Anyone else want The Darkness remake?

I'm likeable
Great, great games. One especially. It's not that the originals have aged poorly but the series could use a graphical update and an introduction to a new audience to experience their greatness. plus Jackie estacado is a beast.

Yeah and while they're at it remake the second game, since it wasn't nearly as good as the first game. Was way faster paced than the first game, and the artstyle was off.

It would be nice. I'd love to play the first game again but on PC. I don't much feel like digging out my 360 and hooking it up just to play it again despite how much I loved that game.

Yeah and while they're at it remake the second game, since it wasn't nearly as good as the first game. It was way too fast paced compared to the first game, was too colorful, and the cel-shaded artstyle was too drastic of a change (should be more subtle, akin to Valkyrie Elysium, where character details really pops).

Feeling Season 5 GIF by Sony Pictures Television

Me, because it could definitely benefit from an update. I remember the controls being awful, and it never released on PC.

I was thinking this just the other day. The first one was excellent and 2 finished of a cliff hanger never to be resolved. Definitely would be interested in a remake.

Cautiously on board so long as they don't touch the voice acting. Tighten up the gameplay, make it pretty, overhaul the sound effects, sure, but the voice acting was perfect.

Give me the first game on PC and I'd be satisfied, but more is good. Looks like it's already available on Xbox back-compat, which is a start.

Including the entirety of To Kill A Mockingbird for the sake of that early scene with Jackie's girl was pure class, and the transition into hell, where the darkness tries and fails to stop him from blowing his own brains out after she gets shot, is one of those scenes that really sticks in your head. If you'll forgive the pun.

The loading screen mobster patter is a top-tier character building device too:

Listen... The best way to my uncle Paulie's heart, is through his ribcage with a meat cleaver.

Loved the comics, not so much the game to be honest, first person perspective is what killed the vibe for me, would love it to be TPP to see Jackie Estacado and hos transformation, and it would allow for sone melee combat a'la Prototype. So yeah, I'd love a reboot, but only it it's in TPP.

Man that was back when Starbreeze was the shit. Riddick and The Darkness were two of my favorite games. Both were graphical showpieces as well. Digital Extremes also did an amazing job with Darkness 2. Loved the cel shaded visuals. I know The Darkness games never sold too well, but fuck I'd love some remasters and The Darkness 3.

I loved the 2 games, more the first than the second. I didn't know anything about the universe of The Darkness, but I was blown away by it.

Never mind the story, guns, powers, acting, load screen stories, the drab yet living subway and its npcs etc, it was the first game to make me say "aww, that's nice" in regards to certain optional action watching TV, and to actually feel so angry and vengeful the way the story went shortly after that. Dunno why I got so invested so quick, but I wasn't complaining.

As a PC gamer full time now (for the past few years) I would love the first to be on there as I think only the 2nd game is. A third game would be welcome too of course.

Jackie and an ancient evil are out for revenge and I make a timely joke.

It's too bad this never released on PC (the first one), because while emulation might be decent on this game one day, it will still be missing mouse and keyboard.
I really liked it when I played it on ps3 back then, but never played the sequel, I remember being super disappointed in the demo, with the different art style and all.

First game was amazing. Second game was good. Not sure I want a remake but it would be nice to get a PC version. I don't follow comics that closely anymore but is the the Darkness still a popular one.

So interesting that this thread comeup. I mean I think that the Darkness is such a cool and underappreciated FPS game. It would be so cool to see a remake/remaster for the current generation (although that would likely not happen). I think that the Darkness is one of those games that so many more people would have enjoyed if given the chance to play the game. I think the developer did a staller job on game. I think the same is true for the sequel which I think is also a very well made and fun game to say the least! Many hugs to Starbreeze and Digital Extremes. Again I think many, many people unfortunately have missed out on the games..

Can btw mention that I wrote a reivew of the game a few months ago if anyone is intrested to have a look.

I am replaying the first game in rpcs3 now.
Unfortunately, it has to be played at native resolution, but at-least it is running in 60fps.

The Darkness was btw one of the first games I deiced to play when I after some of hiatus deiced to pick up gameing again

Cool. It would intresting to know what think about the game after you have finshed it. I would also recommend to check out and play the sequel at some point in time. Its so cool that you can take out the lights hehe.
