the market leader. This is about a very wealthy company being able to use its economic power to shape a market and gain an advantage that others can't. Including the current market leader. That is what many fail to understand. The fact that Sony is the market leader and MS, in one transaction, can put them at such a disadvantage. It should be alarming to anyone that cares about the overall market and not a plastic box.

That was one of Sony's lamest excuses not to hand over documents... You can paste a document and have it translated in 2 seconds. hell, you could probably just paste it into chatGPT and it would correct the formatting for you lol
Those auto translation programs are not perfect and would probably cause issues in a legal environment.

They already told you what they thought would happen... increased xbox sales and even more money for themselves because of it.

If you think a google translate is enough for legal documents I don't know what to tell you. It can land you in legal trouble and a human that's a lawyer needs to do it.

Clicked the tweet links. First response is from a MS partner for over 15 years. Second is an independent dev who gaslights (would UK gamers be better if Tencent bought Activision is asked in paragraph 3). Third is anonymous, cannot predict effects of merger, but doesn't think their company will be harmed. Fourth is praising GP because people don't like buying their games on PS very much (as I read it). There was nothing for 5 or 6 to read.

I'd put as much weight on these as letters from parents of those involved.
Idk why people overlook the tencent thing. Activision wants to sell, there's a short list of companies capable of buying them.

We shouldn't even need to talk about China and it's role inside every corporation in its grasp.

Huh? Not sure what you mean. My point was that this Destin guy is making this all about the number of documents. What is in the documents seem to be irrelevant to him.
In the sense that there are documents that never arrived in PlayStation America, that no one Jim Ryan and previous CEO knows what decisions they contain.

Get her now.

Because soon enough...

The riper the berry, the sweeter the juice. :messenger_savoring:

So does it mean that if the ABK acquisition is blocked, and Xbox console sales become even lower and lag behind PlayStation, it will be beneficial for indies? 😛

As long as indies keep getting great deals and exposure, it's a great deal for them. 🤷‍♂️

I mean, you've said it yourself: they're big name IP's. If it's big name IP's, then it won't do much for the discovereability of indy games because well... you don't have to market big IP's as much. The praise indies are giving Microsoft is the discovereability of their games on their online store.
They're in a much better position to assess the merger on their business. It's quite some arrogance to call them 'fucking idiots' over it.

Sony has no case other that 'it will cost us the sweet profit we're making on our 70$ games'. Get over it, it's a good deal for everyone involved and the only one that opposes it from te published documents is Sony. Surprise surprise.

Yes I know why Sony is against it… because muh call of doody revenue. Which they will still have, because the game will stay multi platform.

I’m glad we saw some responses from other people actually in the industry, and they have no problems with the deal. It’s basically Sony clutching their pocketbook and their warriors falling in line.
It will stay multi platform for sure, just like Starfield.

Anyways, I don't care. COD is trash now, I payed for the game on PS5. Content dripping is actually exhausting. MWII is nowhere near what COD was with MW2019. And they have the audacity to announce "new" maps which were supposed to be at launch, still no 2vs2. And I've read rumours about payed premium DLC.

I'm actually more curious what Sony x Deviation Games with OG Black Ops devs are cooking. Socom? If the deal will go through maybe we will see some new IP and with PC porting studio Sony have it could be released on PC and PS5. It would force Sony to compete.

But dunno if this will be good for industry at all.

Microsoft usually pays Indie Devs the entire development cost to release their games on Game Pass, while their games are being sold on PlayStation, Xbox and PC. Extra Revenue.

Well.....yeah. Sony doesn't want to make less money so they are opposed to this deal. If it were the other way around, Microsoft would be against it as well. Why would either just "get over it"? Are the company CEOs supposed to go to their stockholders and explain that they are not going to make as much money as they used to and they should "get over it"? That CEO might as well pack their office. The document above from the dev clearly says that they want Xbox to have more market share so they can make more money. Microsoft stands to make more money from their $70 games as well. Money is the motivation all around here.

Plenty of those games are timed exclusives on Game Pass.

The idea is that MS are relying on indies to fill out their portfolio, but once this portfolio gets a steady stream of first party content that's more popular and more profitable they're less likely to give indies coverage/exposure or moneyhats.

It’s weird seeing people so against the deal and claiming Sony has such a good case when it literally is just “we make lots of money off of this one game that we don’t even create or own, please don’t take it away. yes I know MS doesn’t want to take it away but please! yes I know there is a ten year offer on the table but please! yes I know we just spent billions on one developer who makes a CoD type game but please!”

I understand the idea. I don't understand how forum dwellers can claim they understand the impact better than the indies themselves.
