The lack of info on God of War Ragnarok is concerning

Yeah, what 60 seconds close to a year ago? That ain't gonna cut it. We saw a ton of gameplay for gt7 and hzd2 as well before they were both delayed. That doesn't really prove anything.

As for starfield, this has been Bethesda's marketing mo for their last several games. They don't do the big blowout until e3 the year of release. So just wait until June and you'll be sated.
Can’t wait for 16x the detail

I think your memory is busted longer than 60 seconds

I said gameplay. I didn't count the seconds but guessed it was 60 seconds.

Starfield you'll be blown away in a few months. Just be patient

Yeah I don’t see any reason to be concerned about a delay for this one, looked polished and ready for release already back then. I 100% expect it to be there fighting for the GOTY with Elden Ring and Starfield.

The worst thing that the nefarious Jim Ryan would do is to implement some trick to steal the gamers.

NFT or I don't know what the hell, as happened with Gran Turismo and its implementation of being connected Online

I’m not concerned. The trailer they showed us at the showcase had far more in it than I was expecting. I think they knew at that time that between then and April SIE would be marketing other things.

We’ll either get a blow out in June around E3 time or a very meaty State of Play.

This is why I miss E3. We weren't constantly expecting news before. We knew we would see the upcoming games at E3 so we just patiently waited for that event.
Yeah, and we knew there were a couple big shows we has to see instead of a bunch of smaller ones or big onfocused shows drawn out in time for more ad revenue. The excitement is mostly gone now and the shows we get mostly ends in disappointment since nothing can compete in scope or quality with a big E3 show.

Yeah. I don't mind the random State of Plays or the Showcases. But not having those big events that you know about months or a year in advance is crappy. I keep hoping that Sony will announce PlayStation Experience again since they keep reupping the trademark. I wouldn't mind if that was their one big event all year long. Having those State of Plays and a Summer Showcase to hold us over would be perfectly fine. I know Keighley is really trying with Summer Games Fest and The Game Awards, and god love him for at least trying to give us something, but nothing since the pandemic holds a candle to those old shows.

Yeah, i talked about this on another thread

Now everything feels so random. It could be either next week or it could in September. We just don't know

Was it not supposed to come out last year? I’m sure it’s closed to finished, Sony said it was a 2021 game.

if it slips to 2023 that’s like worse than a halo infinite type of delay.

Feel the concern!

If Sony position it as their big holiday release, there's nothing really concerning me right now. I expect a big push from mid-year on. If we get to September and we've got nothing, then I'd think the game is in trouble.

I think it 2023 Sony wants GOWR to get GOTY
2022 has to much GOTY contender competition even BOTW2 is ducking Elden Ring lol

We didn't see a ton of gameplay for Horizon before it was delayed, we saw a state of play the day the delay was announced. The reveal trailer was all either in engine or cinematic scenes there was no real gameplay in it at all. That game never had a solid release date beyond 2021 and most people didn't believe it was actually going to launch on time anyway. God of War may still be delayed we don't know but we are just 3 full months into this year, there are still nearly 9 months left to go before 2022 ends so let's not get all dramatic about a game we've already seen some gameplay from. Why would they have wasted time showing us a bunch of footage of an incomplete game that's likely not launching until the summer or fall whey they had to market Horizon and GT7? Let's put our logic hat on and think about it lol.

Also, why are we pretending sony doesn’t have a whole other line up of 2023 games, that likely aren’t even cross gen?

Spider-man 2 is already confirmed and im guessing at least one of those Naughty Dog games drop next year with the show. As of now they really only have 3 announced games.

I’m guessing phase 2 of sonys line up will be announced in the summer or September again

Not really...its gow 2018++...Its a game that needs one or two trailers since it doesnt really need to "sell" anyone on it. It'll be fine and great...it comes down to the story for a game like it.
Sony in the last few years made a "State of play" exclusively for every of their major releases, where they showed the game quite deeply. I would assume they will do the same with God of War.
This deep dive is usually around a month before release, but there were exceptions (e.g. "Horizon"), which was about a year before release.

It's been 6 months since we had the only thing that can be labled as "info". So it's now April and we're yet to have a release date, or anything new , really
What do you think?

Maybe a strange logic, but Santa Monica a few days ago made an Aprils fools joke about delaying the game to 2023. They would not make a joke like this if delaying the game is really in the books. In that jokes they also wrote that the console version is pretty much ready (delay only to release PC version on same day), but it was an aprils fool joke so I would take any information out of it with a large pile of salt. Especially the day 1 PC version was just a detail to trigger us poor PS fans :pie_eyeroll:

You'll be surprised how much a GOTY means to these company lol

Well...not enough to release something rushed.

They get GOTY a lot cause they put out quality titles alot. Just releasing isn't the goal, quality is. Even The Last Of Us 2 was delayed. Sony likely already knows Horizon will net them a lot of awards, Horizon 1 got like over 50 plus GOTYs, during a year BoTW, Mario Odyssey and Nier came out btw. So I think them coming out with quality and delaying if need be is more important.

Coming out rushed in 2022 means you just got it released, if its broken...well they are not getting much awards compared to others.

Delayed 2023 however gets them that award if all things are running well, no issues and a solid game. So I think their goal is to collect GOTYs, not release dates....

that was from a fake account

also, the real account made a statement to not trust anything people read that day about GoW

I'm fine with little info, I'm sure they are prepared to show something at e...er.. . Summer Geoff show. I do wish Cory was at the helm but I have high hopes for Ragnarok.

We ain't outta here in ten minutes, we won't need no rocket to fly through space

I am yet to see why this is not being sold as dlc for the original GOW, I have played GOW recently on my ps4pro and I am not that excited about the ragnarok
Who are you trying to fool, the person who liked your post?

There are always going to be somebody who's gonna say a PlayStation exclusive doesn't look that good until it gets release and their are blow away by story, graphics and gameplay.

GOW will deliver on all 3 of those no matter what you or the haters say, Just like all the other GOW releases.

You know why it is not DLC

cause there is no DLC 20 - 40 hour long campaign

cause they will expand in gameplay, in scope, in enemies, in weapons and bosses far beyond the first game
The first game most of the budget spent in the new engine
Imagine now what they can do with full budget with that burden off

If u worried see horizon fw, the last of us 2, uncharted 2 … etc most of sony games sequels vastly improved compared to their first entry

U can say why new gears DLC is enough
Why new doom
Why new halo … etc

We barely knew anything about Elden Ring too, good games don't need so much information shared beforehand

I would be concerned if it was a lesser Studio. It motherfucking Santa Monica, one of the best in the industry.

They took some slack for the visuals looking the same as GOW 2018, I bet they took that to heart - And it will look significantly better the next time we see it.

Thats how they do
If Horizon Forbidden West is anything to go by, I don't think that'll be the case...

Love how some people have already decided that Starfield will be this huge deal even though Fallout 4 was bang average, and Fallout 76 no bueno.

Yet the sequel and follow up project to one of the best games of all time is in trouble.

Right. So starfield likely releases this year and gow2 is pushed to next year. One has nothing to do with the other

I’m not sure about that they both can arrive this year. I haven’t really paid attention to Starfield but I’ve seen some GoW2 gameplay so the game is definitely in a playable state. Pretty good chance we are getting it this year especially after the message from that SSM employee.

Maybe tell us why you believe GoW2 should be delayed?

I don’t believe the game had a Craig like moment to be honest. It definitely won’t be like a Halo Infinite type delay.

I know you made a mistake so I fixed it. Glad to see your looking forward to God of War I am as well since the first game was extremely enjoyable for me. Little worried about how Loki is going to act but we have to see if he can escape the bratty teen stereotype.

Let me tell you one thing. Internally, at Santa Monica, they expect this game to be received better than the first one. You're worried about nothing. Expect a SoP in the next few months.

In waiting for a massive Sony blowout.

Like we know nothing about their games for the next two years.

Only God Of War, Spider-Man and Wolverine which is miles away

With the recent news from Sony shifting towards acquisitions, VR 2 and PS Plus, i fear the game might not come this year if we don't get anything this month. And that's because i don't see it releasing in October-December, as it's not the way Sony usually works with big games

What do you think?

I agree, it's definitely a concern. You have to think this game is pretty big for Sony's fiscal year 2022 plans. In fact it's the only major title Sony has even announced for fiscal year 2022, which is actually insane as it relates to secrecy, but as others mentioned, we didn't really see much about Horizon either.

God of War 2018 came out just over a year after Horizon Zero Dawn did. Horizon Forbidden West was not the revolution you'd look for in a next-gen title. Given the timeframe and what we've seen, I doubt Ragnarok will be either.

Since we got a state of play for Horizon 10 months ago, but God of War Ragnarok is slated for this year (let's assume November/December release), I'd imagine we'd get a state of play in April or May if the game is still coming out this year.

I would be concerned if it was a lesser Studio. It motherfucking Santa Monica, one of the best in the industry.

Honestly, there is really no evidence of this. Sony has just stopped revealing their games in great detail early. It was the same for Horizon and Gran Turismo. GT7 got a state of play a month before it was released.

Has SONY ever skimped on God of War before? It will be fine.
God of War Ascension.
