Switch killing it as always. Great PS5 numbers. Xbox couldn't even crack 1k combined, lol.

Happy to see Crisis Core doing well on all systems. 100k on Playstation shows that Sony has the FF fanbase on lock, even in Japan.

Just double checking, Crisis Core did release on XBOX, right? I don't seem to see it on the list.

Switch continues to roll and print money. Good luck on a successor any time soon with these numbers and domination.

You also get the sense that if Sony can fix its supply issues, the PS5 may start to impress sales wise. Maybe the tide is quietly turning.

It's good to see PS5/PS4 software sales splits starting to favour PS5 even in Japan.
Also great PS5 hw sales with even more expected during Christmas and new year weeks (which is the peak of holiday season in Japan) like Sony promised a week ago.

It did but Xbox games never hit the top 10 in Japan or even the top 30.

Ff16 will explode ps5 sales, sony better be prepared.

Will be interesting to see what the weekly sales for ps5 settle on quieter periods with stock issues being sorted out.

35... Wow...

You can count these on the fingers of one hand.. That's insanely low..

What happened?

I cry about Xbox and hate PlayStation.

i think sony already anticipated that, FF is one of the few IP that will do well in Japan.
Sony will push even harder on the stocks in Japan

Imo series x just ain't going to work in Japan, someone who wants a console at that price point and power is going for a ps5.

Series s on the other hand would have a bit more value being cheap and small.

If 35 series x is a sign of demand lessening, then we shouldn't expect a 'massive' difference next week or the next couple of weeks.

Its okay to be say that xbox has much lower demand in japan and shitty stock allocation.

This was...surprising to say the least.

And a good result. 150k copies sold for the game.

[PS5] Gran Turismo 7 (SIE, 03/04/22) – 7,864 (206,233)
GT7 surpassing 200k from the PS5 version alone is also good news.

MS not trying to take advantage on Christmas weeks for the market that was giving them the biggest increase in consoles sold from the previous generation is still puzzling to me.

PS5 selling almost 60k...must be one of their best weeks right?

Jim did say the issue would be much better closer to Christmas and as we walk into 2023...seems like he was right.

With games like Final Fantasy XVI coming, i hope they have their stock issues solved by then.

So probably 200k Crisis Core including digital launch week. Should get to over 300k after a few weeks in JP, which is great. Loving my time with the game despite PSP in design.

Well you have a double combo of FF16, FF7Rebirth about 6 months apart and sounds like the PS5 Slim wedged in between, so I suspect PS5 will have a good H2-2023.

You mean 70k and this was PS5's second best week ever only the launch week of 118k was higher.

70k is a good sign for their FY target.

I do wonder what to take away from the CC performance on Switch from the UK and JP, feels a bit underwhelming (obviously Square Enix has set up the audience to be more on PS but still)

For now. Switch did a third of that without getting a mainline game(At least day and date) ever since Super Nintendo.

One of the few weeks where PS5 hardware And software numbers are good.Hopefully Sony keeps that up.

Switch killing as usual, so no surprises there.

And very happy with Crisis Core performance. With digital it should be between 250k and 300k. Worldwide it should be close to a million.

Sparks of hope performance is also surprising. It is having great legs!Lets hope it keeps that way.

I expected more from a console with almost 3 times the installbase of Playstation. :messenger_beaming:

I'm just kidding btw.
There are too many competitions on Switch right now especially with monsters like Splatoon 3 and Pokémon S/V were released recently. Both games are going to sell over 7 million units alone in Japan (including Digital sales).

Xbox irrelevancy in Asia is something else 😂

By the way Xbox Series is over tracked by almost 200K according to Media Create 😂

A lot of Xbox games only get digital releases in Japan, so they wouldn't show up. Not sure if that is the case for Crisis Core

It's not about competition (other SE RPGs opened higher on Switch recently). It's that the audience for FFVII games is bigger on PlayStation than Switch.

XSX is also not really available. My friend has been trying to get one for like two months or so here in Japan.
We both also put in for Amazon JPs lotto and still nothing. I just did it to try and help him get one as I have my launch day XSX.

Still selling new on Mercari for 65,000 to 70,000 range (retail is 55,000 including tax).

I’ve occasionally seen XSS, but not XSX.

Just noticed that the Switch Sports bundle has done some good work. Nintendo should be doing more bundles to offset the hardware decline.

So it's peaked. At this rate, time for Switch 2 in 2023.
Yeah it peaked 2 years ago. It's games are struggling to run and forget about anything running at full 1080pHD and 30 fps...But nah, most people here think it should stay on market another 12-18 months....

From business perspective why would they release a new console when they're still printing money more than their competitors.

Operating profits of 2022(9 months)

Nintendo - $2.44bn
PlayStation - $1.33bn
ATVB - $1.30bn
EA - $1.23bn

Yeah the game has been heavily advertised on PlayStation , because its obviously the exclusive platform for main Final Fantasy games.

Even considering that, Switch numbers are still decent for what they are, and 1.5 million sold of Nier Automata after years of being available on other systems is ace for Nintendo's little handheld

Jeez, remember the PS1 outselling the original Xbox in Japan? Or the PS2 outselling the Xbox 360? OR the PS3 outselling the Xbox One?
Ken kuturagi saying shit like “Xbox is actually competing with PS1”. Sony needs a max dog to tell Microsoft they’re actually competing with PS4
