For those who have a long backlog, do you think that it exceeds the amount of games that you've already completed, or do you think you have a pretty healthy lead with completed games? Perhaps somewhere in the middle?

How about it?

It's doubtful I'll ever play every game I own. My backlog is way too long. But I am scaling back on purchases. I will by some stuff from the PS3 and Wii U shops this year since they will close soon. And also some black Friday stuff on sale. But that's it.

I think the SNES/N64/GameCube libraries are the only ones I was able to mostly keep up with. PS2 though had just such a huge library, then PS3 and PS4 added many more. Plus I skipped the Wii and got a Wii U and bought a bunch of Wii games to catch up but have only gotten to a few of them. Also got a decent amount of Switch games I’ve not played.

I've been gaming since pre Atari VCS, and my backlog is definitely bigger than the number of games I've completed. That's a strange thing to realize.

No, I’m pretty good about staying on top of it but just bought a PS5 and Deathloop, Returnal, Demon’s Souls, FFVII Integrade, and with Elden Ring I’m starting to feel a little overwhelmed.

An awesome “problem” to have.

Yep, absolutely. If you count only games playable on current consoles and PC I have like 1400+ games. Then I have a crazy amount of old games and systems I've always intended to go back to, but have no time for. I've probably only finished between 150-200 games in my life.

I don't play anymore, I just increase my backlog. Hoarding problems.

Another question: is your dick bigger than your vocabulary? That's what everyone's thinking, right?

Ok, I'll see myself out.

Ever since I got my Pi set up with 1000s of games I never got around to on the 8-bit home computers and 16-bit consoles next to the pile of PS1-4 games I someday want to play... yeah I sometimes just watch a movie because I can't decide what to start next.

The only game on my backlog was Cyberpunk, which I'm almost done with. After this the only game I care to play for the next several months is Elden Ring

I consider my backlog to be hundreds of retro games I still want to play that I missed back when they came out but now interest me.

so my backlog is way bigger for sure lol

I see I'm not alone lol... with the difference being that I just use a PC (sometimes a PSP or my Xbox Series X) not a Raspberry Pi

If I never bought another game I probably still have more games than time to beat them. My fucking backlog goes aaaaaalllll the way back to the GBA.

Yes, but only if I count games someone else wanted me to play (bought for me), or games where I felt I should love it because everyone says I should.

Longer. But I’ve been completely removing games that I’ve flat out given up on. Trying to work through shorter games first.

Infinitely so.

I have played plenty of games plenty, but i think I've only completed a dozen or two, as a kid it was just moving in to more fun, these days it's a time thing, can't complete a game before the next release comes out and takes all my time... Sekiro, I've been steadily chipping that away but it's probably going to fall victim to elden ring, forbidden West, gt7 and Warhammer 3

Nope. My backlog is roughly 20% of games I own. This includes games in progress and ones I haven't started yet.

I have a ton in my backlog right now and don’t think I’ll ever catch up. I don’t have as much time to play as I used to and prioritize new titles that I’m waiting to play vs the ones I buy on sale.

Just picked up Horizon: FW and will grab Elden Ring next week.

Still need to finish:
  • SMT: V
  • FE: three houses
  • Dragon Quest XI (final act)
  • Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart
  • Yakuza series
  • Yakuza: Like a Dragon
  • Persona 5: Royal (finished original but want to play the changes)
  • COD: Vanguard
  • Tales of Arise
  • Deathloop
  • Death Stranding (50% through)
  • Ghost of Tsushima 2nd play through on PS5
  • Sekiro (final boss)
  • Assassins Creed: Valhalla
  • Kena
  • Outer Wilds
  • Bunch of indies I’ve picked up on sales
  • Mass Effect Trilogy
Help

I play a ton of games and don’t finish 99% of them.

Doesn’t bother me anymore. I’m there for the experience, whether it lasts for a few minutes or the entirety of a game.

On the other hand, I’ve put thousands of hours into BRs and other multiplayer games. I think a big part of it is spending time with friends while playing.

If I were to guess, then I actually think it's really close. But that's mostly due to the amount of long RPGs some of which I'm probably never gonna start.

I am better than I used to be. I buy clumps of games during sales and then spend the next 6 months hoping to get through them. I think I had a few weeks about a year ago where I was basically through my queue. It was nice.

I've seriously reduced my backlog over the years, both by actually working through it and by eliminating games that sounded fun but that I know I'll never play. Or eliminating games that I know I'll probably like but that are too similar to games I've already played through. That includes a lot of sequels that don't add much, if anything, new to the experience.

I have a PC, PS5, Switch and Xbox series X with an unhealthy habit of buying games.... What the f... is a completed backlog????

PC = insane backlog.
4,000+ games on Steam. Game pass. Free Epic Games. Humble Bundles. Deals, Deals, Deals. I will never come close to finishing my back log.

Absolute exceeds it. There's no way you can be someone that started with the NES and not have a backlog bigger than completed games. There literally isn't enough time in the world to complete as many games as there are good interesting ones out there. For example to this day I have not completed Super Metroid, Contra 3: Alien Wars and Super Mario World 2.. all SNES games all SNES games, all good games, still not completed. And this isn't even getting into NES games like Mother 1 and you know.. every other console since.

My backlog is infinite with game pass. Never ending.
Well... you can't have a backlog of what you don't own, can you? You had a lot of games to play and that's all.

Well... just using my physical games as a example, since I've never considered any game that I get digitally as my but as a rented games.

My collection of games is pretty small. I have 46 games. Of these 46 I've played 26. So it's not that bad as some people here in Gaf that probabilly would need 2 extra lives to play their games.
