Inscryption - Announce Trailer | PS5 & PS4 Games

Bullet Club

Banned

From the creator of Pony Island and The Hex comes the latest mind melting, self-destructing love letter to video games. Inscryption is an inky black card-based odyssey that blends the deckbuilding roguelike, escape-room style puzzles, and psychological horror into a blood-laced smoothie. Darker still are the secrets inscrybed upon the cards...

Probably my favourite game of last year, go play it, even if you don't usually "do" card games.

Ah, sweet. Was wondering if and when this would make its way to PlayStation.

Day 1.

Edit - no date?

Oh, august 15.

This game is a gem. Like others have said in the past: Go into the game with as little info as possible to get the most out of it.

My favorite game of 2021, easily

I happened to be listening to this at the time:

So I just muted the trailer and let it play, it made the game a lot more whimsical.

Any kind of answer to this question would be a spoiler, the game is best enjoyed without any knowledge of it.
Well it sounds like you have to play a card game for hours to get some kind of scare or something.
You don't advertise a game like that

Your avatar is awful.

Yeah, guess who lost a bet recently.

I did. I was hoping someone would prove me otherwise since the trailer looks kinda interesting but I don't find card games interesting at all.
The game is absolutely a card game through and through, so if that's not your jam then definitely stay away.

However, it'd be a shame to pass on such a unique experience just because you don't like card games - but you do you.

Haven't played this one yet but, if it's as good as Pony Island or The Hex, then you consolebros are in for a real treat.

This guy just makes the most creative games out there.

Brilliantly fucking weird game. Buy it. Don't spoil yourself on anything. You have no idea what this game is.

Where's the love?

Played for a bit last night. Went in pretty blind outside of the trailer. Some things I definitely wasn't expecting.

Am I supposed to die with no chance of winning at times? Feels like it in some situations so far.

Enjoying the mystery of it all too. Very neat game.

I'm just working too much lately. I have it downloaded and ready to go in blind.

I love this game to pieces (though haven't played the console version - yet!).

It's just one of those games that's difficult to gush on so much, because people who haven't played it won't really get it. There's also the "I don't want to spoil this for others" factor.

But the game is straight up awesome.

I finished my first run last night (beat all the bosses in one go), let's just say this game is full of surprises...

Absolutely love everything about it from the creepy atmosphere, the sense of mystery, the art style, the sound design, the writing, the originality, everything sings, happy to support indies like this day 1.

Played a couple hours this morning and Im digging it aside from some rounds that seem really stacked against you.

I don't think any round is necessarily unwinnable, but you might hit a point where you've made too many bad decisions and that's the case.

By its sort of roguelite nature + RNG, some rounds will just be way way easier than others. However the death card you can carry over to the next game can be absurdly overpowered at times, to the point where you can practically solo the round with it.

As usual it's tough to talk about Inscryption without giving stuff away but once you clear the board once the game becomes far easier to restart quickly. All I can say. It's an absolute gem and my tied GOTY from last year with Metroid.

Yeah, there is some OP stuff if you're lucky. I won Act 1 because I had the thing that changed squirrels to
bees
and then the statue that gave
insects pack rat ability, so I was able to constantly use backpack consumables

Aright I feel like this game is a bait-and-switch. If you are thinking about buying it you deserve to know, after the first section that lasts 3-4 hours depending how lucky you are with RNG, and which all promotional media you see online comes from, you are dumped into this:

Game World

And Gameplay screen

In addition to which you are asked to pick one of four decks at the start, three of which are brand new and have totally different mechanics, none of which are explained to you before you pick. This transition totally loses the weird, evocative vibe of the start of the game and replaces it with this garbage. It has totally sapped my interest in the game.

I JUST got here today. I was convinced the game was over. What a plot twist. Granted, I haven't played far into this part yet, but I kinda liked the curve ball.

Why would you even post such a massive spoiler? One of the coolest gaming moments in recent memory and Inscryption is full of them...

The game has many layers to it but it sounds like it's not for you, shame, I think it's brilliant and worthy of all the praise people have given it.

EDIT: and there is no "bait-and-switch", dev would have to be retarded to reveal the game's biggest twists in it's promotional material. Ultimately this is a title that subverts expectations and winds up giving the player *more* than they thought they would get, not less. Games that truly try something different (and succeed) should be celebrated by the entire gaming industry and everyone who says they love games, period.

Heh, just got here today and you kind of cofirmed what I was starting to fear. That parts not coming back... :(

Other comments in this thread make sense now. Bit of a bummer to be honest.

Still enjoying it enough to keep going. I can see why others might quit

Bunch of spoilers
Every thing that happens is very much on purpose and obfuscation is required for the entire thing to come together and work in the end.
Do you get upset too if movie trailers don't inform you of the twists? Don't be silly.

Keep playing bruv, you reall don't know anything yet.

Because I wish I had known this before I bought the game, and it's one of the lamest gaming moments in recent memory. Besides the images are spoiler tagged if people don't want to know.

So I had the most broken run ever.

My 1 cost, 7 7 card plus mantis sigil sacrifice plus squirrel totem with magnifying glass.
Every boss destroyed in one turn.

Also..

WTF!

Credits just rolled.

Definitely one of the weirdest games I've ever played. That ending!

Stand out for sure. Not a goty for me but it's up there for how unique the whole thing was.

Good stuff.

once you beat the game you unlock a challenge mode that's just act 1 with a lot of unlocks and stuff and it's great.

Not sure how big of a spoiler that is so just beat the game. It's worth it.

Kaycee's Mod is a hell of a thing. I've beaten the first challenge, got to the final boss on the second challenge, (chose boss totems active), doubt I'll ever fully clear it but I'm having a ton of fun with it.

Was kind of hoping we'd see Grimora and Magnificus battles here, wonder if they will do DLC.
