I swear to God it's the same lame excuse everytime. I do the same, with absolutely no issue. Why can't people get out of the 90's, and who are the people regurgitating this mess??

I’ve been here, or at least, since “gaming-age” since 1998 and I’ve been a PC gamer all this time and always had a couch setup for PC. But I always saw this argument for PC.

What I’m trying to say is that this fucking useless argument is old enough to legally drink alcohol.

Bro, facts! There have been a million and one ways to do everything from controller. Literally starting up your PC from sleep, it's faster than any console to main menu. I don't get this shittty ass excuse about being tired from work and not being behind a PC. There's no difference, as matter a fact, you can get into games quicker on PC, and once in, you never see any PC interface at all. I don't get that poor ass excuse?

It's mostly just ignorance I believe. There are legitimate disadvantages of pc gaming (up front expense, time commitment), but "can't play on couch" is definitely not one of them. I have my bedroom PC hooked up to a 50inch TV, and I use a series X controller for most of my gaming right from my bed.

Good!

SONY is killing it releasing their exclusive catalog to PC WELL AFTER consoles so that the console isn’t cannibalized. It only makes the most sense from a money making standpoint. I mean why spend all that R&D creating the consoles in the first place?

Where's Kretos when we need him? MY GOD HAS ABANDONED (#TeamReal) ME!

Sounds like they're going to get a shitload of money. But I'm skeptical that I fit into this vision for the future on PS. Live service is going to take the forefront in a big way from the sound of it

Given Sony's recent PC ports are big name games, this will continue going forward.

The PC games that are increasing in number to 2025 will be the bigger name games and GAAS. The higher number of PS only games will be skewed to smaller budget and PSVR2 games.

It's not like Sony is going with a current strategy of Horizon ZD, GoW, Uncharted 4, Days Gone. And then in the next 3 years the PC games will shift to all Helldivers 2 kinds of games on PC.

I've spent thousands over the years on gaming PC's and they were fun but at the same time hassle. I'm content with the simplicity of consoles and generally very good optimisation when it comes to games. I'm not saying I'll never build a gaming PC again, but I'm happy with Sony for the foreseeable future.
Exactly my feelings

Got 3 "lol" reactions with my post, maybe 'cause people are really defensive and everything becomes console wars, but I'm glad that Sony games are being ported to PC

The people who don't have their PC in the living room nor want it there. Why does somebody's lifestyle choice upset you is the question.

I always wondered how much of that Horizon 20 million copies sales was PC. Turns out, very little. Going to show this to my bro because he swore up and down it was closer to half. I suspected GOW was only around a million at best. Deadass though JR going on crazy though lol.

Makes sense. The games are console franchises, not historically multiplat launches. They'd never sell even close to as many copies on PC given the history and time. GOW has only been out for 4 months and Horizon a little under 2 years too.

SImilarly, if League of Legends or Factorio came out for consoles, you'd never get anywhere close to the sales or proportional ratio on consoles vs. their Steam user count.

Wondering if Sony will do the same with what they did with anime streaming.

I still think they will end up buying a company like CD Project/GOG or multiple, smaller digital stores to merge them.

Console has the advantage of massive marketing campaigns, bundle sales and fast droping disc prices. Also some people only play the latest games. Day one Horizon and GOW would have sold many millions on pc.

Am I the only one confused by the numbers?

They’re releasing 12 live service games within the next 2.5 years? In addition to their SP games?

But we’ve not seen or heard about any of them?

I’m guessing the Factions will be one. It seems absurdly high.

I’ll still just use my PS5 though. As others have said, lower cost (plus easier to sell on later compared to a PC). I work on a PC 9 hours a day. Plus, PS is just a good place to play.

Nightmare scenario. GOG became what is probably the best store in terms of artistic freedom not that long ago. I'd rather not see that get backtracked because CD Projekt got bought by any company with more restrictive policies than them.

If they port their older games to Steam, I'll probably buy them all again. I'll never buy PS5 though. It's absolutely too big and stupid looking.

PC can be purposely built to replace consoles these days. Steam Deck's UI is a game changer and will replace big picture mode sooner or later. Consoles & PCs are becoming the same thing in the living room, so Sony might as well get money from hooking into that, and selling their games to the tens of millions of people already there.

It makes no sense if you have a decent PC. My series X has been switched on a handful of times since i bought it. My PC does everything better.
Yeah, it makes zero sense to own a series X if you have a PC. Wholeheartedly agree there.
I have a decent PC, but after many hours of work I want to be on my couch, with a beer and away from it.
I totally understand this point of view as well. Also, you could look into building you a "Home theater PC" (HTPC) and connect it to that 85" OLED you got in the living room, too. Would be able to still sit down and enjoy in peace. :)

And Sony is inching closer to my end goal of having my favorite IP's of theirs ported to PC. It's all going according to plan. All hail Jimmy-Mac!

what i don't understand is why this argument pops up in every thread that has something to do with PC. i mean, why? how will specific thread will benefit from your unability to drink beer from your couch on PC?

this has been, what, maybe the 20th time a thread about PC ports or PC that I saw and exact same argument and discussion about it took place. and it never reaches anywhere. everyone have already decided what they're going to get and its clear that they won't change their minds. its completely irrelevalant as well. no one asked you if you liked that or not, no one asked you to play PC.

personally, I don't even like couch gaming itself. I tried that, and I simply couldn't enjoy the games like I did in my monitor. i noticed that I didn't feel myself in control of the game, it felt like directing a movie, instead. i couldn't notice or see most of the details I would on my monitor because it is quite impossible from 1.5-2 ft to see that unless you sit in front of your TV like some deranged people do. I still have beers on my desk and I can very much so drink them while I'm playing games so I'm definetely missing the catch here. I also have a comfortable office chair that I can casually lean back to and just grab my Dualsense and play whatever I want to next with my bluetooth setup. I guess its heresy for console users to play like this, apparently.

for the noise argument, my pc is super undervolted/underclocked and still performs great with minimal noise, jst like consoles

Awesome, one of the reasons I bought a new PC and tried future proofing as best I could within budget. Going forward I’m feeling more confident that the best place to play will be PC purely based on the fact that all games look like they will go there. No need for anything other than Switch and PC.

Of course I understand PC gaming isn’t for everyone before someone jumps on me for that.

More choice is always good. Hopefully being able to capitalize on more markets provides them more budget to bet on more and better games.
From my side i would love to be able to benefit from the PS catalog with just the PC but i guess the console will still be the main platform.

Mobile here is the wildcard. It would be great if the PS brand revived their PSP/Vita franchises to bring to mobile. Switch benefits hugely from portable games (Pokemon, Strategy jrps, platformers...). While i wouldn't be fond of playing games like Elden Ring on mobile, i definitely would consider a PSN subscription service if i could access interesting portable games in my phone/tablet (installing and not just streaming).

The mobile market is still very underwhelming atm, we are seeing some interesting moves with Blizzard games (Diablo and Warcraft) but since Sony gave up on making a portable console and MS is betting on Xbox/Windows i feel the move there could be interesting.

10 years ago, if you said to me Playstation Studios would be going multiplatform, I would have said you were crazy. We're definately living in transtional times for gaming, and it appears PC and Mobile Phones are rising as priority platforms for traditionally console developers.

nah, a pc is a pc.
It will require updates, drivers, dealing with windows, having to tweak things here and there.
My xbox is press a button, and everythings turns on, quick resume and in 5 seconds im playing.
