Got a Green Xbox

Sure looks sexy, makes my purple cube look plain. Anyways, the mofo is noisy, with its loud fan, whine of the dvd drive, and grind of the harddrive. The only thing that really sucks is that they cheaped out and didn't bother to put a clock battery, so my time is always in 2001, which is annoying.

After extensive use of the controller s, and then going back to my cube to continue on my OoT save file, the cube controller just melts in my hands, the shape is perfect. However, the xbox controller is of higher quality and the cube controllers look sort of cheap next to them. Also, the rumble on the xbox controllers seriously isn't strong enough, and makes a high pitched whine when in use.

So far, it seems to be a good purchase, rounding out my collection of titles I can't get otherwise, it'll make a nice secondary system.

Games I plan to get in the future:

Ninja Gaiden
Riddick
Halo (my neighbour owns it so no need just yet)
KOTOR
Jade Empire
Fable (if the framerate doesn't bother me too much)
Halo 2

Did you get it used?

The only thing I hear on my Xbox is the hard drive and the occassional DVD spin-up. System fan is very quiet. Also, if your controller whines, return it. It's defective.

Good list of games!

No, it's brand new. But compared to the Gamecube, the Xbox is noisy. Basically, it sounds just like my PC (because it is one).

I got an Xbox, because, IMO, there are more exclusive games that I'm interested on the Xbox and Gamecube than the PS2. Also, PS2 games that do get ported usually are improved when migrated to the Xbox.

If you leave it plugged in the clock shouldn't reset. The clock will reset after it's been unplugged for a few minutes.

I know that, but I always unplug my consoles at night because it saves electricity, and a thunderstorm shouldn't pose a threat. I really think it was lame that Microsoft, after spending so much money for each unit, bails on a simple battery.

You may have gotten a lemon. My Xbox is dead silent... not even a whisper. It may be because I have the Seagate HDD however. I think you should exchange yours though, what you describe is definately not normal. My Xbox is actually a little quieter than my GameCube (both are very quiet though).

Uhh, yeah, that sounds like something's not right. I have the Halo LE Xbox and it is super silent. I can barely hear the DVD drive spin up when it's booting, or when games are loading in between levels. I think it's probably quieter than my Game Cube.

Musashi Wins!

FLAWLESS VICTOLY!
I just got a new Halo Box too and it's really quiet. Was part of my gripe about my old model. Also, I returned my first controller because the rumble was messed up. You may want to swap your system.

my Xbox makes no sound...you *should* get it returned before something goes wrong

and i feel that the GC runble is << the rest :b

i mean...during Twin Snakes...was anyone ever able to even hear Mantis shake the controller? PS version made sounds like a huge fekkin bee was trying to burst through my window and the GC version was just -- silent.

In Europe we also have special Edition of the Xbox (Crystal) and it also makes more noise than a normal black Xbox...it is because of the other type of Plastic...

Buy a surge protector.

If your consoles are turned off, how can they use electricity?. Do you unplug your tv's at night, too?
