Love these entirely CG trailers ending with a plea to preorder. I know that’s the name of the game these days but who the fuck preorders without so much as one second of gameplay?

A perfect example, the first fucking game. One of the best, most famous trailers of all time. And a total piece of shit game.

Edit: guess they followed up with a second trailer that showed gameplay. Still looks like butt but at least you know what you’re preordering, somewhat.

Love the gameplay shown, was wondering how much of a step up everything would look from the older titles and I was impressed.

I liked the physical stuff: the electrical lines you can bring down on zombies, the trails of gas you can light on fire., the rubble you can bring loose. Seems like scripted sequences (I think we'll still be posting memes of fields of grass we can light on fire in Farcry 2 for some time to come...) but that's fun stuff to have in there for added variety.

I am pretty sure that these guys do. You have to remember that the mainstream audience for these games is far beyond what Twitter and Reddit analytics will show you, and I am pretty sure that this group of people is being used to test how far the pre-order logistics can be pushed, such as an example of giving players less and less for their pre-orders, because it didn't used to be the case where you get early access just because you pre-ordered a game, but now it is, but wait, it's not enough to just pre-order anymore, you need to pre-order the most expensive edition now, only then will you get to play the game earlier than everybody else, thus it will make you feel special while they will make an extra $10 from your happiness. I am glad that I am in the position where I can't afford pre-orders, maybe that saved me from being blinded by FOMO.

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?
Video description confirms this is also cross-gen.

The Ultimate Zombie slayer is back, and arriving on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4 and PC on February 3, 2023! We can't wait to see you in HELL-A, the devastated, gore-drenched Los Angeles and introduce you to our deadly and charismatic zombie slayers. You are bitten, infected, but immune and stronger for it. Learn how to harness the virus coursing through your veins as you paint LA red with the insides of countless zombie enemies on a path to discover the truth about the outbreak, about who – or what – you are and survive. Slice, pulverize and smash your way through the horror-soaked streets of the city of Angels, dispatching the undead who get in your way. No biggie but the fate of the city – and all of humanity – is in your infected hands.

Rhetorical question. Yes, I’m aware plenty of these people do this.

- pulpy, not a survival game and dead rising / RPG vibes it seems - eviscerating hordes of zombies in creative ways with detailed gore system

- card system, ability cards (???) - skill deck

This game went through development hell yet somehow actually have a game thats coming out soonish and looks good?
Yager - > Deep Silver - > DamBuster

Basically started from scratch but still managed to get the job done.
Congrats to the devs.

Hyped. Really enjoyed Dead Island back in the days, it was a Borderlands in a tropical Island with zombies and a great coop on X360.

I can afford pre-orders but I won't, I stopped a LONG time ago. There is no point unless you get a discount. I order games I know will be good and I know I will like, at a discount from places like greenmangaming. A game like Elden Ring is one.

I don't buy games at full price ever. Unless there is a reason I think warrants it. Like it's a small studio or a unique game that I think needs the support.

Every "bonus" you get from pre-orders are near useless anyway. A new suit for your character, who gives a f, or a weapon that lasts a couple hours until you outgrow it.

I remember the days when you pre-order at Electronics Boutique and get T-shirts to go along with the games.

I'm not a child anymore, still kicking about in these kid games though, so I don't have the need to be involved with the game the day of.

This new bullshit gimmick of "day one edition" is totally meaningless, for the dame product that has a different printed graphic on it's cover. Ok, pay full price and expect to pay full price for all the dlc if you so intend, for the same game you can get bundled with all content months down the line at a cheaper price.

Man that CG trailer was one of the best/most realistic I've seen yet, other than the zombies exploding like blood balloons.

Gameplay trailer looks fun, lots of customization for weapons, and it seems like the constant horde bullshit from Riptide is gone (great news for me, I wasn't a fan of it).

Cautiously hyped for this.

Oh, EGS exclusive? See you in a year post release, space cowboy.

surprise of the show IMO, I was expecting it to look real shit, after swapping developers TWICE but we'll see how all the systems come together, that part about "activity cards" was concerning

I believe that was the trail, correct? (Deep Silver was Dambuster; I don't remember another internal studio being involved?)

Well this looks a lot better than i expected

Trends kind of came around, Grimdark was right for Dying Light, but by the time of the sequel it was too serious (plus other problems.) Now feels like a good time for a game that's just pure nonsense.

Looks kind of shitty. This game makes its way back but not countless other more one of a kind game ideas , lame

Damn, they took all the money they could get.
Honestly they need it. I think the Developers changed hands 3 or 4 times already?

Was surprised to hear that the new Devs started from scratch too. That was probably for the best... at least I thought what was shown looked good and exceeded my initial expectations.

What the hell is Alexa Game Control? Shows up in the listed platforms at the end.

Never heard of it myself. Seems like basically a Kinect-type feature where you yell out like, "Oh shit, Alexa, I need some fucking health!!!" and it uses a med pack instead of you needing to go into your inventory? Or you can ask for directions to the nearest waypoint? Or I guess you can taunt zombies, call them names like "Brainbreath", or shout at them, "who the hell do you think you are, Connor Ratliff?"

https://mp1st.com/news/dead-island-...tures-crawls-out-alexa-game-control-confirmed

Exclusive to North America, Dead Island will also feature Alexa Game Control which allows players to use their voice to “seamlessly interact with zombies, change weapons, navigate the world of HELL-A, and more.”

“We are excited to debut Alexa Game Control in Dead Island 2,” said Steve Bernstein, Director, Alexa Games. “Gamers will enjoy a more immersive gaming experience by using their voice to goad zombies, ask for help, activate special abilities during combat, and more, without having to say “Alexa,” use an Echo device, or purchase any special hardware.”

EDIT: Alexa Game Control might only be on PC and Xbox?

Use your voice to interact with NPCs, swap your weapons, and much more on your favorite PC and Xbox games.
